It was a wonderful experience! Greeted upon arrival with a glass of Prosecco and a tour of the historic house. The food was fantastic as well as the service. Highly recommend getting the wine selections with your meal!
We have never had a bad meal at the McNinch House. The food is always good and the ambience is unparalleled. We are still uneasy about being in large crowds but McNinch can support adequate distancing with ease. In fact we had our own room. The service is great. It is always a treat to chat with Wes.
The staff is always so personable and friendly! The extra touches are much appreciated.
Great experience Mr. Wesley did outstanding job with wine selections.
My yearly visit was wonderful. The food was as usual like a wonderful poem that you think about and creates emotion of fond memory. Unfortunately out of Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou but the enjoyable entertaining sommelier made a great substitution. They do have a menu where wine pairings are matched which I might try next time that guests across the way kept raving about
Overall, nice atmosphere and server was kind but food quality and value was not commensurate with the cost of the meal. The lamb was not cooked according to specifications; it was “gamey” and was not tender at all. Even after having it returned; it came back incorrect again. They offered no concession for their mistake and lack of quality of the food. Additionally, they still automatically billed 20% gratuity. Food was way over priced. Was not impressed and will not return.
From a “ cost value perspective,“ The meal was very expensive, however, the experience was worth the price. Would definitely go again for Valentines Day date!!
It was my birthday and they gavel us an on the house toast to celebrate to start out our evening. The food was delicious. Each course was more wonderful than the next. They would come out and give us small cornbreads, and biscuits with honey butter. Very delicious. The main course was also very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an elegant dinner out.
McNinch House is great for a special occasion! Beautiful setting in a quaint old house. Table was beautiful with China and silver. Service was excellent! The food was good. I loved the portion sizes. We each got the prefix 4 course meal. I loved being able to choose two first courses. It is quite pricey! I’m glad we didn’t bring our 9 year old with us. Overall a great experience!
We celebrated my wife’s birthday and she was treated like the princess she is!
One of the best dining experiencing we have ever had. We did the chef tasting and every meal that was sent out was absolute perfection. From the layout to the plates, bowls, and silverware everything was spot on. The wining pairings worked perfectly with each meal..
Definitely one of if not the best dining experiencing I have had in Charlotte
The wine steward made it all special. Wesley? He would be the reason we recommend!
We had a fantastic dinner and Wesley took great care of us for the evening.
Very enjoyable experience; great food and great service. Ambient music would be a nice addition to mask other guest conversations.
After more than 15 years living in Charlotte, this was our first time for a dinner date at the McNinch House. It was a wonderful and romantic experience for our Anniversary. Food was excellent, and the wine pairings were spot on. We will definitely go again some time (for another special event).
Some reviewers complained about the small serving sizes, but with 4 or more courses the sizes seemed just right to us.
The ambiance was very nice in that it is a small number of tables and relatively quiet (so much so, that we caught ourselves whispering at times). It’s rare to find dining experiences that are not overcrowded and loud.
I did feel that for the price (and reputation) some things did not meet my expectations. While the home is beautiful the decor needs some updating — I’m not talking about period pieces that are appropriate for the historic home, but instead the sometimes kitschy decor pieces that look like they are from the 1980s (not 1880s!). There were too many fake/plastic plants (a nice place like this should be filled with fresh flowers daily etc). Even the linens felt outdated— table cloths and napkins were not of the quality I expected (and would have been more elegant if they were just a crisp white), while the hand towels in the men’s room were basic wash cloths in a variety of outdated colors (and also would have been more elegant with a nice stack of white linen towels or similar). Also, while the service was pleasant and attentive some of the servers seemed inexperienced (for example, one reached across my wife’s plate to give me bread).
Overall, we had an outstanding experience at the McNinch House. Although it can be a relatively higher-priced dinner, it is worth it for special events because of the food, the wine and the unique setting and atmosphere.
