McLoone's Pier House - National Harbor
McLoone's Happy Hour
Come enjoy some of McLoone's most popular items at a special price, Monday Through Friday in the bar and cocktail area!
Lump crab, mashed potatoes, sauted spinach, charred lemon caper sauce
It started out as a good night, we got our appetizers and our drinks but went downhill from there. Over 45 minutes later still no dinner. We ended up having to leave and couldn’t wait any longer but Sharonda was an amazing manager and comp’d our items and apologized profusely. We also loved Don the bartender so it balanced out the night to make it not so terrible. The appetizer we had was good just wished we could have gotten our food...
For a lovely view of the sunset and good seafood dishes, this place is a very good choice.
McLoone's is a fantastic place to get a feel for Maryland food, culture, and ambience. The seafood there was to die for - crab-stuffed shrimp, crab-stuffed salmon, and delicious salads just to name a few examples. A fantastic place to bring people from out of town or to meet up with friends for a good meal.
I made a reservation for four and everything was ready when we arrived. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. The food was very tasty. One complaint was that the entree came before we had completed our appetizers. There were few people in the restaurant so there was no need to rush us. A nice selection of wine by the glass. My meal was exactly what I expected, was tasty and cooked just right. No one in our party of four complained about their meal, although the fish of the day was an enormous meal. All in all, we would come back again.
Great ambience with water view and decor. Good food and decor.
Everything was wonderful. Food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommend!
It was amazing. I love our waitress. Everything was fairly quick, and there were lots of options in terms of eating. Thanks for the experience!
We took my mother in law here for her birthday dinner. She's a seafood lover and enjoyed the calamari and stuffed shrimp! Kenneth was our waiter...in fact he was the ONLY waiter. I have to commend him because he was very kind and courteous. He was as attentive as he could be. I enjoyed the scallops and the entire party agreed their food was delicious. Will definitely be back.
Went there for Sunday Brunch. Lot of food choices. Almost all were very good except the pasta dish which was very tough. Great service and view. To make the 30$ price worthwhile you must bring a great appetite.
The experience overall was good.
McLoones overall was nice for a week day date night. The manager was attentive to the patrons. Food was tasty and the portion size was just right. Our server was okay she said "she was not feeling well" and it showed. Overall I would go back again maybe for happy hour with friends.
We enjoyed a restaurant week three-course dinner. The service was very friendly and both our server and the manager handled an awkward situation extremely well. The day after the Super Bowl the restaurant's wine and liquor order had not been delivered. We ordered a bottle of wine they did not have in stock three different times. On the third, the manager came to the table with the server to apologize and explain. He offered to give us a glass of something else to try before getting a bottle. It's how a difficult situation is handled that sometimes defines excellent customer service. We loved the multi-ethnic groups who enjoyed dining there that night. A+!
Interesting entrance - through the hallway that had a strange odor. We were seated as a couple waiting for the rest of our party, 3 others. The restaurant was not busy. Our waiter, Myles, was not on his game today. I ordered a glass of wine and asked for lemon wedges for the water. Our other guests showed up and the waiter immediately asked if we were ready to order. The wine was brought, the waiter set the empty glass on the table, held the tray between his legs and poured the wine from a mini carafe, emptied one half the wine in the glass and took drink orders from others. I examined the wine glass, dirty, food on the edge. I told the waiter this was unacceptable. He took away the glass and returned with a new glass. He m hi mumbled an apology. Food was good, except for the "Mozzarella sticks", were triangles over fried and not tasty. My guest ate one of four. Waiter was not observant, asked if it was to be boxes to go as well as the chicken tenders which were Al as O overcooked, told him no - any other restaurant would have questioned the patron. The restaurant music was in your face, loud and not suitable IMHO. We will not patronize this eating establishment again.
The funny thing that as many times as I have been to the national harbor, Ive never looked at McLoones as an option and when reviewing the restaurant week menus McLoones had one of the best menus.. The Food was amazing! I'm going back good! the service was not good our server was slow and it wasnt even that busy. But the food totally over shadowed the service great time, good atmosphere
Food was great. There were two of us and we were seated at a high top by the bar.
It was my first visit. I passed the restaurant many times beside but decided to come by and try for a birthday dinner for a friend. Only disappointment was the wait time. We made a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes but once we sat down that was erased immediately. Service and food were both excellent! Will come again.
Our server Kenny was the greatest! Truly appreciated the kindness especially for the New Year. Gave us a great outlook on the year to come. His sister, the bartender, also makes an exceptional Grey Goose martini. Great job and thank you so much!
Waited 2 hours for entrees
I am only rating 4 stars because it was a very busy night (New Year's eve) and I do not feel our waitress was given any additional assistance to accomodate the crowd. She appeared to be the only one working and when we asked for the manager to come to our table so we could praise our waitress and to also suggest the other waitstaff assist our waitress, she kind of brushed us off. I will frequent the restaurant again, but not a a very busy night like New Year's eve, just to see if the waitstaff offer better service tending to tables.
The food was delicious and plentiful. Our server Kesia was very attentive and prompt. The atmosphere was festive with complimentary NYE hats and crown. We will definitely return here on our next visit. Great job McLoones!
Unbelievable meal on New Years. The value for the special prix fix meal was amazing. Way too much food, so of course we took home food for a second meal. The crab cake was one of the best I have tried. The location was great, will definitely go again.
