Fine dining, we were seated right away. Everything was very good, I had the tuna and my husband had the salmon - both excellent dishes. We had the turtle pie for dessert, the coffee ice cream flavor was a little over powering for me, but my husband loved it. The staff was great, keeping mindful of our water (and wine) glasses. It is definitely a place we'll visit again.
The service was stellar, the food was very good, it was too loud to hear what the person across from me was saying and we were at a 4-top, I can't imagine how isolated the conversation would have been in a table any larger. Definitely the men's business dinner scene.
Food was very good. My only complaint was that when the server told me about the surf & turf special, she didn't mention that it had a bernaise sauce on it (I hate bernaise!). So when it came I scraped off as much as I could and just ate it. I wish they had other steak sauce options other than A1.
For the price, CHOPS LOBSTER BAR , is much better. My Prime Rib was not medium rare and was just okay (Stoney River is better and less expensive). My date loved her Salmon and I agree that was cooked and tasted very good (But this is a Steakhouse.). The bread before dinner is plain, the butter hard. Crab cakes were 2 small ones and pretty good. Shrimp cocktail stingy on pieces (3), fried crispy oysters very small. Desserts of Key lime pie and Bannana bread pudding were pretty good.
Our server was over attentive leaning over the wall watching while waiting for something to do. Was seriously contemplating asking the management if he could move so that we didn't feel like he was watching us eat.
My date and I enjoy trying different Steakhouses in the area and so far Chops is tops from the bread, to the crab cake , sides and entree for the same cost.

Loved the scallops. The center cut steak was just OK. Our server recommended the asparagus as a side, and it was plain, I don't even think there was any seasoning or butter so not sure why that was recommended. I would recommend it, but there are better steakhouses in Atlanta.
Upon arriving at our first visit to McKendrick’s we knew we were in for a treat. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, the manager who went out of his way to acknowledge us, and our very professional, knowledgeable server, Mark.
The ambiance was perfect for a special occasion, a date or a business dinner. My husband and I had traveled from Baton Rouge to Stone Mountain for his Highland Games Competition and post-competition he was hungry for a good steak. “Good” doesn’t even begin to describe what we were presented with. He chose the long bone-in Ribeye and I had the Veal Chop. I will normally order mine rare knowing that it almost always comes to the table at least a little over cooked. Mark assured me that the chef would prepare it to a perfect medium-rare and that I needent worry. Both entrees were cooked to a perfect temperature, beautifully seared to a light to medium char and seasoned to perfection. We both commented that it was one of the best (if not THE best) steaks we could ever remember having. We paired them the augratin potatoes that could stand on their own as a meal and a wonderful bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
We were perfectly content at this point, but there was more to come. We finished the night’s meal off with a slice of their amazing Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, a double espresso for me and regular coffee for my husband. I’ve had the pleasure of tasting a number of Kentucky Derby Pies in my 47 years and this one was absolute perfection. If I had not been so near a food coma and thinking more clearly, I would have ordered another slice to have the following day before we left to come back to South Louisiana.
I can’t say enough about the food, the management or the servers and staff of McKendrick’s Steakhouse. We will most definitely be back if we get anywhere within 100 miles.
It was a business Saturday evening and even though I made reservations, I was certain that I would have a long wait.
The hostess and wait staff was extremely accommodating. We sat down in a timely fashion and once we placed the order the appetizers arrived shortly after. The wait staff was friendly and considerate of our time constraints. The entree was excellent. I will be dining there again.
The service was impeccable, and the food outstanding. I had the Oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer, honestly the best I have ever had anywhere. Often the other ingredients overwhelm the oysters, but these were perfect. My wife has an allergy and they made a fried oysters appetizer especially taking into account her needs, and they were great as well. The cocktails and wine were wonderful. We both had the filet mignon. It was melt in your mouth perfection! Even the bread that was brought out first, the side of fried okra we ordered (a Southern delight!) and the ample baked potatoes were delicious. The meal was worth every penny. We enjoyed our visit very much and will definitely be returning!