Made our 7th year anniversary one to remember
Other than being a little pricey, this place is fantastic. Best filet mignon I've ever had. Best service and atmosphere as well. Very cultured experience, with a second to none ambiance. Perfect for a special occasion. Took my wife there for her birthday because I thought it'd be right up her alley. It was like stepping back in time and having a meal in 1900. Would recommend to anyone, but be aware you won't get out for less than 350 including tip if you drink wine. Gratuity is added to all checks.
Amazing experience! Will definitely go again.
the cliché "best meal I ever ate" is often overused, but I can honestly say this was the best dining experience of my life. Everything was spectacular, from the ambience to the service to the food, and I could go on and on. Truly a special place - I can't wait to come back!
And we look forward to you coming back!
The McNinch House provided an absolutely lovely anniversary dinner! While the food was certainly good, and the service excellent, the real star of the night was the sommelier, who knocked it out of the park with every single wine pairing. A delightful evening!
Happy anniversary and thank you for visiting!
Chef’s choice menu with wines included.
We appreciate you taking the time to review. Thank you!
It was a beautiful house, a great deal of delicious food and enchanting Christmas decorations. Great for a relaxing night out, a special occasion or just when you want to treat yourself. The ambiance was old style upscale - a wonderful night out. Note: their white chocolate peppermint martini is delicious, festive and quite strong. I loved the old silver flatware and dishes and the excellent service. If I lived in the area I'd probably go regularly.
Thank you and we hope if you're back in Charlotte you'll be sure to visit again!
Outstanding food and service
We are thrilled you enjoyed!
Unique in Charlotte
Food is okay, atmosphere is amazing. Wine steward and wine pours are great. Bring your credit card... it’s expensive!!
My dinner at the Mcninch house was outstanding! It was magical. My special friend and I shared the 6 course tasting menu with the wine pairings. The food was outstanding in the sommelier was very knowledgeable and the wines match perfectly with our food. The staff was very engaging and almost made us feel like family. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.
I was very excited to take my husband for his birthday. The service was wonderful but the food disappointing.
Always have a wonderful time celebrating our Anniversary at McNinch House.
Two couples celebrating significant anniversaries plus two younger family members. Wanted a special place and had previously dined at the McNinch House a few years earlier. Staff asks every table as far as I could tell if it was a special occasion, but no further acknowledgement is made.
Menu had its least cost items priced significantly higher than anything I saw reported on the internet for this restaurant. I think it would be reasonable to place pricing on their website to correct what others have under-reported. Food was good but not exceptional. Ordered "jumbo crabcake" as first course. Like all portions, nothing rated "jumbo." Couldn't see how cheese ravioli qualifies as a main course item on a $100 per plate (plus 20% mandatory tip) dinner.
A lot of emphasis by staff to upsell wine options and "pairings." One mixed drink and two glasses of California wine (of no exceptional vintage) brought the total to over $900.00.
I believe the spouses were very pleased to have had this experience. For that I am pleased. However, not a restaurant I feel we will ever return.
We LOVED it!!! Wonderful food, great service... the perfect place to celebrate our Anniversary.
Perfect setting, great service. Passionate about the wine. Unfortunately, food did not live up to expectations.
As always. A wonderful evening
The food was very good. The wine pairing was mediocre at best. In our opinion, white wine should not have been served at room temperature plus the red wines were uninteresting - the pinot noir was bland. If we were to recommend the restaurant, we would advise friends to select their wine by the glass and forgo the pairing.
Very romantic and elegant
Great service and experience! The staff was tremendous, gave great recommendations and were very personable. Thanks again for a great evening.
Terrific food and great wine pairings Be prepared to pay extra for the ambience
A cool experience but not at all worth the money.
It’s a very nice restaurant. The service was great and we were very comfortable. Unfortunately the food quality did not match up to the prices being charged here. The food was prepared fairly well but the flavor levels and taste for each course were just not there and did not live up to expectations. Disappointed to spend this much money and not receive top notch cuisine.
Way too expensive for the quality of food.