The service and food were impeccable.
The food was good. The service was very slow however. The music was loud.
Beautiful view of water and harbor. Excellent service. Food is average, especially for the price. Unfortunately that’s true of most restaurants at National Harbor. We usually head over to old town but due to time constraints ate at harbor.
Wings were excellent. Crab leg appetizer were just okay. Very very small. Salmon was dry and overcooked. Stuffed shrimp were good. Crab bruschetta not great. It’s hit or miss with the food. They do have a good happy hour and nice bar. Go for that rather than dinner
This place was the absolute worst. We made reservations and still had over a 10 minute wait to be seated. We notified the manager of this while we were waiting and she was dismissive. Once seated, we were greeted by a server whom was less than enthusiastic to be serving us. After our server took our orders, we waited a long time for our food. We noticed other tables had complimentary rolls brought to their table. We alerted another server of this, she then brought us some rolls. My mother and I ordered Cocktails from the bar that were not to our satisfaction so we sent them back. We just asked for wine instead. Rather than trying to accommodate us, the manager, instead made us feel as though we were a heavy burden to her and her staff. She could care less about customer satisfaction. I even told her about the rolls not being given to us and she said that you have to request them. However, this was our first time dining there so there was no way that we would know that. The manager lacked attentiveness, courtesy, empathy, and patience. I have worked in the service industry for several years and I have never seen a staff that has less regard for guest/customer satisfaction and overall experience. I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS PLACE AGAIN!
BEWARE of dining during holiday time as you would get stuck with disgruntled workers! Specifically the black female manager with dreads was by a disgrace to that business. She should go through more training as well as her wait staff.
I took my family of 8 to McLoone's for brunch. The food was good however the tab ended up being almost $300 with no extras ordered outside the buffet. That is totally outrageous for the offerings on the buffet which offered nothing super expensive. Also their website quoted the price as $29.99 which is bad enough but when I got my bill, they had charged $35 plus 18% gratuity (for a buffet?). In addition our 2 year old was charged $16. I know things are expensive at Nation Harbor but we ate steak dinners the night before with appetizers at another restaurant for less than $200. I will never eat the Sunday brunch at McLoone's again. I now understand on the weekend before Christmas where all the hotels were filled to capacity, their tables were less than a third full.
Great food and great service!
We’ll definitely come again, thanks!!
The food was pretty good and they have a variety in their menu. When we ordered our appetizer it came out in less than 5 min which was questionable. Our entrees were fantastic and we did not leave hungry. The service was not that great it took our server approximately 10 min to initially get to us and it wasn’t that crowded. We requested a table with view because we were out for a special occasion and were given a table against a wall further away from the windows.
Very average. We had the jumbo lump crab bruschetta. There was a very small sprinkling of crab.
First time dining here. The on-line menu looked so good. It was difficult to choose one thing. Our friend said it was the best crab dip he’s ever had. The fireworks display was great and the view beautiful! Love the countdown clock to sundown! Hope to come back during warm weather to sit outside.
Birthday dgdd gd dddddddddddd
Very good meal. However very loud noise level was awfyl
Would not go again. We were seated 40 minutes after our reservation and one entree was never put in resulting in our 12 year old receiving his meal after everyone was done eating. Waitress did not know if kids meals were nut free and didn’t have any sense of urgency finding out when we were concerned about an allergy. No one seemed concerned that we experienced these issues.
We went for Thanksgiving buffet, and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. There was a nice variety, and the food was constantly being replenished. While it was buffet, we had a very polite and attentive server, in fact there was always someone around tending to all tables, clearing plates as necessary. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We were very glad we spent our Thanksgiving at McLoone’s Pier House.
Excellent service and food! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends.
The place was nice, very crowded at our table of 8, so we would probably like a bigger table next time. We had to shuffle around plates quite a bit to make room to eat our different courses. Waiter was very nice and efficient, just had to remind him a few times for the kid's drinks and kid menus. Food was amazing and we had enough to take some doggy bags home! We would be back for sure. Maybe not with the kids...the kids' food was not very good, the mac n cheese said it was Kraft on the menu, but it was not. It was large gluten free corn pasta and a cheese sauce that had no flavor. My kids didn't eat it and so when I tasted it, I understood why.
We requested a table with a view for our special evening, and were seated at a table as far away from the water as could be... and the table rocked! Appetizers, soup, and entree came out within 5 minutes of each other, making by the tiny table cramped and leaving us feeling rushed. Our waiter couldn’t have been better but the food running was out of control! Create some ambiance, please!
Excellent food. Nice presentation. Awesome location. Will definitely be returning!
I was at the West Orange NJ location and really enjoyed it. I must say this this location is quite different. When i 1st walked in, the rug smelled of a bad odor. If we weren't waiting for people to get there, we would have left. That bad. A few of our co-workers actually left and went to another restaurant nearby. The food was average at best. The water tasted funny. Iced tea didn't taste perfect was better. One person had the Caesar salad and he said it felt frozen. I had the avocado crab salad and it was good. The waiter was very quiet and monotone and didn't really seem like he wanted to be there. The only real good thing that i can say is that the manager was very nice and helpful. 1 of our people had a nut allergy and he made sure to make certain she didn't have a salad dressing with nuts. The manager was very nice but the smell from the rugs in the restaurant weren't.
