The food and service were wonderful! But a 5 person group got seated next to me and once everyone was seated OUTSIDE in their pulled out chairs I could have touched them with an outstretched arm. Might have been caused by them adding a fifth chair to the table.
Need more social distance while eating and talking without masks on.
Yummy food! Disappointed by limited menu...but food was tasty!
We went to happy hour at the tavern, their service wasn’t as great as the Woodshop. We waited 15 mins to even get someone to wait on us. Other than that, it was amazing!
We ate breakfast in the Tavern on the Square each morning of our 3 night stay at McMenamins. Nice menu options and very friendly, efficient and courteous staff.
My husband and I were staying at the Anderson School for his birthday and had some friends join us one evening for dinner at Tavern on the Square. I specifically requested at breakfast that day that we be placed at a table in the back of the restaurant towards the fireplace since the night before we’d been stuck at the noisiest, coldest table in the place right by the back door and I didn’t want that again. Guess what?! We ended up at the SAME EXACT TABLE AS THE FIRST NIGHT! They were busy, but not that busy at 5:45 pm and I mentioned something to the hostess as she sat us and she just kind of shrugged. She was the one that had taken my request at breakfast even. Then we had an entire 45 minutes between ordering drinks and food. Then they overcooked my crab cakes so badly that they were inedible. I didn’t even finish one of the three, but my waiter didn’t say a word about it, instead he noticed that they put onions on my friends burger and comped him a dessert. This is not a cheap meal and I expect more from a McMenamin’s. We won’t be going back anytime soon, that’s for sure. Super disappointed.
First time. Fun "hip" menu but with great Go To's. High end cheeseburger with an egg and solid clams app
The patio with heaters and the airflow is great for Covid and social distancing. The service was great and she was extremely responsive to our requests, the food was very good. We will most definitely return when in the area.
The fires wre blazing, the drinks were cold and served with efficiency! Thank you!
They were very prepared to follow social distancing regulations and still provided a great experience. Our waitress did seem quite busy but overall it was a good time and amazing food.
We very much enjoyed dining here the atmosphere was romantic and fun and that was just what we were looking for. Would highly recommend
A nice dinner with friends on the patio... a few to many people passing by but overall a great experience.
Waitress was wonderful and allowed us to stay for hours. The only reason I rated low is because the food was overcooked. I had fish and chips. The batter was very dark and fish was dry. The restaurant was not busy.
Breakfast was delicious. Service so friendly and fun.
Great food! Fun seasonal menu! We felt safe and socially distanced which is a plus. Outdoor seating was available.
The place is amazing. The food very tasty. The service slow. The music too loud.
We felt very uncomfortable with the number of tables sat in the restaurant. There were large swarms of maskless people outside, and they appeared very inebriated. Inside, we were sat in a room with about 7 tables. One two tables had guests, which felt safe- until a party of 12 was also sat in the room. The service and food are amazing, but this did not feel like a safe restaurant given COVID-19.
It was good food but took a long time to get it. We did receive 1 free dessert. It was very pricey for what we got so not sure we will be back for dinner, maybe lunch before 3.
Had the four course meal and found it to be very hot and miss on taste. Nothing was inedible but, main dish chicken was dry,. Crab bisque had very little crab and was too salty and the sweet potato pie was a big let down.
Also, while the service was friendly and fairly attentive it took a LONG time to get food out. I would stick with their Bar and grill across the court yard next time.
Usually a great place. We had outdoor seating with proper social distancing. There was a party of 20-30 people beside us that were really loud and were not observing social distancing and were in our space. They were really near us. I felt the management should have controlled them.
Tavern on the square is a fun, comfortable tasty restaurant. We sat inside but want to try their outside patio next time. Favorite thing? Their beignets. Yum
Love the Hawktoberfest Kolch. Paired perfectly with the Porkchop! Delicious.
The food here seems to not be as good as it used to be. Neither of our meals were cooked correctly. One was undercooked and the other was dry. Service was good. Just not a memorable experience.
We had a lovely dinner, we were seated promptly at the time of our reservation. Service was quick and the food was wonderful!
Super fun place with really good food snd amazing service.
