sign on the door saying it was in receivership????
The restaurant was “closed for renovations” when we arrived for our meal. We ended up at Woodwork next door. The staff there told us that McLeod Tavern is permanently closed!
By the way, we had an awesome meal at Woodwork!
Well, I can’t really review this place. I made reservations on OpenTable, only to arrive and find the establishment closed for renovations. McLeod Tavern management, next time be sure to close down your reservation portal
This restaurant has been closed for few weeks it seems. It was embarrassing to take my client upto the restaurant and find it closed. Opentable should not have confirmed this appointment. I hope you can keep your information up to date about the restaurants. Thank you.
My review is for Open Table and not McLeod restaurant.
I had a reservation for 6 people to eat at this restaurant and when I arrived, the restaurant was closed for renovations much to my surprise. I had to scramble to find a suitable restaurant for 6 people at the last minute near the Theatre. Furthermore, when I tried using OpenTable to make a new reservation, I couldn't unless I cancelled the previous reservation. The only way to do that was to call a restaurant that was CLOSED!
There needed to be better communication between the restaurant and OpenTable and reservations should not have been made in the first place.
Booked McLeod Tavern to have dinner before the Theatre. Showed up at the reservation time only to see signs on the door that they are closed for renovations. After going to several other nearby restaurants that had no openings we were able to get a table at Craft were we had a nice dinner. Thank you Craft. Will never book Mcleod Tavern again.
Went to Mcleod Tavern before we went to Citadel theatre. Very close, good food, our server was great. Thanks
Food was really good
Caesar wasn’t too great
Overall good experience
Service was very average. Servers barely came by to ask how the meal was. Prob won’t go back.
Everything is good except some tables by the wall, are pretty high to get on. You should also introduce lunch specials on Fridays as well.
It took 30 min to get our drinks half of our drinks. The others were drinking red and the waitress came back with a wine list with the majority of the wines crossed off with a sharpe marker and asked us to pick from this list "the real list of the wine they actually have"
It took an hour to get our food, and when it came it all came at once. Appetizers, salads and mains all at once.
I asked for the mains to be send back and remade fresh in 20 min when we were done our appetizers and salads but was told "when the food is out, the food is out" by the manager who didn't seem to care at all about the service of his restaurant.
So all of our food got cold as we ate our appetizers, while other waited and kept asking for cutlery.
DONT eat at this restaurant. We had a very pleasant meal at State and Main the night before. They were very busy and despite the slow service the manager there bought all of our drinks for us!
Noisy, food ok but not great. Sliders, meat over cooked. Poutine very salty.
Great cocktails
We had made the reservation for a big group and yet they were not prepared, they only had one server for us and she couldn't handle it all on own. We waited 1.5 hours just for or wine ! Everyone was super upset and disappointed as we got there 1130 and didn't get food until130-145 and some meals were wrong we just didn't say anything as we had to be back at conference and now we're going to be late. We didn't think needed 2.5 hours for lunch. Disappointing and won't be eothing there again or recommending it. It's to bad
Everything was great but they were out a couple beer selections and coffee.
I expected more of the ambiance. It lacked greatly as the high ceiling and lack of design looked like a styled-up Costco Warehouse. Ordered BBQ Chicken Flatbread. Tasty, but not spectacular. M&M's flatbread is comparable. Ordered Steak & two eggs. The first go, my medium rare steak was well done. The second go, my medium rare steak was rare. From one extreme to the other. Not even the salad had much for creativity. The eggs they did right, but all I asked for was sunny-side up. McLeod Tavern is not for me or anyone else if I'm asked about it. We did get the mini donut fondue. It was good, but by that time I was done with McLeod.
My sister, friend and I made reservations at McLeod Tavern to have dinner and drinks before the Matchbox 20 concert at Rogers Place. Upon on entering we were greeted by the hostess who brought us to our table, we waited 8-10 minutes before a waitress ecame to our table to take our drink order. We order 3 Sangarias, they weren't horrible, but for 10 dollars a drink you'd expect fresh ingredients versus a brownish lemon for garnish. We continued to order, with hopes of this experience taking a positive turn. We ordered two appetizers, the perogies and nachos. The perogies weren't bad, but the nachos were horrible! The chips tasted like they had been cooked the previous the day, the cheese on the nachos was dry and tasteless. The sour cream they had given for dipping was a different colour on the top layer than it was in the middle, indicating perhaps it had been left out for too long. At this point, we hadn't eaten the nachos, and called a manager over to discuss our experience. We communicated with the manager that we weren't happy with the quality of the food, he then moved forward on the notion that we "didn't like the food"; to be honest, I've received better food and service at Smittys. The manager was condescending and assumed no accountability. I hope this experience is rectified, and moreover improvements are made for future patrons.
