   Ambiance and views were amazing. Some dishes were amazing (lemon dessert), some ok, and some terrible (prawns). Cocktails were very good, but way overpriced. Bill had to be corrected as other table’s bill was included in ours.

   We choose MDRD to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary and the experience was all we had hoped for and more. Upon arrival they had a Happy Anniversary table card at our table. Our waiter was awesome and helped explain the unique Spanish dinners and wines offered. We absolutely love the ambience and the panoramic views of the city from the top floor of the Amway Grand Hotel are spectacular. Thank you MDRD staff for an amazing evening!!

   This was our second time at MDRD. If you book a 4:30 reservation you need to wait until 4:30 for the elevators to work. This would be helpful information before you arrive. The atmosphere is great and the service was impeccable. The tapas were excellent. We ordered the Paella and this was probably one of the worse paella's we have ever had. The chorizo was burnt and the seafood was ok. I would recommend going for a cocktail and a couple of tapas and then going somewhere else for you main course.

   Evan was our server and he made the night just incredible. In town from Chicago celebrating our Anniversary and were recommended MDRD by a friend and this dinner is now the highlight of the trip. Wine list is really incredible and every dish was a great portion, flavors popped and were exciting, and presentation was flawless. Every employee from the host to the food runners to Evan were kind, excited, and passionate about what they were doing. One of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. THANK YOU!!!

    Fantastic food, stellar service, amazing ambiance, and delightful drinks. The staff are absolutely wonderful and have great recommendations. I would highly recommend paying MDRD a visit if you’re in Grand Rapids—you won’t regret it.

    Did not like the change in the shrimp appitizer to the 3 full body prawns. While the presentation looks nice, the work it takes to remove the meat and the small amount of the meat ones gets from each prawn is not a good value. I am not saying you should go back to the old version of the shrimp app, just saying the new version is not favored.

    Wine tasting event was a great experience that gave us the opportunity to try single source, organic Spanish wine. Could have use more snacks with a better connection to the wine and additional carb offerings. Definitely interested in trying other events here.

    For wine tasting event- View was fabulous and so is the staff. Wine selection was not good and way too many white wines. Appetizers were always very low or barely nothing, there was nothing simple, like crackers, or fruit for vegetarians. Cheeses were mixed in and touching meat options. Bathroom was not on the same floor and when we went down to main level to use the bathroom, they wanted to send us back up to another floor and not come into the restaurant.

    This is a review of their wine tasting event, which was a complete fiasco. They advertised tapas and did not serve tapas, and the accompanying food ran out in 20 minutes. Service was way understaffed, and the event was 33% over scheduled time. In the last 3 wine tasting, we were basically being served mediocre wine with water on the side.

    We attended the wine tasting event. This was the second one I attended. There was very little to eat. I am pescatarian and the cheese was intermingled with the meat and very few options. This would not have bothered me as much but I received a questionnaire asking about dietary restrictions so I was surprised. The food was the same as the fist event with the exception of the quantity. It was not refilled as often and at the first event there were crackers, nuts and olives. We went to use the restroom (2 floors down) and were obviously not wanted there. They tried to direct us to a different level. The wine was not good at all but I realize that is a personal preference. We were also told there would be a coat check, we were never offered this service. The staff was great and the service was good.

    All the wines that we tried were not good quality and the taste was well below my expectations. I would never purchase any of these wines and I would feel embarrassed to have this tasting associated with my restaurant. The food was less than "finger food or tapas" as advertised. The whole experience was very disappointing.

    This was our first wine tasting at MDRD and our table of 7 was completely disappointed. The wines presented were not enjoyable, and the food selection was not sufficient for the number of people in attendance, nor were there any suggestions for what of the 6 items would pair with which wine. We were not informed as what to expect or when we were to get a plate or anything. We attend a variety of wine tastings and pairings throughout West MICHIGAN and this one was by far the most disappointing. The best part was the view, absolutely stunning.

    The staff was great and the owner of the vineyard was informative and had some fun facts about wine. Unfortunately the charcuterie board, bread with meat and skewers, was not refilled enough to satisfy the room. It would have been nice to have crackers or bread as part of the board. As far as the wine selection I unfortunately did not find a wine that I enjoyed. I am more of a red wine drinker so that was disappointing. In the future I would like to see the wine selection before buying the ticket.

    First time here, we ordered the octopus, lamb chops, and tenderloin. Octopus came out extremely burnt, wish I could show the picture! Very disappointing since this is their signature dish. The rest of our food was good, especially the desserts. Our service was very slow, seemed to just be our server though, as we noticed other tables that came in after us getting drinks before us. Probably wouldn't go back other than to get desserts and drinks.

    While the apps and drinks were very good, the main courses were lacking. Very dry paella - almost burnt. The octopus appetizer, while good, was burnt in places. Service was okay - took a while to get drinks - was told it was because the bar was backed up. Anticipated a lot from reviews, but didn't live up to what I expected. Would I recommend to a friend. Maybe. View was beautiful, drinks were good and as I said appetizers, besides the octopus were really good. Maybe I'd recommend for drinks and apps?

    First time i was not satisfied. I reserved a corner table in the main floor since it’s a double birthday celebration. The host placed us in the 3 rd level and when i asked to transfer us to the corner table another host took it. There was no birthday signs. We missed Adam.

    We went for our first time on my birthday. I made the reservation six weeks in advance, but we still ended up with the table next to the wait stand without a view. Our server was excellent and the food was good. We were expecting more though, after our friends talked it up. We enjoyed the cocktails more than the food. Would go back for a drink.

    This was my third time eating at MDRD. Overall everything was stellar, as usual. The table, one in a nook on the stairs, was semi-private with a wonderful view. Shirley, our waitress (who I’ve had before) was perfectly attentive and did a great job with the menu and wine suggestions. Most of the food was very good, although I think their new “gambas al ajillo” should be renamed. It was nothing like gambas al ajillo - it is three prawns in some kind of creamy sauce. Very disappointing. The paella was OK, but I wouldn’t order it again. Not quite close enough to an authentic paella to make it worth the price. Otherwise the evening was perfect and I would highly recommend MDRD for anyone looking for a special culinary treat in Grand Rapids.

    The space and views were amazing. The service was fantastic. The cocktails were different and tasty. The tapas were good and the paella was delicious but the rice was a mushy. I had the Filete A La Plancha, it was cooked right but the meat was grainy without much flavor.

    A great place for a special occasion. We felt so welcome as everyone greeted us with “happy anniversary.” We sat at a table with a panoramic view of the city. The service was warm and informative. We had time and space to enjoy an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The salmon puff pastry was delicate and delicious, served inventively on a dish kept warm with heated stones. The chocolate mousse tree-themed dessert was whimsical and fun to eat.     Beautiful restaurant with awesome service. Expect to pay a lot! Go into it with a $200 budget to enjoy the whole experience. Worth it!
