McMenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge

Under the current circumstances and demands, it was great to be able to finally eat indoors and visit with my friend! Food was good, as always. We will be back. In fact, we have decided to meet there once a month. I live in Portland; she lives in Rochester, WA.

This was my second visit in less than a week. Love the outside ambiance if only the weather would accommodate! Their were 11 of us to be “brought inside” on Saturday due to weather and the staff was very helpful in doing so. Tables for 5-4-2 were within seeing distance. Wednesday was a “sisters lunch” outside and we were very well taken care of. Thanks for being open during this difficult time.

First time in 3.5 months to eat at a restaurant. Patio, sunshine and breeze was wonderful. The wait staff very informative about masks, distancing, etc.

They are a very nice resturant and the location is superb. Staff was great and very helpful. They followed all the social distancing policy and felt very safe eating there. Only drawback was took some time getting our meals and they had cooled off very fast. But great value for your money and the location along the river is fantastic.

Perfect evening. COVID rules followed with staff wearing masks, guests asked to wear them going to and from table(sadly everyone did not) Tables spaced apart, paper menu's water fill-ups were not from a pitcher but a new glass brought to your table. Menu choices reasonably priced. Very busy for Father's day, reservations recommended just in case it is a busy night. Indoor and outdoor seating, sat inside as evening was a little cooler. Beautiful view in Pub and Cloud.

Our server was slow and scattered. My mother who is 69 wanted to order off the kids menu. Our server made a big deal like she needed authorization. Also, my mother had double knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago. The chairs outside were unco6. We asked if she could sit in of of the lower cushioned chairs. Again, we were made to feel as though we were committing a crime. Iced tea refills were sparse. Our waitress also paid more attention to the tables on either side of is. Due to the service, we will not be back. Our servers n as me was Amanda T.

Overall this experience was lovely. I had to ask to be re-seated outside due to the wind since I was on the corner it was whipping me. I asked twice, the second time they moved me.

They try to keep all the people with dogs in one area outside which can make it harder for the dogs, as they want to say "hi" to each other!

My server was friendly - attentive. The salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious the vegetables were fine, but there wasn't much (8 or 9 thin spears asparagus). I was still hungry so I ordered another item.

I'll be back as this is one of the only places you can be so close to sand, water, food and seating outside within 30 minutes of my house! Thanks guys. Cheers

2 stars mostly due to poor service at the Kalama location. Read on:
McMenamins is one of my favorite restaurant chains. I'm a wine club member. I LOVE their cajun tots, a good Commie burger, a good variety of brews on tap and wine. Big fan of their pizza.

The reservation process went VERY well on Open Table. I even got help from Kalama to reorganize into 3 tables for social distancing for 9 people outside. Very accommodating for a Father's Day lunch.

Food was good, not as good as usual, though. Like I said, I love McMenamins, and I realize that restaurants are just opening up again for dining, but this first visit to Kalama was disappointing.

We were seated and right off the bat the server said they were coming back with waters and drink orders. We asked to put in an appetizer order of cajun tots at that time (1145am). Place wasn't empty, but sure as heck not crowded.

Waters came back quickly, got our drink orders in, everything seemed ok. We were pretty casual, enjoying the scenery of the Columbia opening fathers day gifts, but we were ready for our wine, beers, sodas etc. Got those 5-10 minutes later

12p, still no tots, but at least got our food order in.

My mom's lunch was a salad with added chicken, which is on the menu, not special order. My wife and I ordered a small pizza and a salad to share. Some burgers for everyone else, one with soup.

You'd think pizza takes a little longer, and you'd get salads first. We got the pizza around 1230 before any other item of food, even the tots appetizer.

Dad's bunless burger (with tots btw) comes out basically the same time as the pizza. Burgers come out 5 minutes later (soup is cold). Mom's salad arrives...but no chicken. Still no appetizer tots, which we tried to cancel,but got around 1250 anyway. Mom didnt get her chicken until 12:55.

We asked for the check as we got our appetizer, knowing we had to leave soon. Got it at 1:20p because wait staff-person left in her back pocket and forgot to give to us.

