McNamara's Steak and Chop House Ratings and Reviews
Server was less than attentive. Had to ask to have dirty plates and silverware and wine glasses removed between courses. Veggies were undercooked and crunchy. One steak was overcooked and the other undercooked. But the main jab, was being charged $3 split fee to split a $9 cesar salad. Ridiculous! Won't go back or recommend.
5 stars! This place is perfect for dates or nice family dinners. The food is great! Staff was very friendly and the wine was tasty! All these other reviews knocking down stars for timing of silverware, groupon expiring, timing of food, prices, being upset on Valentine's Day (or other major holidays) etc. don't do this place justice, to be honest. I've seen this in yelp too, don't pass this place up over some picky reviews! You get what you pay for and McNamara's is worth it!!
It was Valentine's Day and they were understaffed and overbooked. We were seated late and they seemed very confused at the front desk when we checked in. Our meal took an hour to come to the table and our waitress was trying hard but was running around very busy. She forgot to bring part of the meal and I noticed that the table across from us, who came in about 20 minutes after us, received their meal about a half hour before we received hours. My meal was great (prime rib and lobster tail) but my date was very displeased with his. First his steak was served cold (he ordered a ribeye) and when he asked for a replacement, they brought the same cold steak back on a hot plate. He said it tasted bad and the cut was poor, and he didn't eat it. He also ordered clam chowder and received something else that was too spicy to eat. So he basically paid for a huge meal that he barely touched. I was so disappointed. Will never eat there again.
We have enjoyed dining here many times, but this past Valentine's Day experience was dreadful. First of all, we look forward to having a leisurely drink or two next to their fireplace before going into dinner - so we make a point of arriving earlier than our reserved time. My husband checked in at the desk, and we no sooner had our drinks served, when the manager came over and asked if we were ready. No... A few minutes later, he came back again and said our table was ready, basically...lets go. We had these reservations for several months and were seated at a table nearest the kitchen where servers were bustling back and forth past us. We all complained about the draft and the location of the table but to no avail. The steaks were fine inside but the outside of the steaks were exceedingly dry...not at all up to their standard and certainly not worthy of a $300+ bill. We will think twice before we come here again especially during any kind of holiday.
Choice in meat quality is poor!!!! Tastes prefrontal. My husband ordered prime rib, should have been served pink in the middle was dry and disgusting all brown and cook d well done.... Lamp chops so raw it was gross. I'm not sure these chefs know what there doing, I'd like a refund for my 100.00$ meal. Totally a rip off. Plus 2 dirty shabby Indian guys in suits were smoking and causing in the front of the restraunt only to be seen later as manger positions. They need haircuts, and smoke in the rear of tge restraunt. I'm never going here again!!!!!
Ambience was great. We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday so he got a free dessert. Service was good, our server was a bit quiet. Our steaks were ordered medium-well but we both got well done so it was a bit over cooked for us but we didn't say anything. The food was otherwise very tasty.
This a fun place to meet my friend for dinner the bartender and food server was excellent. The food was outstanding I had the New York steak it was a very good choice, my friend had the prime rib we both were happy with our meals. I will definitely go back.
The man who greeted and seated us was very rude. At first I thought it may have been because my husband and I were dressed very casual and look very young, but I saw him seat several more parties and he was gruff with everyone. Since this was our first interaction at the restaurant I ended up sitting down with very low expectations for the evening.
Our waitress ended up being fabulous! Attentive but not intrusive and very friendly. The food was outstanding- not a single complaint in that department. My husband and I left the restaurant full and happy despite first impressions.
Went on a Friday evening to celebrate dads birthday, overall it was good but if your looking for the Kobe beef because what we had but if I was getting a good steak I'd go closer to home instead of 45 min away. Just a couple of little things, My dads a big whiskey drinker and wanted a double crown and mom wanted a margarita on the rocks no salt waiter sure no problem, moms drink came back in a martini glass no ice and salt all around the rim and then they were out of crown . Mom sent drink back cause that's not what she ordered and they fixed it dad got some other whiskey. Appetizers were good when we ordered mom ordered the wagyu filet I ordered the wagyu strip. Waiter came back and said they were all out of the Japanese wagyu filet. So mom got the same thing I had. But we were a bit surprised that they were out of Crown Royal and out of the Japanese wagyu filet which is why we chose to eat there. Overall it was good the wagy strip we got was delicious. Like I said if I was going just for a good steak I'd go to Vic Stewart's or flemings because it's closer.
