McLoone's Pier House - National Harbor Ratings and Reviews
The crab appetizers were amazing but the crab cake sandwich was disappointing. It was good but nothing to write home about. For the price and location, I expected more lump crab meat and less filler and pieces of crab. The service was unbearably slow - we are the only ones in there for lunch for the first hour and lunch took two hours!
I have visited the restaurant five times, and this is the first review I have written. This place is loud, and there is no separation from the bar and dining area. The prices are not cheap either. There a just so many better places to spend that amount of money on dinner, and have a nicer dining experience.
Rushed was given new meaning when we arrived at 6:25 pm for a 6:30 reservation. The waitress was nice and did indicate that is was going to get busy after 7, so she wanted to take care of us before the rush. Oh, she rushed, the before dinner drinks, the appetizer and main courses all arrived at the SAME time. We paid our bill at 7:35. Never again.
The service was very slow and we were one of the only parties in the restaurant. When they did bring out our food it was cold and came at various intervals so some of us had to eat before the rest of our party. The scenery was pretty, but the service was very poor.
I celebrated my birthday with family and must say the entire dining experience was memorable. From the seating view, the delectable food selections and proportions to the friendly hostess greeting topped off by our engaging and one step ahead server, Chris.
It was indeed a pleasure!
We decided to eat at McLoone's Pier House at the National Harbor because we were in town for the Marine Corps Marathon. It was a quick walk from the Gaylord hotel where the Race Expo was being held, very convenient. The food was great, our service was wonderful and the sunset view was spectacular. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to a friend as well as return in the future!
Our friends got there before us - and were rushed as though they were late. They arrived 3 minutes before actual reservation time! We wanted to move tables - and did - but were told its going to be VERY busy. I can't even say the restaurant was 1/2 full. Our waitress was nice - but others seemed lost. maybe because they weren't busy and had nothing to do! Maybe it was just an off night for all.
Very courteous, professional and accommodating staff. We had the buffet brunch which was not kept as warm. However, the food was tasty and substantial portions. The dessert/pastry table could have included other desserts and elevated in presentation.
Overall we had a great dining experience. I will recommend to others. Thanks for accommodating our ever increasing numbers.
Date night with Trish and Vernon 09/23/17. Have been here on several occasions of our many visits to National Harbor and never disappointed until today. Here to celebrate our wedding anniversary with friends and had asked for a window table (party of 4). The hostess acknowledged our request, and immediately sat us at a mid room table. I turned and asked her about a window table pointing to the 3 tables that were empty by the window. She smiled and said they are probably reserved and we are really busy. REALLY???????? Some of the entrees were a bit less than what we had experienced in the past. The filet mignon was not as tender as would have been expected at the price ($39) and would be a stretch of the imagination to think it was anything over 6oz. The Caesar Salad with Grilled chicken was described as nothing less than excellent, moist chicken nicely seasoned and a great Caesar !!! Two entrees were the crab cakes. Both servings were nicely sized (about 4oz. per cake) but one of the cakes was very dry and none of the cakes were served hot....just slightly above room temperature. The smashed sweet potatoes and the vegetables were not even warm. Would have asked for them to be replaced, but did not see our server (who was not the one that delivered our entrees) and was not to be found for another 15+ minutes. When he did check in, he asked how everything was and I responded that our dinners were cold....he smiled and said good and asked if we needed anything right now. I just shook my head no. 10 minutes later he returned with our check and never even asked if we would like to see a dessert menu! Such a disappointing experience when we have always expected and received a positive experience in the past. They have a lot of competition near by, so people have plenty of options....and they should consider them. Sorry McLoones.....you really missed the mark this time.
It took a while for them to seat us because they had a section that was open but didn't have a server assigned to that section. They didn't recognize our anniversary which I know I put on the reservation. Two servers actually came to the table introducing themselves as our server which showed that there was no communication between the staff. The food was ok. They pulled two tables together that didn't match so one table was wider than the other making the seating a bit uncomfortable. The whole experience wasn't bad but it wasn't really good either especially on our special occasion.
Service was horrible starting with the hostess and the horrible waitress. Drinks were incorrect and food took 50 minutes to arrive and was cold. Bar manager came and said she would remake the order. No apology was given. Second order of food was mediocre and very salty. Will not eat here again.
The food was mediocre and completely overpriced. We had horribly slow service and my husband's steak was completely overcooked, he told the waitress and said he didn't want to pay for and especially didn't want to wait for another steak since we had already waited so long. When we got the bill the steak was still on the bill. He asked to speak the manager but she would not remove the steak from the bill because our table was already busses so she didn't have proof he didn't eat the steak. She wouldn't take our word for it. I don't think we've even experienced such poor customer service especially for a meal that cost $120. Will never go back and would never recommend it to another person. My husband emailed the general manager and he never even took the time to reply. I would give this restaurant 0 stars if I could.
Food was just okay but we expected that. We went to dine outside and we did enjoy the view . Service was mediocre at best. Took too long to serve drinks and a second drink wasn't delivered until the meal was almost over. Never checked to see if food was ok after serving. Won't be running back. Too expensive for quality.
The food was good and our table service was great. The main issue was that our drinks didn't come out until after we had eaten our appetizers and our mains had come out. I could see if we had ordered some complex drinks but a simple glass of wine and beer from the tap.