Always love the patio, particularly during the time of the virus...but...somehow we missed that in our Open Table reservation and ended up inside near the fireplace. We were far from any other tables and felt quite comfortable despite being indoors and our waiter was so thoughtful and attentive - he even turned down the speakers overhead so we could carry on a conversation. Always a good time a McM's!
Unquestionably, it is a fun place to have a nice meal/dinner...
Sat outside by the fire and enjoyed a wonderful beer and dinner. Thank you for a great time. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt safe dining outside.
We were there close to closing but not closing. I specifically indicated that we would be ordering dessert at the beginning of the meal. When we went to order dessert our server indicated “the kitchen staff isn’t going to be happy”. Hmmm we dropped over $500 on dinner and drinks...I’d keep that to myself as I think she should have been checking back with us and filling our water and reminding us to order dessert. Otherwise fantastic
I made reservations and asked to sit outside. When me & my party arrived, they wouldn’t allow us to sit outside even though it was part of the reservation. The guy sitting folks was pretty rude, other than to the one or two people that knew him. He put us in a really noisy bar table. The weird part he wasn’t even acknowledge I made a reservation through Open Table. Maybe to make it look like a blew off the reservation. Overall the food is all right, but not worth the price. I had the shrimp and grits, it should be grits and shrimp because they were only a couple of pieces of shrimp. It was mostly a big tub of undercooked grits. The Old Fashion was ok, but again way over priced. This place has potential unfortunately it won’t get there with staff that are rude and can’t cook.
We were there for our 40th Anniversary celebration. The food was very good. It was Saturday night and busy so I rated the service as good. We will be back!
overcharged for the amount of tasteless biscuits and gravy..
While we did intend to have the harvest menu and indicated this on our reservation, we were not told it wouldn’t be available until after we were seated and given menus. We clicked on the link directly on the event website to make a reservation the same day, so this was surprising. However, the food and service were wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed dining on the patio.
We will come back.
The food was so flavorful and delicious we loved every bite. The hand pie was superb! Our server was kind and quick.
The toast and the hash brown were barely browned and were a bit cold. I tried to get coffee and had to flag someone down. I would love it if they would offer more fresh fruit and maybe a sweet roll with breakfast.
Our waitress was very attentive and kept us informed and the delicious food and drinks flowing. The pork chop was so moist and the grits had a perfect kick to them. The root vegetables could have had a plate of their own, they were the real standout. The Halibut was perfectly cooked and the added greens made the perfect light meal. My harvest gin and tonic was to die for. Great ambiance with the lighting and all the amazing antique fixtures. Perfect for a date night...
Informed, pleasant staff, and good foods. The spirits selection at the entire Anderson School is enviable. Our waiter was able to offer spot-on suggestions for various spirits relative our interests, and our cocktails had an ideal balance with layers of complexity.
The batter on the halibut was not to my liking, but that is strictly my personal preference. The halibut was perfectly fried and they made the fries extra crispy per my request; getting fries extra crispy is surprisingly difficult at most places. The Caesar salad was underdressed, but my partner thought it was decent; again, just a difference in preference. Don't miss the crab cakes if available, and definitely explore the house special cocktails. It's very clear that a lot of thought and effort goes into those. Get a cocktail and wander in the large courtyard, which is partially covered for any weather.
Celebrating special birthday with friends. Brussels and cauliflower app was delicious. We had to send back an entree, the duck - which had been out of this world on our prior visit. Restaurant took care of it and the replacement meal - halibut - was good and came out quickly, so we were still happy because service was so good. Again, we will be back.
Overall, our stay was awesome! The only disappointment we had was during breakfast. My eggs were cold and the hash browns were not crispy at all and under cooked! I would prefer to label them as hash lights! Also, our waitress took our drink order and we got them, but it was over 25 minutes. We had a reservation at 930 am and didn’t get our food until 1030. All said and done we left by 11 am. 1.5 hours for a simple breakfast is unacceptable in my opinion!
So fun!! We went multiple times during a weekend hotel stay and had a great time! We were talking crap about the mushroom pizza when we first saw it because it doesn’t look like much... but then we tasted it- OMG- incredible! Service is very good and ambiance is 5 stars.
The service and food were great. We sat outside and the setting was great. The Eastern Washington fires did make it a little smokey but did not detract from the dining experience.