Either the price needs to come down or the service and food needs to go up.
Food: Nothing special, seemed like the food was under heat lamps or left in the oven to keep worm until it was ordered. The food got cold very soon after we got it. Disappointed.
Service: Nice people but but the service was slow, uncoordinated and not prepared. Was asked if I ordered jambalaya, no I didn't try the next table. The server that takes the order should by the one that brings it to you.
Noise Level: There was a table of obnoxious people being extremely loud to the point that I was almost yelling to talk. But after an hour and 2 shoots later with their cook at their table they left. After that the noise level was normal and conversations could be heard and we left 20 minutes later thinking if we wanted a bar stetting we could have gone to a bar. Please tell your staff to enforce customers to be respectable and courteous, not every one wants to hear what you have to say at you table.
Ambiance: I will give you a good job on ambiance.
But other than the ambiance, It was like going to Applebee's or some other microwave food chain restaurant.
You live, you learn, good luck.
service was poor at best . my steak was good not into all the veggies. our son ordered the most expensive meal on the menu, filet steak combination left half on the plate, steak was tough.
my wife ordered the halibut dinner, also left on plate.
for almost $300 the meal should have been outstanding, sorry to say we were all disappointed.
don't think we'll be back anytime soon
Our reservation was at 8pm. We were seated at 830. The waiter was polite but was not very polished. The appetizers were decent. The steaks were over cooked as if the were previously cooked and being kept warm. Since we had carried out wine from the bar the waiter did not give us new glasses with the bottle of wine we ordered for with dinner.
For the $300.00 we spend....clearly i have had better.
This was our second time here. Food was OK, two ordered the strip and one had a lot of fat while the other was nice, one was ordered medium, one medium rare, both came out rare to medium rare. We split a salad and were charged $3 without mentioning it, we could have each gotten our own salad for a dollar more. The wedge was also about half the size of most restaurants. Service was definitely sub par, while they suggest on the bill to leave a 25% tip, no way. Vegetables were good, bread was fresh but not warm. For the price I expected a lot more at least in way of service. I think since we didn't order alcohol the waiter wasn't interested in a bill of only $150 for 3. Personally the steaks are better at the chains, as are the salads. It is less expensive than a couple of other upscale steak restaurants, but the ambiance, especially the entrance which was a huge hazard as both the steps and the handicapped ramp seem to be suffering from wood rot. We returned knowing the food wasn't all that great, but it was a special occasion and we had an excellent waitress last time. I doubt we will return.
My family and I went last Christmas Eve and it was great, but this year was a huge disappointment.
Service was not good and they made a mistake in our appetizer order and did nothing to correct it. The Piece of "prime" filet at $49 was not good at all and do not believe it was in fact prime.
Chef made a mistake with my husband steak. Instead of making a new steak correctly, the chef 'washed' the steak and sent it out to be served. We asked the waiter why the steak tasted 'boiled' and was so poorly prepared? The waited took the steak back and asked the chef what happened. The waited came back out to tell us the chef 'washed' off the sauce he accidentally poured on the steak. The waited felt bad and brought out a prime rib to replace it and didn't charge us.
Thanks to the waiter. But because of the chef's poor decision we will never be back! Maybe it's the pressure from bad management that caused the chef to do what he did. We'll let others know of our poor experience at your restaurant through poor rating and social media. I hope you can turn your restaurant around. It's tough being in the restaurant business.
Our second experience wasn't as good as the first. We were super disappointed with the side portions. The were VERY lacking. We saw more plate than food. The taste was good, but if it weren't for the delicious bread, we would have left hungry! The service was excellent! Sorry, we won't be back! There are a lot of steak house options out there.
