The food was good, even though the menu is very eclectic. I’m not sure what they want to be, but in fairness everything was very good. One side of the restaurant has a very large bar area / dining area with tvs and lots of seating, and another side is a dining area, but drably decorated. Asking to sit in the (empty) sports TV area with a group of 4 guys instead of the old wood-paneled room must have really hit a nerve that night. It was somewhat made right, but there seems to be a lot of drama here with the staff. This place is like two totally different restaurants so make sure to be specific if making a reservation.
We had a great time as always at McKenzie’s. Our server was very attentive and helpful.
Food was good but server was slow and mostly absent. It was not busy but we had to go find someone to get more water. She didn't know answers to menu questions and never asked if we needed anything else. If she was new, needed better training.
I went with my son for dinner on a Saturday night. The server didn’t stop by our table for more than 10 minutes after we were seated to tell us she would be right back, and then it was another 10+ minutes before she returned. She forgot our water and we had to flag down another server for help with the water, with getting our check, etc. The food was good, but the service and management of service was terrible. There are restaurants with similar food in the area and much better service - I won’t return unless there are no other options.
Nice atmosphere. Good variety of options, but many had spicy components.
Could have used a bit more attention. Waitresses mqybe stretched a bit thin.
Loved being able to reserve on open table, and had no wait time.
Our choices were very satisfying.
It showed milkshakes on the menu…..just what I was looking for!
Thank you for that awesome review Joan!
We tried the new menu items and they are delicious. Mckenzie brew house is one of our favorite places to eat.
Thanks for the amazing feedback Rebecca!
Service was VERY slow- restaurant was not crowded when we arrived. Food was mediocre. None of us would order again what we had if we ever went back. Side order was missing. We told them and they went to get it and never returned.
Drink order was wrong and slow.
We used to be regulars. Hadn't gone in a while because of earlier bad experiences. Decided to try again....Mistake!!
Great food and atmosphere. A bit slow on the service however.
Hi Robert, Thank you for feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced during your visit.
This was our first time eating at McKenzies. Everything tonight was fantastic!!! Our waiter, Andrew, gave us great suggestions and was very attentive. We will definitely be back!
Thanks for the amazing feedback!
We ate in the outdoor seating area. It was a cloudy, slightly chilly day, so they had plastic panels lowered in case of wind or rain and there were heaters that could be turned on if we wanted them. (We didn't. It was warm enough without them.)
The food was good. The kitchen was happy to substitute avocado for the meat in my eggs benedict, which comes with potatoes and a small bowl of fruit.
The server was attentive, but not hovering, which was good. I would have been much happier if he and the other staff of the restaurant in side had worn masks.
The service was excellent and all ten people enjoyed their food.
Would definitely dine here again with confidence.
Thank you for making a special occasion a wonderful experience.
Love there is a large portion of the outside deck that’s got clear sides they drop down. It was a sunny but cool day and we were seated at a nice table with plenty of distance between others. We had a great lunch, pleasant and attentive server and good portions and prices. Just happy to know there’s a place to eat outside as the weather is changing. Highly recommend for lot of reasons!
We couldn’t see our table because the lightbulbs were burnt out. It was unacceptably dark. We also waited quite some time for our food. At least it tasted good! The waitress was also lovely.
Great service, terrific staff, and delicious food.
As with our recent visit, the noise level is low do that one can hear well and speak without shouting. Service was good. I had the Friday Blue Plate Special, Fish and Chips. The fish was nicely seasoned though it was slightly soggy; much crisper would have been better. Arrive early if you want the fish though; booths on other side ordered the same only to be told they had run out. My wife ordered Buddha Bowl that was just ok, noodles were in tangy broth with some veggies and a portobello mushroom. Had to specifically request a spoon to taste the broth and she brought a teaspoon.
Lots of choices. MBH is a good go to neighborhood restaurant.
It is not a place that I want to quickly return to. We had with reservation asked for a quiet setting. When we arrive they were going seat us in the middle log large noisy group. Once we complained they found a quietly area.
Our waitress was very attentive but it took a long time for the food to be ready.
