Quiet night for dinner and drinks, enjoyed the pumpkin raviolis a lot!
It was the worst service we have ever received at McLoones.
The bathrooms need some updating and cleaning. We enjoyed the new menu. The food was very good.
FOOD WAS INDER OOKED AND COLD.
I have been to McCloone’s many times. It was my aunts 70th birthday. They sat us in the back of the room by the fireplace at two rectangular tables that weren’t even the same height and no one could converse. The noise was unbearable, the service was horrible, and the food wasn’t good either. When they sat us down they brought 4 menus for six people! When we asked for more menus they said they didn’t have any. Then we ordered appetizers and they wound up coming out with the meal. I had no cutlery, and my salad was soggy and my shrimp were undercooked. The drinks took forever to get and no dessert was offered. Not a good experience. I will not be returning.
on sunday they have a brunch and they assume you are there for it. had to ask for menus.
I would normally give McLoone's 5 stars, but the service was slow. I completely understand why, but there should have been more effort in making our experience better.
We went for Sunday brunch. My recommendation is not to make your reservation too early. They open at 10:30 and our reservation was 11:00am. We were seating promptly however the brunch buffet was not fully set up when we began eating. Next time I would make my reservation for noon. The food was very good with a few exceptions...bagels were stale and the clams were basically empty. Perhaps clams are not in season. Our waitress was very attentive and cleared plates quickly between our trips to the buffet. Also there was a problem with our bill. They charged us for 4 adults when we clearly were 2 adults and 2 children. Again our waitress took care of the problem quickly.
I usually love this place which was why I came back. I was disapointed this time. While the place is beautiful and the staff are great, the food was below its usual standards. Appetizers no flavor. The drink menu is their summer menu so you can’t get some of the items on it. Their dinner menu limited and it was lacking. Items out of stock and flavor was just not there. I actually got sick on my meal.
Great ambience however the food and service were ok. Appetizers were delicious. Food presentation definitely needs improvement.
Got there on time and heard the hostess say she gave our table away. Brought to a room with cafeteria style seating and sat at a greasy table wish our shoes sticking to the floor. After 5 minutes of eye contact aversion we got up and walked to the bar to get a drink and figure out a more appropriate place to spend our anniversary.
The bartender was very nice though as we did enjoy our drinks in the bar. Overall I would liken it to a poorly managed Red lobster. A pity to waste a great location.
Very disappointed. They didn’t have enough cups for us to have drinks. Service was poor. And food was not good. And they charged full price for the kids
Though we had a reservation, we needed to wait. After being seated, we didn't receive our drinks for almost 20 min. My son didn't get his drink until we asked. Appetizers also were quite a while to come out.
The food was good. Though at that price point I shouldn't have to clean the shrimp (within the risotto) with my hands. I get the presentation but when presentation gets in the way of the experience and the eating, change the presentation. I would highly recommend changing that. This isn't like a shrimp boil where the expectation is to eat with our hands.
I’ve dine at McLoone’s Boathouse several times over the years. It’s always been a wonderful experience and the ambience is beyond my human expectations. The service is exceptionally good and the music in the background is most embracing. Fred
Anniversary. For the amount of our bill the service and food did not match.
Great experience, nice view , i would recommend this place
The service, the food and ambiance was amazing! We really enjoyed my birthday experience and will continue to go back!
Appetizers were very good. Dinner not so much. Bland taste and not described well. No sides included six dollars xtra for a scoop of spinach. Disappointing.
The music was so loud it was distracting while having a conversation.
This was a family event. Outstanding!!!
The setting is great, overlooking a lake and has an all americana decor. However the food and service was sub par.
The plates where over seasoned and portions very ala american. The drinks to sweet and the service though friendly, very fractured. The appetizer came half way through the main course.
Great restaurant, the servers were knowledgeable on the menu options and ambiance was delightful.
We were seated on the terrace outside, but we had a great time with a view of the reservoir, trees, quiet and good location, and a wide variety of meals.
Went to McLoone's for brunch...waitress didn't let us know all that was available, like an omelette station. Selection for breakfast was scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, french toast/syrup, bagels/cream cheese, fruit....no croissants, toast options...lots of little desserts...chicken, fish, vegetables, salad....mimosas not included...for what we paid, I could have had the same breakfast (with more options) at the local diner
Extremely disappointed - dinner reservations were for 6:30 - arrived approx 6:20 and were told that the table would have to be cleaned for us - there were a number of open tables available and we should not have had to wait for "our table" to be cleaned - once we were seated, we saw that our table had not been fully cleaned, in fact there were the remnants of a shrimp visible on the tabletop - when our server came over she saw the food on the table and said "Are you kidding me?, sorry about that. this should have been cleaned and checked." Two other servers also saw that our table was still dirty. Once the table was cleaned, our server took our orders and brought us two wine glasses BUT NEVER BROUGHT THE WINE! We were sitting for nearly twenty minutes staring at two empty wine glasses.
The noise level was intolerable. We could not hear ourselves talk to each other. The overhead music was too loud. And finally, there was a screaming baby a few tables away. We were totally fed up with the experience and left. We hadn't been to McCloone's since the pandemic began, so we were really looking forward to the chance to dine there again. Unfortunately, the evening was a complete and unprofessional disaster and it is very likely that we will never return to McCloone's again.
I live very close to this restaurant and it is a good go to if you need somewhere to go last minute. Nothing mind blowing, but the food was good. I had the short rib grilled cheese and we had these fried buffalo chicken balls with bleu cheese dip and a brownie for dessert. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well (fish tacos and a salad). The staff was friendly, but a little slow in regards to service. The inside of the restaurant wasn't super clean, but I'm just nit picking. We would have loved to sit outdoors, but it was over an hour wait.
