Everything was great but I thought the brunch was very pricy.
Decent brunch. Good Bloody Mary. Bar lively!
Though we had a large group of 8 people, we had the best waiter! He took such good care of us, I hope he is there the next time that we go.
The restaurant was beautiful, the staff perfectly trained. The food was alright, nothing was wrong it was just alright. For the price I expected better: larger portions, bolder flavors.
So the key tell for me, would we go back, it wouldn't be our first choice in the area.
Really nice Monday evening anniversary dinner. Attentive staff and beautiful fillet steak.
Very friendly staff!
Love the new menu rotation. The new chef is phenomenal as well!
Went to this restaurant with my wife on date night. While the food was good, we both felt that the food was not good enough for the prices they charged. We very much enjoyed our calamari appetizer, but other than that, the food did not particularly stand out. Bottom line, we probably would not go back.
Great place for dinner, we sat by the fireplace during the snowstorm. It was amazing ambiance with a view of the water. There was live music which was a pleasant surprise. The new menu was awesome!
I can't wait to go back.
Hostess seated our party at time of reservation, and a table a few tables away from the fireplace in the main dining room. The restaurant was active and had a fun atmosphere.
Drinks, wine, apps, dinner, dessert and coffee. The range of selections were sufficiently broad, the quality and presentation of the food was terrific, and everything was truly delicious. All in all, it was a great night of dining out with friends.
This was not our first time to McCloon’s and it certainly will not be our last.
Everything from the service, cleanliness and food quality are greatly improved at McLoon’s! The front desk and wait staff were friendly and pleasant. Our waitress staff was helpful in switching our table to a more intimate location. She was attentive to every request and checked on us regularly. Food was delicious - noticeably improved taste and presentation compared to prior visits.
Hostess did not wait for us to get down the steps in the lobby to show us to our table and never came back to look for us. We had to go back to the hostess stand to ask someone else to show us to our table. I ordered a chopped chicken cobb salad, but the dish came out without chicken in it. My wife ordered the Prime rib burger well done, but it came out rare.
We loved McLoone’s Boathouse! We went on a Monday night for their $19.95 burger special - your choice of burger, plus fries, plus a generous salad (their Caesar is fantastic!) and a house wine or beer for $19.95! Such a great deal! The house wines are actually delicious and the salted caramel cake for dessert was incredible! We’ll definitely be back!
The brunch has pretty much something for everyone. Especially loved the French toast with apples and the yummy petit fours and little cakes. Our server, Olivia, was very attentive, and made sure we had clean silverware and refills on drinks. This is a very baby and kid friendly place to have brunch or lunch. And given the lovely weather we were able to take a walk outside when we finished. Beautiful spot.
Lovely spot for a romantic date. The fire was cozy and th view was beautiful. Good food and wine and the service is excellent.
Had a lovely dinner with delicious food and attentive service to celebrate Valentine's Day before 2/14/18. Wanted to avoid the usual Valentine's Day rush. The grilled swordfish and seared tuna was fresh and tasty and the grilled asparagus was just right. We come to this restaurant often because we enjoy the atmosphere and the friendly service along with great food.
Request a table by the window at this waterside restaurant with a charming ambiance. The warm bread with spiced dipping oil was delicious; it was also accompanied by butter. My friend demolished a crab cake dish. My daughter's chicken fingers and fries were crispy gems. But my scallops were disappointing. The asparagus and mashed potatoes were mediocre. Next time, I'll stick to my favorites at this restaurant (fish tacos, salads, sandwiches, mushroom soup) and NOT order from the daily specials. Service was good with room for improvement. Our server forgot to bring the drink that was included with the kid's meal but it was quickly provided after I reminded her.
I asked my boyfriend to take me here for my birthday since I’d never been, but had passed by numerous times. The ambiance was perfect. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. All of the food was delicious - from the bread served with sundried tomato pesto to the desserts, chocolate lava cake and salted caramel cheesecake. We had the ahi tuna app and oysters, both extremely fresh and yummy. Then we both love seafood so he had the swordfish and I had the crab cakes. Both were delicious and portions were good. Would love to come back in the warmer weather to enjoy the deck!