David did a great job serving us. He always does which is why we go back every Sunday. Very good value for the price we pay!,
Thank you for the great review!
All around excellent!
Andrew was an awesome server!
David was an excellent server. He gave us enough time to catch up with friends without feeling rushed, but food was served promptly and with a smile. Everything we ordered was fresh and very tasty!!! Thank you!
Three former work friends met for an early mid-week dinner. We sat outside- the Malvern Mackenzie’s has a lovely outdoor seating area. Our waitress was fine, food came quickly, nice and hot and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Mackenzie’s is my “go to” for a quick, uncomplicated meal. Their menu is now pretty limited, but I’m sure Covid has caused them to scale back. Hope they survive!
Great salad options for non meat eaters.
Quick and attentive service..Scan and pay check with phone
They made it into a wonderful experience. Everyone was so nice the waitress was wonderful and very accommodating. We had a great time and plan to go again and again.
Good microbrews. Diverse menu. Quality service.
Sat outside on the patio, it was a nice setting to eat. Service was wonderful. She was attentive but also left us alone to talk. Food was very good. Definitely will be back.
Great place to eat and relax!
Food tasted great but everything came out cold. It took almost 45 mins for the food to arrive after ordering.
Mckenzies is a great restaurant. We eat there twice a week and are never disappointed. The wait staff is excellent and very attentive to our needs.
Service was great as was the food. We will return.
I had reserved a table "outside" - the hostess wanted to be sure we really wanted outside - we said "yes". She was gracious enough to take us outside, then when we said "too hot", she nicely brought us back inside. She was absolutely right - too hot outside.....and we had a wonderful lunch inside.
It took close to one hour for the food to come out. The salad was not brought out as an appetizer. The waiter was good. The food was terrible.
Waited 45 minutes before the appetizers even came out. Then finally the dinners came out only 3 of 4. It took another 10 min for the last dinner to come out. First and last time going here, it was awful, food and service!
Our waitress was outstanding. I don’t recall her name.
Had a really great meal with friends. We had requested outdoor seating with the reservation, but with the extreme humidity and chance of storms, we asked for indoor instead when we arrived and they were very accommodating. We sat for awhile and the server was very attentive and understanding and checked in with us frequently. Nachos were really good and the junior burgers were just the right size for all of us. The sweet potato fries were a little overcooked, but still not bad. We will be back!
Food was amazing as always. Our server was unkempt, Inexperienced, inattentive, not well trained and no hustle. It was pretty clear he did not want to be there. The restaurant was not crowded so being busy was not an excuse. The people who delivered our food did so with professionalism and a smile. When our server brought an incorrect appetizer item which we specifically ordered for a vegan diner and it came with chicken vs cauliflower, he told us we were mistaken. We asked to remake the proper way. It arrived well after our meals had arrived. No apology. We love McKenzies and will continue to dine there, but our experience last night was disappointing.
Our server was Amanda and she was so nice and very attentive. We got to sit outside despite the rainstorm because McKenzie’s has one of the best outside areas for dining.
Salmon asparagus salad was excellent -
Husband liked Cobb salad too-
Changed their onion rings / not as good as they used to serve ..
Waitress was great
In house brewery with seasonal selections. Odd mix of food from Buddha bowls to salads to burgers. Air conditioning was either not working or too weak so it was uncomfortably hot
The kitchen appeared to be understaffed. The roll on my Brats sandwich had to be sitting for awhile as the hard roll was soggy and fell apart. The BBQ sauce was either on to long or to much. The lettecue wraps were prepapered, and again fell apart from the saucr. It was either sat to long or to much. The Beer and the burger, the wings and the calamari were good.
Our party of 4 enjoyed our first visit to McKenzie Brew House this past Saturday night. The food was very good, and they cooked our steak and salmon just as we asked. They give you plenty of food as they don't seem to "skimp" on food and value like more and more restaurants are doing these days. They don't overload and give you enough to take home for a second meal either. They have a nice mix of food types/cooking styles. The drink were done well with a great selection too. We sat inside but took a peak at the outside spacious patio which was nice. There were have a private party downstairs, as this place is very spacious. We'll be back!
