McMenamins Elks Temple
A rainy mid week morning with a wood fire burning in the fireplace and a water view out the window. Waitress Heidi was excellent at her job. Food was D-lish.
Celebrated my 44th birthday
After visiting some of the building's bars we enjoyed our meal at the restaurant. We had asked for water view seating and one of us could see the water. The other seat had a wall blocking any view.
Our meals were tasty. Husband's burger was too moist for the bun and the entire thing fell apart. Fries were especially tasty. My slices of pork roast with cheddar jalapeno grits was super! Had enough for another serving the next day.
Excellent food and excellent service. We had such a great time!
We love to go to the Tacoma McMenamin’s because we love the decor, the food and the feel. We wish it didn’t take so long to get served.
Great breakfast. Great food. Great service. Will be back again
I love mcmenamins but I have to say I was disappointed this visit. We were there to celebrate my moms birthday and no one made any effort (despite my encouragement) to make it special. We are in the pub. The service was soooooooo slow. 30 minutes to get my drink. And it was a weeknight, not busy. The food is ok, not great, and overpriced I think. I love the place and will keep going back but not a place I’d recommend for a special occasion dinner.
Dry salmon. The waiter didn’t come much.. I expected more for the hype
The chicken wings, fresh cut fries, and Icelandic mule were amazing.
Food was very good. I had the Elk Burger. Views were nice and the place was very quiet. Will come back and tell other about it.
The food was good, the atmosphere is fun, and the staff was friendly, but some of the waiters looked as if they'd been dragged in from the bus station. Some sort of dress code might be advisable.
Great environment but hard to talk for noise level.
Great happy hour
Girlfriend luncheon and we all had a good time. Exchanged gifts enjoyed food and wine. Our server was very good.
The view was amazing overlooking the water! Food was delicious. Our server was swamped so service was not as attentive as we would like but overall a very unique and fun restaurant.
First time at McMeniman's for dinner and entertainment and it was great. The remodel was great, the food excellent, the beer and drinks exceptional, and the service outstanding. Definitely crowded, though, on weekend evenings so be prepared.
We truly enjoyed our evening the restaurant. The only complaint was that the waitress took so long to take our drink orders. Then she took forever to come and take our food orders. There was 4 of us at our table and 3 of us had beer and 1 had Iced Tea. We were stopping other waiters to just get the tea refilled. Once our meal was brought we never seen our waitress other then while she was in passing until she brought us the bill. Our food was delicious the atmosphere was wonderful. But the waitress was horrible.
the breakfast was so delicious and then we sat right in front of the fireplace made it even better.
The food was great and service was awesome! Will definitely recommend to friends and neighbors.
I've eaten here several times for dinner and it has been ok, not great but reasonably good. But we ate here for breakfast after an overnight stay and I have to say their breakfast menu is terrific. The benedicts were all delicious and my friend's acai bowl was beautiful. I would definitely recommend the Pub for breakfast.
New Years Eve
Great atmosphere, delicious food, great service! I will be back!
Me and my fiance spend our first new year at McMenamins in Tacoma I really enjoyed it I would recommend it to friends and relative I definitely would be back and also all the staff was professional and great thank you
Dinner was awesome and service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and nice. Will recommend to neighbors and friends.
Good was absolutely terrible!!! May keep me from coming back and they were out of have their menu, including cherries for drinks’ 😡
Love the bright decorations and atmosphere! The food and drinks are delicious and service is great.
This is probably the fourth time we have been here. This last time is that food was very good as usual but the service was amazing. The only thing that was frustrating was it took about 4
5 minutes to 60 minutes for us to receive our meal. I just kept thinking if we had our grandchildren it would’ve not been a great experience. I don’t know if they were understaffed that day?
Fun place, very eclectic and full of variety. Check out the secret bar, and shrimp-Grits to die for. Highly recommend. Also a great view of Tacoma looking east.
Second time there, and a much less enjoyable experience. First, they were out of the salmon by 6:30 pm. After waiting an hour and ten minutes for our food, my filet came charred (ordered medium rare) and my friend’s side was wrong. Server was rarely seen. It was a busy Saturday night, but we were there on a busy Friday night last time and had a much better experience. Expect more for the price.
We had a great time. Steaks were perfect. Servers very attentive. Fair selection of wines by the glass. Diverse menu. We did not feel rushed though it was very busy and many were waiting for tables. Reservations are a must on weekends! We will be back!
It was great to have a reservation because the walk-in wait was 3 1/2 hours.
We loved our waiter! He answered all of our questions and suggested other things to do within the building.
We had so much fun exploring the building and working on our passports!
Fantastic food and drink. If you are going on a weekend or have a large group on a weekday, reservations are a good idea.
Entertaining design elements with Antique chandeliers throughout. Food was excellent, but service was a bit slow but it was during the holidays. McMenamins has done a very nice job of preserving this Tacoma gem. Be sure and take time to walk the property. Nice views of Commencement Bay.
Having been in the hospitality industry myself for 20 years and having owned my own business for 20 years, I believe my work history has credibility. So I'm only telling you this for your benefit. You desperately need a dress code for your staff. They all looked like they just came in from feeding the chickens. A simple black pants/shirt and white blouse would do. That would reflect the dignity so much deserved for this amazing establishment. Staff should reflect how proud they are to have the opportunity to work at such an incredible business. Staff was also a little cold. Food was so-so - nothing special. Service was way too slow for the number of patrons at the time. We've dined at several of your other places and in professional opinion, this one needs an improved staff.
Christmas night out.
Family Christmas dinner, 5 people. Sat for 20 minutes before a server came to greet us. Said it had been a hard day. When finally able to order food, they were out of several options on a fairly limited menu choice(NO Salmon, NY Steak, Flat Iron Steak, Cod) and this was at 6:30pm with several hours of dinner service to go. Food we had was pretty good, but made a special occasion not so special.
It was ok for a one time thing. The service was not good, our waiter never refilled water glasses and checked on us once. Food wise, the value was not worth what we paid.
We really enjoyed our visit. We toured the building before going into pub for dinner. We were there for Christmas dinner. By our 5pm reservation, they were already out of 4 or 5 menu options. Food was fantastic. Service was great. We look forward to returning.
We enjoyed our holiday brunch. Great service & fun atmosphere.