Celebrating a birthday with family
We made a reservation for 4 people on a Sunday afternoon for our 50th wedding anniversary.. We did NOT want the brunch Buffet and we were told we could order off the menu. We were seated during the time of the Buffet at 3pm when the buffet ends at 3:15. Most of the people sitting near us were there for the buffet. The limited menu had very little and 2 of us found nothing we wanted . The manager was nice enough to try to help us and he did go out of his way to do that. I would suggest not to go to the Boathouse on Sunday afternoon during the brunch unless that s what you want. They need to address the many food sensitivities and allergies that are common now with their food staff and be able to make adjustments to accommodate patrons who know what they can and can not eat.
Great place to bring your signicfiant other , brought my fiancé here for her birthday and she loved it. Really good experience and great service.
I took a date out on Friday night to McLoone's for the second time. The best description for the overall experience was just alright. The food from the appetizers to the entries were exactly what was expected, nothing stood out either good or bad. The fish was slightly overcooked but not so bad as to be returned and the service was a little slow and inattentive for the size of the crowd but not so much that it was a serious problem.
Like I said it was just alright.
Wonderful place, great food and service. Food was very fresh; cooked and prepared at time of order. Highly recommended.
I am a vegetarian. There were very limited options
New year celebration
Excellent restaurant to go to before after a show at Papermill Playhoyse!!
A great, cozy location on a bitter cold winter day - fires blazing while enjoying the view of the icy lake.
Service was terrible. Table was not cleaned. They were out of several menu items. We never got our food. We walked out after 90 minutes of no service and no food. Terrible. Will never go back.
Nice water view and food is great. Special menu on major holidays and the three course meal on Christmas was very good.
We had a great time. The food was great and the service was a ++. They accommodated us Earlier than our scheduled reservations Christmas Eve. I give them two thumbs up .
Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. Christmas Eve dinner with friends was perfect.
We had a fabulous Christmas Eve dinner by the roaring fireplace. Wonderful!
This restaurant is a favorite for the ambiance and scenic views. Food was average but there was not one Vegan offering! On a previous visit they had burger options which were available as veggie or black bean options but on this Christmas Eve there was nothing... my son had to settle for onion rings and asparagus. How hard could it be to offer a fine veggie primavera pasta or a mushroom ravioli dish! It was very disappointing!
Excellent service, food, everything!
Beautiful location and delicious food. I had the swordfish which was phenomenal. Service was slow so the waiter gave us free drinks and a free dessert. Definitely worth a visit.
Wonderful food, great ambiance and attentive service
I always have a great meal at McLoone's Boat House and this time was no different. It was extra special since I was with a friend who had never been there. She was so pleased and will look for a McLoone's closer to her home.
Great atmosphere with scenic views; warm and cozy fireplaces add to the ambiance in the winter, pleasant outdoor dining during warmer months. Food is fresh and well prepared, service is usually great.
We have often diner at McCloon’s Long Branch, but had not tried the West Orange location prior to our December 12th outing. What a wonderful evening! Roaring fires were ablaze in several dining areas. The restaurant is beautiful, yet casual. We were promptly seated at a table that had a lovely waterfront view. Our server was so friendly and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Our food was brought to the table at a perfect pace-we were not rushed, nor did we have an opportunity to become too hungry. There was always someone at the ready to refill our drinks.
The food was delicious. Each of the members of our party was greatly satisfied with their choice. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our family plans to return during the holiday season. I’m so glad it’s close enough to our home to be frequented regularly. What a great find!
I did NOT enjoy my first and last experience here. It was my 30th birthday. There was 12 people in my party, everyone arrived by 830 and our orders were placed shortly after, however, we did not receive our food until 935. It is unacceptable that we had to wait that long, no one came and explained what was going on with our orders or offered us additional bread or water while we waited. We requested a manager who was very rude and not accommodating at all. Also, my food was packaged to go and I left it on the table to take pictures because it was my birthday. My food was thrown away, no member of staff bothered to confirm if someone had left their food accidentally before throwing it away. I will NEVER come back or recommend this place.