I would definitely come back, but nothing mind blowing.
Awesome. Ate outside overlooking the water.
An old favorite, but must say the quality of the food has diminished. The service was very good, and the staff attentive. We had to wait a longer period of time to order, but that was due to the lack of staff and not the server, who was lovely.
We loved the appetizer, Tuna Nachos, but the main course was over cooked, and tasteless as well as expensive. I do not think I will come back for dinner, but most likely cocktails and appetizers.
One of the most scenic places in NJ. Food is awesome, service is excellent given the shortage in staff due to Pandemic yet 5 star service. Extravagant selection of seafood for pescatarians and great selection for vegetarians too. But the view takes the crown! Splendid and Extraordinaire!
Always so nice at McLoone's and the food is great. We like that we could sit outside and the weather was perfect. Our waiter was very nice and friendly, even took our picture.
We had a reservation for 245 on a Sunday. We had hoped for outdoor seating but were advised prior to making reservation that it was first come first serve. We heard there was a one hour wait for outside. We still asked to wait as the hostess offered that reservations take priority. No more than ten minutes later, we were seated outside on the porch!
Brunch goes until 3. Waiter was kind enough to allow some of our party to take advantage of the brunch while others were offered dinner menu. The buffet was well stocked and basic Sunday brunch fare. Would have liked a little gluten free option for the dessert. The entrees from the dinner menu were delicious and well portioned.
Definitely will be coming back.
I had high expectations for this restaurant since it looked cute from the outside . Inside was different. We had a 1:15 reservation and still waited 45 minutes to sit outside. The views were very pretty ! Our waiter was polite and kind and the food was good, but nothing to write home about. To make it worse , the bathrooms were not clean and there was food all over the floor from the breakfast buffet
This was the third and last time I visit this restaurant. I don’t know what happened since my last visit in 2020 but every single thing was terrible. The wait for a menu, water, bread and to order was extraordinarily long. Once we ordered, the hits started coming. The $60 white wine bottle was room temperature. The clam chowder was cold. The appetizer dishes were all piled on the table when the entrees finally arrived. The crab cakes were dry and lukewarm. The steak was tough. After finishing, the dishes were not cleared even when two separate waitstaff came to offer us dessert. I can’t blame the bad service on a paucity of staff as there were many busboys and waiters milling about. I have no issues paying more for an excellent meal but the bill infuriated me since the experience was utterly unsatisfying. I actually witnessed the table in front of me (by the bathroom) with two young women leave since they were ignored. Your restaurant lost their business and the potential for more of mine. If the service was top notch, we would have had another bottle of wine, desserts and coffee. But who wants to spend hours waiting to be noticed? I sincerely hope you improve to keep others happy.
Atmosphere was great, food was good and the service was bad!
I know it is hard to hire people these days but our waitress and busboy were just bad at their job
We were celebrating my mom's 83rd birthday. Having dined (pre-covid) here in the past, I thought the experience would be the same or better. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Although I had a reservation, I had to see the manager (who was dismissive in her approach blamed it all on spill over from lunch-we arrived at 5:00pm)- seats not prepared, no cutlery on the table, tried seating 6 guests (all adults) at a table meant for 4 guests.
No one came to take orders until almost 25 minutes of us sitting. The food took over an hour and then it was either cold, or over cooked. Although, I had spoken to the manager, she NEVER approached the table to ask if everything was OK.
Saving grace was the hostess, who kept apologizing for the delay and also checking in as she passed by.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! One couple who came in after us, actually got up and left after waiting as we did to be served.
I had a 1 pm reservation for two. I arrived at 12:55; the concierge did not get a seat. The concierge person told me it would be an additional 30 minutes wait. My friend and I stayed for two hours. Unfortunately, we did not get a seat. We ended up eating at the bar.
I have been to that location before not sure if they changed the cooks/chef but the food was horrible. The waiter can over 10 mins after we first sat down and didn’t ask for our drink order and just asked if we want starters. We ordered the wings and clam chowder soup since they were amazing last time. When they brought us the food they forgot my spoon took 15 mins to get one, soup got cold and we had to ask for bread for the table as well as if we can place drink orders. We got two burgers medium well with bacon and jalapeños. They brought out the burgers well done, with no beacon or jalapeños. And the fries were burned. We literally pushed the burgers to the side and waited 20 mins for the waiter. The manager saw our faces and the food pushed to the side and came over to ask if everything was ok. I calmly told him what happened as I asked him to give me the check so I can pay for what we ate. I paid for the soup and wings and asked him to remove the burgers and beer which I showed him was flatter then plywood. He was super nice, apologetic and removed the burgers and I paid for what we ate. We then got up, walked out and I took my date to McDonald’s as she requested. All in all, don’t think I am going back.
Always enjoy ourselves when we go here. This time we sat outside on a perfect day on a sunday afternoon. Our server was a young friendly young lady who was just great
We were able to take our time, sat for several hours talking, eating and drinking. We were never rushed and always looked in on. All our dishes were very good
Prices in the end were a bit high, but still an outstanding place
Overall, good food, nice area by the lake, but not somewhere I would visit again. We went for Sunday brunch, the service is not up to par with their pricing. Staff took a long time to get us drinks, no one seemed motivated to work, they weren't able to put a table for 7 together outside, despite seeing a similar group seated together outside. Although the brunch food was tasty, don't think it's worth the $35, only coffee and soft drinks included. Inquired about mimosa pitcher from different servers, no one had a direct answer. Overall, not worth the bill.
Everything was awesome .
