McLoone's Pier House Ratings and Reviews
The servers were polite and friendly. We ordered the California Roll it was tasty. Could of been rolled a little tighter but worth ordering. Our main dish was the Lobster Crusted Sea Bass The dish was delicious but one entry was cooked prefect and the other was under done. So we where unable to eat the meal at the same time. But the manager and servers was very apologetic I wished they gave us something off the bill for our inconvenience. But the meal was worth returning
As always Mcloones Pier House never disappoints. Food is always excellent and service is the best. We retired to Florida four years ago but always make Mcloones a priority stop when we are in town. The couple we were meeting this time were running late due to city traffic, the very nice hostess happily pushed our reservations back to accommodate our friends. The most amazing thing is a couple of bartenders remember us and always make it a point to greet us even if not the one serving us. This is the way a restaurant should be run but unfortunately many are not. Keep up the good work! 👏👏👏👏
All in all a decent seaside dining experience. My only grip was the overall attitude and demeanor of the girls at the hostess station. What a surly bunch. Smile Ladies! I entered with my usual jovial introduction and was met with stares and scowls. I asked for a window table (It was not busy, had a reservation, and tables were open) and was walked the entire length of the restaurant and parked in a corner. Felt like I was being punished. Went back and asked for the table we had walked past. They conceded. After that rough start things got better, but they put a damper on what could have been a much better experience.
Large restaurant, good vibe, ocean-front seating, live music, attentive service, all the things you want in a good restaurant except the prices are too high and the food isn't that great. Had phenomenal soft shell crabs but that was a special item and everyone else's meals were just average. Waitress recommended crab cakes but they were dry and bready. Not a whole lot of options for dining along the shore in Long Branch so I might go back but wish the food was better even if they have to charge the high prices.
We went for our anniversary because it seemed like a special place. The table and view were great but the food was overpriced and small portions. Nothing special at all. The waiter Jake was great but forgot to bring bread... wait time for food was long and the place was not busy as it was during the week. I would not spend the money to go back.
We were in the upstairs room which has a wonderful wall of windows facing the beach and ocean. It's a very pleasant room although verging on getting dated. Same decor as when we were there for our daughters wedding 7 years ago.
The back portion of the room was rented out to a very loud party, which disturbed our family occasion and ambiance.
Sunday brunch is always very good.
Great location at Pier Village.
The day was on the breezy cool side, so we opted for indoors and were shown to an oceanside window table next to a table of 8-10 people. The acoustics were not so good, so we requested a quieter table and were led up to the landing booths. A bit better noise-wise. I felt like I was in a diner. Service was "unprofessional," by which I mean the wait staff have no plans to make the hospitality business anything other than a "job in the meantime." I had to fetch our own utensils and napkins after we were served our food, because after requesting them, no one returned with them and promptly forgot about us. So, I just got up, found a set table, and grabbed them. HOWEVER, the food was excellent. Good portion sizes, perfectly prepared and presented. I thought the prices were reasonable, given the real estate location. I'd like to try dining outdoors next time.