With the new Covid 19 expectations it was nice to see that social distancing was taking place through the whole establishment. Service was not as quick as usual, but it was nIce to have a leisurely time with family and not be right up against other dining parties. To be honest, I would not be upset if this became the new norm. The food and drinks were great. Sad that the dessert menu was very limited, but understandable.

We have not been out for several months and really have always enjoyed McMenamins. We wore our masks into the restaurant until seated, with adequate spacing. Your staff ALL wore their masks. The meal was excellent - what we expected - and we really enjoyed the setting. Our only concern was we saw very few other guests with masks. That is, when lining up to enter the establishment, entering and wandering around, etc. Many of the guests did not appear to be paradigms of health and so had to wonder. Anyway, I think we will come your way, at Kalama, again but, if you don't start turning away those who do not share a concern for the virus our next visit will be the last.

Excellent experience sitting outdoors on the bottom floor watching the ships and walkers
passing by in a lovely Hawaiian ambiance. Food was great! So was the beer!

McMenamins Kalama Lodge is an awesome place for dining, especially if the weather permits eating outside. There are plenty tables outside and each one has a river view and nice landscaping surrounding the area. Our service was very prompt and the food was fantastic.

Great view! Love the outdoor space, which has a roof in case it rains--you can still enjoy a meal outside. The physical distancing and reservation system worked out really well. I felt very comfortable dining here.

This was our first experience out after things began to open up. We were celebrating a late Mother’s Day and early Father’s Day. They did a great job with the social distancing!

Made a reservation knowing it was Friday night and going to be busy. I checked in early and went to gift shop while I waited for my party. While waiting, staff seated another party at our table and we had to wait another 30 minutes. Completely ridiculous.

Also service is normally super slow and it was decent in comparison to the past. Our server was great.

Atmosphere - great! Service was great, bar has improved a lot, due to COVID-19. In the past it has taken a very long time to get anything from the bar. Everything was GREAT.

Was such a treat to be able to sit outside and enjoy lunch

The tater tots were soft and soggy. No cajun seasoning at all. The restaurant is at half capacity and the waitress took over 15 minutes to bring a box and then the check.

This was my best experience at McMenamins. I really like the reservation requirement!! The wait staff was great and friendly. Everyone followed the social distance requirements and the food was as good as I remembered!!! I loved my Ruby

We have always loved their food. I have my favorites, and was a little bummed that one of them wasn't available yet, as they are still just opening back up. But they assured me to come back in about a week or so and they should have it all back up again....in the mean time, I was able to enjoy their Truffle Fries with is always a wonderful choice. Great customer service, wonderful ambiance and as always, a great time.

Great food despite understandably limited menu. Please wear your mask for arrival and until you are served. Wonderful service and the view of the ships passing along the river is enchanting.

This McMenamins is located right on the waterfront in Kalama. The scenery is beautiful and the staff are super friendly. The menu doesn’t seem to change a lot but they do carry all locally produced dishes that we enjoy.

We so enjoyed having a chance to get back to Kalama, and Open Table made it easy to make sure we had a seat. We felt safe dining in, food was great and service was the highlight.

It was awesome! I had a lemon drop and a cheeseburger and both were excellent. Server was great and bartender as well. Hostess was friendly. Ambience was great!

Food was great, I really enjoyed the mystic vegan burger and the white wine flight. My friend really liked her Jamaican bowl and loved the cider. Staff was friendly. The only negative thing to say about our visit was that my fries and the side order of tots were a very small portion. But we would definitely go back.

Burger, salad, cappuccino and beer was all delicious! Amazing service and then we had dessert delivered to our room. All made for a perfect weeeknd🏞💙

My friends and I ordered the same thing, fish and chips. It was very greasy as well as the fries. One of my friends sent her meal back and chose not to order anything else. I have dined there once before and it was excellent. We ate in the bar and was very pleased with the whole experience. This time we were put in a large room from the bar and it felt cold and impersonal. I would go again and possibly recommend it to others. After being kept at home by the virus for these long weeks was looking forward to dining there but the disappointment left me empty. Hope my next dining experience there is much like the first one or I will not return or suggest it to anyone. Everyone was very friendly so would give 5 stars to the staff under the conditions they have to work by.

All precautions were taken to make us feel safe. Food and atmosphere was fantastic.