Lunch meeting, quick efficient service, comfortable atmosphere to talk, delicious meal. I will return.
Servus was unfortunately really bad, food was pretty decent, music was too loud for 6:00 at night
I normally quite like it here. However, the Rocket salad was limp and not very good. The noise volume was rather high which is not normal. The wait staff was great as always though. I hope the food is better next time.
Service was good. I had some specific dietary needs which they were able to meet and food came to table exactly as ordered.
We did not stay long as we were wanting to watch the Oilers Game. There are not a ton of good TV views, especially in the back of the restaurant where we were seated.
Flavius is always amazing - you are lucky to have him.
Nothing fantastic. I had the chicken chow mien. I am sure the sauce came from a bottle.
Showed up for our reservation and the restaurant was closed. Called the next day to speak to the manager and was told that he'd have to call me back. Left my name and number and never got a call back. Won't be giving it any more of my time.
The food was great! The service on the other hand, horrible. We were ignored because we didn't order drinks. The bus boy who brought us our food had to bring us plates and the host had to refill our water. Waitress didn't come back until we commented that we hadn't seen her in a while. Not asking for much, but some cutlery, napkins and maybe plates (we had nachos) would have been great.
We were pleasantly surprised to find out Thursday is 50% off menu and there's also a drink special which was awesome. I had the burger and it was pretty good
Good food, slow service.
Had an awesome meal at McLeod Tavern. Wait staff was excellent! The food was unique and delicious! We started with the baked goat cheese. I have dreamt of that goat cheese ever since! I think it is now my favourite food and will definitely be back to try it again.
Coming in at 11:30 there wasn't many people there. It was however quite cold in the restaurant and even after they turned the heat on it took 15 minutes to warm up. But as soon as the door opens - cold again. Had the steak special, really filling for the price - seasoning on the steak was lacking so not sure I would have it again. The server was really nice and checked in on us and was attentive - although if we were all cold I can't imagine how she felt as her outfit didn't have any sleeves.
Great Rocket Salad and great service (friendly) - good place for a business lunch as you can actually hear one another and it's not too busy!
For a weekday lunch downtown we expected the service and the food to be quicker. The restaurant wasn't full but it took over 35 minutes to get our food. We wanted to flag down our server but she avoided us until we got our food. My steak was nothing but fat and over done. Couldn't tell her that because she avoided us. I loved Hundred and thought we would try Mcleod Tavern. Not going back.
We enjoyed our experience at Mcleod Tavern. We were warmly greeted and our server was great. The food was good, and service as well.
The service was really slow for the number of staff you saw walking around versus customers.... things took too long.... and it was loud in there....
Everything was very good. Was a little nervous at first, as I sort of got the run around to get a table that I was happy with.
We booked a table here based on the menu posted on OpenTable. When we arrived, and were seated, we were surprised at the sports bar atmosphere, having expected a moderate dining experience. And then the menu wasn't the same as the one we'd seen on Open Table. It was seriously "dumbed down". My companion couldn't find anything on the menu that appealed to him. After asking some questions it turned out that the restaurant had changed format a while back, and nobody had bothered to update the menu on OpenTable. We had a drink and then went elsewhere to eat.
We made a reservation as it was a Friday night and there were 6 of us. Our server seemed bored/distracted/uninterested - we are all over 50, so perhaps not the age group they are hoping for. Food was very dull - considering there are several other established good food spots, I would have thought they would have tried to have better than average food. We got several drinks each, and ordered 6 appetizers and actually some of the food went back as it was not very tasty.
Won't be back which is a shame as the location is very cool and close to work.
I can sum this place up in two words: 'meh' and 'noisy'
There were 5 of us and we ordered 4 different meals and no one enjoyed the food!!! Service was great but the product just not there! Will have drinks in future but not food!
Service great food average. Rocket salad had too much dressing and chicken was slightly overdone but was tasty. Steak sandwich was pretty good.
Service, food and atmosphere were just okay. We were able to get in and out quickly we were going to the citadel. Menu is ok. Nothing unique or really interesting. food quality was pretty good, my vegetables were very undercooked and I like them crisp. Salmon was nicely cooked. Butter chicken was tasty.
Out for drinks with a friend, great service that kept ahead of our needs. Attentive without being intrusive. Will return!
