The food and service was fantastic at MDRD. And the view is the best in Grand Rapids. One of the more expensive restaurants in Grand Rapids. Great for a business meeting or special occasion. Menu standouts were the octopus and Iberian pork chop.

We ate at Cygnus 20 years ago, the night my wife and I became engaged, it was such a wonderful experience! So when our 20th wedding anniversary was coming up we wanted to touch that beginning experience together again. We were able to relive that moment a bit. Then look back on all the wonderful blessings and challenges of the last 20 years. And dream about the next 20 together. The various Tapas options were wonderfully prepared and tasty. Our host, Adam was warm and friendly. Everyone there, from the car hop, to the hostess, and other staff were very welcoming! Hope you are there in 20 years so we can relive the moments again!

The food was very good, can’t complain one bit. The service on the other hand was a bit slow from the start. It appeared as if they were understaffed at the time we arrived. Our server took awhile to get to the table and our first drinks took time as well. The thing that really soured me on this restaurant is the dishonesty about the availability of the octopus. Myself and the tables on each side of us were both told that the restaurant was out of octopus. Imagine my surprise as we were walking out of the restaurant a server emerges from the kitchen with octopus. We were shocked to think that they were picking and choosing who got to eat octopus that night. Truly unfortunate or a real lack of communication.

Always a superlative experience! The views cannot be beat. The service is exceptional. The food is a delicious work of art! Did I mention the cocktails? Oh my! if you can't make it for dinner, at least go for a drink. You'll be glad you did. Also, if you stay for dinner, be sure to indulge in dessert. You cannot go wrong with El Lemon!

While we had been to the restaurant before and enjoyed ourselves, this time we were seated in a section at the very top with harsh office lighting and decor that didn’t fit the rest of the restaurant. The worst part was the noise coming from the other levels below us. It was really loud, and it was made even worse by something we thought were multiple passing helicopters or maybe construction near the building. We couldn’t hear each other and were getting headaches from the loud rumbling—which also shook the wall and our table. So we left after just having a drink. It felt like we were crammed into an airport restaurant booth and the special occasion that we went there to celebrate just felt ruined. Just walking through the restaurant when we left made us feel like we got stuck in an afterthought section. I would go again, because the food and service are good, but if they were going to seat me in that section I would just decline and leave.

The service was amazing and the ambiance was amazing. Great location for a romantic dinner or drinks. The food however left a bit to be desired. We ordered the lamb and potato tapas and they were both amazing. When we got to the main dishes, I ordered the Fideua De Marisco and I was very disappointed. The tapas was seasoned to perfection then the main came out and it tasted like they ran out of any seasoning. The dish was devoid of flavor. My wife ordered the Spanish Omelet. She enjoyed it, but I felt it was a bit bland and dry. Overall. I would go there for drinks but would likely skip the food.

The staff was incredibly friendly. I mentioned it was our anniversary and we had a great table with an awesome view and we’re wished a Happy Anniversary by all we interacted with. Even our table and desert addressed it. The food was good, the appetizer and dessert were delicious. I would definitely recommend to try.

we were seated across from the bar ...there is a row of tables close together..our waiter was excellent but the waiter of the table next to ours kept standing between tables...that put his butt 3 inches from my plate...I literally could not eat ...not only that but he stood there forever explaining the menu..very not cool..so no matter how great ur food is the waiters butt in my food pretty much ruined the night...beware of that series of tables

when reservation was made I was charged a deposit fee of $40 per person this was not credited back on my bill! When I asked why I was given the answer nobody knew and would not give me the credit

While I'm glad we celebrated at MDRD, I don't think we will come back. The atmosphere is great and the views are stunning. The wait staff is well trained and friendly. We all thought the food was lacking in flavor and there was more expected. The cocktails were great though. Bummer they didn't do a birthday dessert as a favor, considering we paid ~$100 per person. Overall 4/5

We had reservations ( recommended) for our anniversary, everything was perfect! From the greeters at the door, to our waitress Shirley, whom was a delight and very knowledgeable of the entire food & drink menus. She navigated us in the right direction with each selection, priceless! Food & drink presentation all top notch. Fun vibe with a great evening view of the city. We will be back. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary there and the food and service were wonderful! Our server Shirley was very knowledgeable about all the menu items and helped us select a wine since neither my boyfriend or I know much about Spanish wine. 10/10 would recommend!

Overall we had an excellent meal for our first time at MDRD. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and taken to a high-top table near the bar area - not a great spot for the views, but not the worst, and the velvet booth was cozy but spacious enough for the two of us to sit side-by-side. The food and drinks were excellent overall, the highlight being the iberico pork chop hands-down. Drinks were fantastic and well-balanced, and the lemon dessert was an absolute standout. The only reason I'm dinging a star is because service was inconsistent throughout the evening. In general the staff was lovely and engaging, but our server was inconsistent and at times it felt like we were being intentionally ignored, especially observing the service at other tables around us. We will return, but I'd recommend trying to score a seat at the bar where the views are better and you won't be as beholden to a server for your food/drink orders.

We had our anniversary dinner at MDRD. The table we were seated at was excellent, looking out over the city. We liked the tigres tapa, but were disappointed it was simply a croqueta served in a mussel shell with no mussel. The salmon con trufa was our favorite tapa. We had the fideuá for our entree which was good, but could have had more seasoning. We have traveled to Spain and what really makes a good paella or fideuá is the seasoning permeating not only the seafood but the rice or noodles too. Our server Brandon was attentive and fun. Overall we enjoyed our visit!
