McMenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge
My "99" year old father had never been to that McMenamins. We have many family members who live on Oahu and wanted to experience some Aloha since we cant visit.
We had a lovely relaxation lunch! Cant wait till our next visit.
It took a very long time to get the food served. That said, we were there to enjoy out time together and visit, so it was not a problem for our group of four. We appreciated the distancing of tables and mask requirements. It was a lovely time.
McMenamins is one of our favorite local places. It was really warm that day so we asked to sit outside. Unfortunately it every table has an umbrella for shade. When we asked about moving to a table that had an umbrella we were told the table was reserved. Shirt & long, next time we’ll make sure to reserve a table with an umbrella when sitting outside.
Beautiful views from the patio, great food, very prompt service and as usual the beer was excellent!
Service is inconsistent; food is average. Drinks and ambiance are great.
We love McMenamins! Even with all that is going on right now they try and keep themselves and customers safe. The customer service is ALWAYS exceptional and the food is delicious! This was our first time having breakfast there. We left stuffed!
Service is slow so we make sure we have plenty of time. But the ambience is worth it with appetizers and a tasty beverage. Their cocktails are always top notch.
Excellent food and service as always, highly recommend it.
service was good! we had two servers checking on our table at times it was nice!
Love Kalama Harbor Lodge. It is so relaxing to sit outside, enjoy a wonderful meal, and watch the river flow by. It is so peaceful.
Unless you have anything other than an actual face mask they will refuse to seat you and find a manager to bring you a paper mask. All while you stand there waiting in their dining room “infecting” everyone around you for 10 min with your face covering that isn’t a mask but acceptable by the state. Makes no sense.
Outside patio service was great. Food was good. Would dine here again.
Service was much better for breakfast. Our server was great and the food was tasty!
First time at this McMenamins location. Enjoyed every moment. Food was excellent, service was top notch. Loved the location. Will definitely be back, probably in the fall to enjoy the changing color of the leaves
The server was nice and did ok. We were seated at 8:30 and ordered drinks and dinner by 8:40pm. It took over an hour for our food to come out. The server indicated the kitchen lost our ticket. The food was great. The very frustrating part was the attitude of the manager on duty. The server indicated that she (the manager) would take $20 off the bill. This seemed fair and I would have given higher marks had the manager come to our table. But nope, no apology or even a check in to see how we were. She looked like she would rather not be there. Having been a GM of a fine dining restaurant I would never have let this happen. A bummer, given it was our anniversary. We will be back, but this was a disappointing experience.
Excellent food and drinks! Felt that staff took appropriate precautions to keep patrons safe.
My wife and I have eaten here before but it was early spring last year so when we heard the weather was going to be in the 80's we had to go and sit out on the patio and we had a blast!!
This place was fantastic! We stayed at the Lodge for a couple of days and every thing we ordered was delicious! Highly recommend!
The Lodge was nice and easy to maneuver. The beverage we ordered were good. The food was okay but the delivery timing was off and staff didn’t take orders correctly. It took an hour for a waitress to process our cards because our original waitress never returned to our table.
We love this place and we will keep coming back again and again
We have been to many of the McMenamins locations, but this is the first time for us here. Service was a bit rocky, likely due to the current crisis. Still, we felt staff was trying hard to please the guests.
When we got to the restaurant there was a sign outside saying to check in for seating reservations; no one was at the station. Someone did show up after a few minutes and guided us to a Patio table. Tables were seperated a good distance and all staff were in masks and gloves. Our beers came reasonably quickly and we ordered a variety of food. An order of Tots showed up, were supposed to be Cajun, were not. Staff eventually got us some dry spice for them; it was OK. Our burgers were a mix; we had ordered medium and one came cooked correctly ant the other med-rare, which tasted great, but still. Our second beers had to be asked for twice, frustrating.
The venue location is amazing, viewing the river and watching ships go by. We will be back and I am sure staff will have a better handle on service.
The food is good. Over priced for amount of food that we had. One person in our party was overcharged for her extra chicken.
Our waitress acknowledged us a few minutes after we were seated. She was very nice
Food was good. They boast about their burgers but their buns are really dry. Dipped my bun in my ranch salad dressing to make it a little less dry. Thought maybe that was a one off, but the last two burgers I’ve had are the same. Atmosphere and location are amazing. Service is incredibly slow
I ordered the elk burger. The elk patty was charred black around most of it. brown throughout and difficult to cut though. I have had this at other McMenamin's and it was delicious but this was a huge disappointment. The location is lovely.
The food was amazing, the service was fast and friendly. The outdoor seating was beautiful!!
Such a beautiful spot for a lunch break. Amazing service, kind people.
Once again gave them a try, and once again they proved to show us their horrible service. Simple request for a water or refill of a bar drink seemed to be to much. Had to go and locate our server to ask her again for things.
Food was good, as usual. It’s to bad that they can’t get quality staff to work here. The location is awesome and makes for a nice place to go and hang out on a nice day. The servers/staff appearance looks like they just rolled out of bed and the lack of caring about their table/customer shows
We were seated with one menu for 4 people. The air conditioning was blowing to the point it was cold.
Server had one other table where we were, not real interested with us when we just ordered dinner.
Burger was under cooked. Fish and chips very dark, like oil needed changed and my salad was floating in dressing.
This visit was so not what we have experienced here in the past.
Hopefully it was just an off day.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. I had a keilbasa sandwich and it was out of this world. Also the pretzels and cheese are fantastic. I had a special drink request and they made it perfectly. We sat outside and it was windy but it was still great.
The experience was great. They handled social distancing well and it was very enjoyable.
Fish & chips were skimpy, especially for the price. Drinks were outrageously expensive, even on happy hour. Other food was very good. Everything else was lovely. We sat outside. Beautiful view. Great waitress.
Food was good but service was slow. I am sure with covid things are different
This was my first dining experience since Covid 19 started. I felt very safe in the way i was treated, seated and served.
The Dilly Tuna Salad Sandwich and Blue Bayou Salad with grilled chicken added were delicious and generous portions. The outdoor seating was refreshing and we felt safe covid-wise. All staff wore face masks. It was a lively environmental with families and children being a Sunday summer evening. Can't wait to dine there again. Reservations recommended.
I love this place on a sunny day. We go often. Try the brisket sandwich and Cajun tater tots!
Our service was very slow. We were there for almost 3 hours and we had very simple orders and each only ordered once drink. We sat outside so the sunset was beautiful and liked that atmosphere.
The manager Trisha was SO fun and she made the evening memorable by her up beat personality, her passion, and was very informative about the history of the McMenamins restaurants.
Birthday dinner. The server was nice, but she seemed to be anxious and also not organized.
The food ,drinks and service was excellent. Very relaxing sitting outside along the river
Fantastic experience, beautiful setting!! This is definitely one of our go to spots in the area!!
Mcmennamins in Kalama sits on the columbia River. Its a beautiful place with a long paved walkway for a nice liesurely walk before or after dinner. The service is good, food is good, and really a nice place to go. We have been there several times now. Its worth it.
Had fun. Cajun tator tots rock. Our waitress was amazing.
