McKendrick's Steakhouse - Perimeter Center Ratings and Reviews
So not impressed! We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We eat at a lot of great steakhouses so we thought we'd try this one since we haven't been here in a couple of years. So disappointed. To begin with, the shrimp cocktail and crab app was fine. All of our steaks came out barely warm and flavorless and had to be sent back. My husband's NY Strip was pretty good, but the filets were flavorless. The waiter assured us that he would heat the filets up but not cook them anymore than what they were already cooked. Great! Not! He brought them back and they were still terrible. I could've gotten a better filet at Outback for a fraction of the cost. The waiter recommended the brussel sprouts that tasted like bacon fat and the asparagus that we ordered tasted like nothing more than steamed asparagus that you would make at home....bland and no seasoning. We literally spent $500 and had one of the most unsatisfying meals. I will never go back. Also, for a steak house where you spend $500 you would think people would dress a little nicer than a t-shirt and jeans.
We love McKendrick's! Went for Valentine's Day and had a wonderful meal. I splurged and has steak and lobster tail. Fantastic meal. We love the fact that the throw their steaks on a 1700 degree broiler for a few seconds on each side to sear in the juices/flavor before cooking it on regular broiler. Makes for a much better steak.
I was expecting $$$ but was pleasantly surprised for the lunch menu. The service are top notch and my salmon was done absolutely perfectly. The salmon was hot and so slightly crisp and Asian salad was cool but not as if it have been stored in a refrigerator. This would be awesome for a date but now I know it's also a great place to meet a friend for lunch.
We were seated exactly at our reservation time, the hostess was very friendly but then it took at least 20 minutes before we ever had a server come take our drink order. I wanted to go ahead an order an appetizer for the table and told the server to put the appetizer on my tab - she asked if we wanted separate checks like it was the worst thing we could have ever requested. The service was terrible the entire evening. The food was delicious. My only disappointment in the food was the seafood tower - for $25 a person I would have expected more than 1 shrimp and 1 oyster per person; I understand only 1 piece of lobster per person. I have had the tower here as well as other places before and this seems to be the worst value for the price I have seen. I am sure we will return at some point but will not order the seafood tower and hope the service is what you would expect for this type of dinner.
We had a great server—Evan and a pleasant meal in a side room away from most of the hustle and bustle. Our main reason for choosing McK’s is that they have oysters—2 east coast and 1 west coast—delish! We also had salads—caesar and heirloom tomato with burrata and balsamic—and stone crab and a lobster tempura—all great. We ended with a splurge for dessert of creme brûlée and coconut cream pie. Fat and happy!
My husband and I dined here on a recent Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Marcus was our server and was very professional and proficient at service. He was available when needed but did not rush us. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, the apps were delicious ( crab cake and shrimp cocktail). The whipped garlic potatoes were the best I have ever eaten and the mushrooms were good as well. The only miss was the salad. Baby ice berg salad with bacon. It was very pedestrian and unimaginative. Also, I would love it if the restaurant were a little quieter to go along with the elegant atmosphere, however, it may not be possible. (Hint: turn down the music in the bar area--it jars with the atmosphere the restaurant is trying to create in the dining room. ). All in all, a lovely dinner.
Our server was a really nice guy but we were checked on too many times, if that makes sense. At the end of the meal I asked for a cup of decaf coffee to have while my family finished their glasses of wine. They were done with their wine before I even received my coffee, which tasted pretty bad. I'm really glad we came early because by the time we were ready for dessert the noise level made it impossible to carry on a conversation. That said, the steaks and sides were delicious.
I always enjoy my dining experience with McKendrick's. This time, Amber, my Server, went out of her way to make certain my entree was just right. I am vegetarian, and so getting it right, especially the first time matters.
Thanks Amber, Carmillo (The Valet Attendant), and all staff members!
I didn't realize until I looked it up after that this is not a chain. That explains the unique personality of the food, staff, and ambience. The place has character. Absolutely excellent food. Steaks are top quality and other dishes are of the freshest ingredients. Brussel sprouts side dish was fantastic with fresh brussel sprouts sauteed. Salad of ripe beefeater tomatoes and a unique Italian cheese (more interesting and nuanced than mozzarella). Excellent soup of the day. House made desserts (we had coconut cream pie and a house made sorbet). Service was superior and really enjoyed our waiter. Ambience was similar to other landmark steakhouses in other cities I've visited.
The service was impeccable. We ordered the special which was a 28 oz. ribeye which we split. It was not the best steak we have ever had at McKendricks. There was too much fat and it was not the melt in your mouth tender that I expected. The complimentary dessert was excellent and really appreciated.
