McNamara's Steak and Chop House Ratings and Reviews
This is a high-class, old style steak house. Great atmosphere, outstanding wine list, excellent food. Our waiter was less than attentive, and we had to ask when he should have been more alert. But the rest of the staff -- the folks who did the busing and the water serving -- were attentive and friendly (and should be commended).
We save McNamara's for very special occasions. We probably ought to go more often. Their house smoked fish appetizer is amazing. Their creme brule is the perfect way to end your meal.
We ordered three different steaks and they were all over cooked. We sent one back and it came back with only a small improvement. The veggies and starters were promising, and the serving staff were lovely, but at the prices charged the steaks did not deliver.
made a reservation, had to wait 20 minutes to be seated even though the restaurant was virtually empty, steaks were bland, and cold when they came out, and the coffee after my meal had a burnt taste, like it has been sitting for hours. when you pay this much for food, you should be wowed, not feel like you got ripped off--
i could have got a better steak at dennys-
We've lived in the area for 17 years, and had always wanted to try this restaurant, but never had the chance and looked forward to dining there with great anticipation. We have never been so disappointed. The service was very slow. The steaks were on par with any steak house at half the price. Although the location is extremely convenient, we've chalked it off as a restaurant to which we must return.
I reached the restaurant and there was a note on the door saying that they are closed today. I understand that there can be sudden issues but they should not let open table make reservations if they are closed. Because of this I didn't make any other reservation and I had to scramble around last minute to find a place to eat. Very disappointing.
I wouldn't recommend it. High priced food. Steak came our with canned crab meat on top not fresh crab. Steak was cold and entree sides were tired looking. Service seemed forced and not friendly hardly refilled our glasses with the 2 bottles of wine. Atmosphere was dated and too dark. The Indian gentleman who sat us was friendly invited and accomodating and the most pleasant thing about this steak house. I paid $300 for a birthday dinner and they did bring us a dessert. The lack of friendly attentive service and canned crab on cold steak I will not be back.
McNamara's today is not the restaurant it used to be. We had to wait too long to be seated even though there were few people in the restaurant. The service was somewhat inattentive. Of most significance, the food quality has declined measurably. Those in the party that had prime rib thought is was OK. The steaks, however, were not properly seared and not properly seasoned. We used to enjoy the ambiance of the library room with the large fireplace -- now that is not an option. After eating at McNamara's for many years, it is sad to see it in such decline -- they used to provide an exceptional dining experience, now it is very mediocre.
Slow service poor food. I ordered from the prime section of the menu. The steak was far from prime, big box stores have better prime. My baked potato was so cold, like they took it from the refrigerator, that the butter didn't melt at all. I could eat none of it. The waitress never came to the table after serving the meal to ask the perfunctory "how is everything?" Needless to say we will not be back, nor would we recommend eating here.
We had a great experience celebrating my son's 19th birthday here. The service was very friendly and attentive for our party of 6. The steaks and sides were excellent and portions were generous. It was not a busy night there so it was easy to talk and relax. The live piano music was lovely. Thank you to the staff for joining our celebration!
This was my go to place for over ten years for clients, special occasions and general great food. No longer. This was the worst dining experience I've at a restaurant of this caliber ever. I don't know what happened to make this place fall so far, but there is nothing worth referring here anymore but our server. She was by far the only bright spot.
We waited forever to get drinks. The commie waitress had a frown on her face hardly spoke a word and was very slow. The food was Luke warm at best and the size of chicken was extremely small. For 4 cost $200+. Can get much better for way less. We will not be going back
Went there to celebrate our 39th Wedding Anniversary. It was our first time there, and the ambiance was nice and fairly quiet for a Friday night. Live piano was very pleasant, and it was a place where we could talk in a normal tone without having to shout to be heard. Wait staff was polite, friendly and prompt with service. Food tasted good, too. We had two appetizers and entrees, and will have to try other menu items on our next visit.
The food was unremarkable. We all had steaks from their "prime selection" but they certainly didn't measure up to prime. Considering the menu made a point of describing doneness my medium rare, which should have been "red warm center" according to the menu, arrived medium at best. Considering we spent $300+ (including bottle of wine and cocktails), it is a restaurant worth forgetting.
NOTE: We transferred our Open Table points for a gift card in the restaurant. We left the gift card in the hotel so I'm hoping I can return the gift card for another.
Went here for Easter Brunch, the menu seemed last minute. Prime rib was ok , plentiful but lacked seasoning. The pastry table was the largest area seemed like they wanted everyone to feel up on bread and not food. Many of the pastry where cut in half. One small bowl of green with one dressing choice. Seasoned potatoes where like a blog of potatoes from the day before. The dish labeled bacon had a few beef ribs in the pan. There where zero dessert only the pastries mentioned. The atmosphere is nice and could of been a nice brunch, price was all most $200 for 5. Plus tip Will nit go back here, there are many other places to choose from which have good food
