Fun and true McMenamins experience. Menu has some items that can be found at other locations, wish they noted items that were location specific.
Brunch was great as always, though very quiet for some reason. Hopefully we’ll be past the current social distancing needs soon.
Great dinner in the main dining room and then we explored the whole place. It is fun place to hang out but very crowded.
The service was good. However I had to return an undercooked burger for my toddler.
A lovely place to celebrate my birthday. The ambiance is fantastic, and there a lots of great choices of food and drinks on the menu. We enjoyed our time there very much.
We had a great time at McMenamin's Elks Temple, and a tasty meal at the main restaurant. It's a fun spot!
Food very good. Beer selection outstanding. Interesting dishes. Waitstaff terrific. Eclectic ambiance
The brussel sprout starter was very small. Parking was difficult. The atmosphere was upbeat and enjoyed the tasting room.
A fun and lively ambiance. Gorgeous and guady decor. Had to wait for quite a while after our was food served to get actual utensils to eat with, my husband was ignored at the bar. Pepper mill was empty and had to wait for that too. Also, ordered caesar dressing for salad but was given a cesar salad instead. We had 5:30pm reservation so place was busy with early diners, but for the price, I expect a better prepared service.
Loved finally seeing the beauty of the old building
The Waiter and Staff are outstanding. Excellent people skills Presentation of food done very nicely.
Steak was excellent. All the food was good. Pricey but worth it for a date night.
Shouldn't take an hour to get your food.
Great mahi-mahi and a good selection of drinks. Recommend having reservations for dinner times.
We had a great time here. The happy hour parmesan truffle tots were delicious and a great value! I ordered the Grit City shrimp and it was good. My wife got the elk burger (but subbed a beef patty) and it was outstanding! The ambience is spectacular and although it was fairly noisy, it still felt intimate. We will be back!
Very clean, interesting decor, staff are attentive, great customer service skills. Noisy place though!
It was our first time here. Food and service were excellent. The server and the kitchen actually researched whether a meal had gluten in it for me, which was much appreciated. Drinks were good, as well. We sat in a high traffic area, which wasn’t our favorite, but we had a nice view next to a window. It was a bit pricey, but it was a special occasion for us so we didn’t mind. We actually got in before our reservation time, which was a surprise. Overall, a great experience.
Had the worst server I've ever experianced.
Took at least 45 minutes just to see our server. Great food. Great atmosphere.
This was our valentines dinner. We had the special entree. It was just okay. We enjoyed the atmosphere and our server and plan to give it another try sometime.
We had dinner in the pub but had drinks at the various bars and had to grab the lilikoi coconut dessert at the tiki bar. I highly recommend exploring this building. The tiki bar was great dessert was delicious. The staff was really friendly throughout. For dinner we had the Brussels sprouts, cajun tots, and truffle fries as appetizers. So good. For our main meal we had salads. My husband had the Aztec salad with tofu and I had the harvest moon with the smoked salad added.
Took my guy here for Valentines Day. What a fabulous time we had. Started with dinner at the McMenamins Pub. We chose the “Specials” they had and both couldn’t be happier. Our drink of choice was there Pilsner. Tim our waiter was excellent just making our experience better! Ended our evening in the Spanish Ballroom with tributes to Led Zeppelin & Heart. Perfect! 👍
When i made the reservations, i requested a table with a view, i explained we were arriving with another couple and that we had just gotten married. I am not sure what i was expecting, but there was nothing, we had to request silverware, 2 of us had to brush crumbs off of our chairs before we could even sit, the waitress took our order after we flagged her down, she brought 2 soups, forgot the third, we had to request that, flagged her down for more coffee. when we sat down I asked for champagne for a toast, we reminded her about that. it was at 11. you had just switched from breakfast to lunch. the food was lukewarm, but at that point we were just so disappointed we wanted out of there. i did not understand the point of you having a request box, for is this a special occasion? if you do nothing about it. The ceremony was lovely, but you and your staff and lack of effort on your part, quickly took the wind out of our sails. it was really really really so disappointing. Karen DuCharme-Axt.
a must see for Tacoma, four floors of bars, food, pool, music in a fantastic setting. a great night out, even have a hotel if you dont want to leave.
We had an out of town guest and invited him to McMenamins Elks Temple for dinner. Service was great, delicious food, and wonderful ambiance. After dinner we took a tour of the amazing building. It is a classic old building that has been beautifully restored, with delightfully imaginative decor in each area. There are many unique eating locations and bars to choose from. We were impressed with the variety and quality of the lighting features as well as the good food. Wow! What a bonus for our home town, Tacoma. We will encourage our out of town visitors to stay here, too.
So unique and intimate. Server was excellent and food yummy!
Dinner with family and friends for a birthday. Great food, great experience.
Loved the place.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We meet some friends for dinner and had a wonderful experience
Our group of six seniors went to McMenamins at the old Elk's Temple on a Friday night. Only one of our group had been there before and that was for lunch, so we didn't know what to expect. As I expected, parking in the area was a problem but, I eventually found a spot that was a reasonable walk to the place. Our reservation was at 18:45 and that was a fine time as the Pub was not crowded or noisy. It got much busier with lots of younger folks arriving as the evening wore on. The service was excellent. Our server assisted us promptly and was attentive without hovering. Drinks and appetizers arrived quickly. The Cajun Tots were a popular starter and the large portion was more than adequate for 6 to share. I ordered the Philadelphia pizza off the Specials menu and it was good, especially the crust. The Cioppino was ordered by one and was highly praised. The New York steak was ordered by one and was also highly praised. Others had the Fish and Chips, Planked Salmon and Pork Chop and all were praised. For dessert we got four different desserts to share. Of the four, the Bread Pudding was the resounding hit with our group with the Marionberry Cobbler a close second. All in all we were all very satisfied with service, food, ambience and the experience other than the parking issue and all agreed we would come back again. If I could, I would have given it Four and a Half stars as the only gripe was the parking.
Service was great, beers are excellent but had issues with our food orders. Not sure if the server made the error, or the kitchen. Our second server (first one left our section for the night) was very friendly and apologized for the error and even had our bill discounted, so that meant a lot! Still one of our favorite spots.
Great experience. Good food and drink. A definite must if you have never been.
We had breakfast and it was delicious! Service was great!
Visiting this McMenamins location is entertainment in and of itself. There are several dining venues in the building and this is the only one that takes reservations. The room and ambiance are great. Being vegan, we were happy to see 2 items on the menu though they were good but a bit lacking in flavor. The truffle fries are tasty. If you go be sure to make time to tour around the building.
Just a nice place for Sunday breakfast.
So glade that we didn’t get sat at the bar that girl who works Sunday mornings is horrible she just talks to some guy that she works with that sits and drinks at 8 am and never comes over and refills drinks or gives us our check in a timely manner
Fun place! Good food and service. Just not if you want intimacy, too loud and busy. They did an outstanding job with the place!! Def going again.
The reservation system did not work properly. We were suppose to get text message when out table was ready we waited 20 minutes and decided to see what was going on. Our table had been ready but they could not get the notification system working properly. And our reservation was for 4:45 and didn’t get seated till 5:10pm. We did show up about 30 minutes early and tried to get a drink before dinner at Docs but a waiter never came around. That was after I asked the bar if the was still a wait staff and we were informed that someone would be around shortly.
Fun ambience and atmosphere. Boring flavorless food
