Celebrated my dad's 85th birthday. Great Food and service was amazing!
Long-time customers; haven't been going out much for too long. Was everything we remembered - the even menu was recognizable. Paul was pleasant, knowledgeable.
Food was very good - hot and as ordered. Green salad was best in town. Servings were more than adequate - brought some home.
Definitely will return and take friends.
Our server Amber was amazing. So accommodating and friendly. Never felt neglected. Our food was delicious and hot and seasoned so good. Great clam chowder just needed a little extra spice but still great flavor. The crab and shrimp louie was perfectly portioned and loved how they plated and all the ingredients were in abundance. Separated but loved it. Great thousand island dressing.
The fish and chips were a big portioned and seasoned well and crunchy. Loved the horseradish they gave me to add to my cocktail sauce. This was one of the best meals I've had in along time! My mom celebrated her birthday here and really enjoyed the raspberry Lemonaide mojiti. We had a great time laughing and we ate everything.
Over-all the evening was great. Our waitress was excellant, the best so glad she waited on us. Myself and my friend were out for her birthday. She had the Top Sirlion and I had the New York. My New York had very good flavor but, I ordered it med and it was between mediun well and well. It was tough and my friend's was cooked correct but was also tough. Nice restaurant and will go back.
The seafood was spectacular. We were seated outside and enjoyed the evening Fall weather
Huge salads, good food, fun/fancy cocktails. Have been going there for 10 years. This time our friends with us ordered the fried oysters, which they always do and were disappointed. Manager gave them a discount. We will be back.
The food was excellent as always. I think the server was new or it was understaffed that day as she took one of our sets of utensils with the plate and forgot some things. The booth was very comfortable and the noise was minimal.
We had heard about this restaurant for many years but had never been. It will now be one of our favorites when visiting Salem.
Overall everything was good. Steak was a little tough and crab was dry. Ordered the Admiral platter, surf and turf and shrimp platter. The desserts were good too.
From hostess to server to delicious lunch…all excellent!
Always look forward to having lunch or dinner here .
Great chicken tenders but the steak and lobster was a joke. The lobster was so overcooked that it looked like rubber. Nothing close to the photos on the website. Ribs were absolutely tiny and little meat on them. Sad because I hyped this place up for a special occasion. Very disappointing. Probably won’t be back.
I felt the piped in music was turned up a little too much. I was disappointed that the penne parmesan side dish offering has been removed. The mac and cheese side dish was NOT the same and not near as tasty.
Our waitress was FABULOUS! She was all about service and making our experience excellent. I wish I remembered her name.
The food was excellent and filling. We tried an appetizer (crab and artichoke dip) for the first time at McGrath's and it was delicious. I come to eat my favorite dish, Halibut Parmesan and it was very good. Have loved the fish and chips too. The new Godiva chocolate mousse dessert was fantastic.
We WILL be back.
Excellent meal. I tried the new catfish entre. It was very good.
The service was a bit slow, but we figured they were short staffed due to COVID and didn't mind that. However, they weren't very welcoming and the overall customer service experience was subpar. No one was at the front desk when we arrived and it took a few minutes to be greeted. The food was also mediocre. The main complaint was the side dishes and appetizers. We ordered the Irish Nachos with the bacon on the side, but they also included bacon in the dish, the brussel sprout side dish was practically raw, and the macaroni & cheese was very bland and mushy. They did switch the sides on two dishes, so the waitress was nice enough to correct that for us. We were there for a birthday celebration, but there wasn't much to celebrate as far as the food and atmosphere.
The hazelnut crusted sole was delicious. Waiters were friendly. We ate outside and it was pleasant.
Sooooo much food! It was all delicious and our server was top notch!
I enjoyed mcgrath's but am still bitter at them closing their restaurants as they have.
Paul our waiter, was efficient and polite. Made us feel comfortable and added to the dining experience. Food was well prepared the servings perfectly sized. Wide range of menu items available and the bar well stocked.
We enjoyed our dining very much so food was good and service was good
We drove down from Portland. We didn’t know what to expect since our Milwaukie MCGrath’s closed. We found the food to be excellent, the staff to be very very nice and accommodating (we were very early for our reservation) and the restaurant was very COVID aware. We will definitely be making the trip back to Salem.
Food was great, service sucked. Never got a refill on my drink and had to ask for ranch for my salad 5x to 2 different people before I finally got it.
Our server was simply fantastic, an amazing young lady
We came a few months ago when I was visiting from California and LOVED it, so we came back but this time was not good. Service was slow and very unenthusiastic. They were out of what we wanted. And what we ended up getting was not good.
Our first time visiting McG's (I'm sure somebody must call it that). Wife and I went to the one in Salem for our anniversary. It was on an off-night (Monday), yet they were still moderately busy. Comfortable atmosphere. Easy for us to have a conversation across the table.
Our server (A) was terrific - we'll ask for her table again when we go back (because we will... go back).
Food was great. Price is on-par with the national always-the-same-everywhere-you-go seafood chains, but with a much truer, regional flavor - that small business being more passionate and caring thing maybe.
Wife says we should eat there more often.
What more could I say?
Did I mention the food rocked?
Our server was terrific. Everything was great. Thank you for accommodating 8 of us.
Food was just alright. I was expecting something better.
We enjoyed the ayce shrimp and the traditional shrimp dinner along with a garden salad and bread. The salads had everything from carrotts, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes...soo good. Bread as always was hot and so tasty...you have to be careful not to fill up on the bread before your meal arrives. Each of our shrimp dinners were very tasty and the variety of shrimp was super. Everything was fantastic.
Our waitress....PAIGE....was friendly and very engaging. She came and took our order soon after we sat down and the salads and bread came quickly. And Paige, she was a joy throughout our dining experience and really made it a great evening. As we told her, we would take her as a granddaughter in a heart beat.
Paige was very helpful and courteous. Her attention to detail was amazing!
When I ordered food… I was expecting the veggies to be covered in butter and the Brussels to be fried with the oils an other things. I was 100% surprised when my meal came out with the healthiest veggies (steamed). The Mac and cheese was actually freshly prepared and not the old casserole sitting under the warmer for hours. The plank salmon was incredible!! The ambiance was nice and quiet. Highly recommend!
When asked waitress did not know if fish was a filet or cut as a steak. Seems simple for a seafood house.
The waitress seemed rushed, unfamiliar with menu specifics, and did not seem to be paying much attention to what we were actually ordering. I specifically ordered Dungeness crab, but I received snow crab. She was also sloppy in some of the details of my daughter's orders.
Also the crab legs were oversalted.
We loved Jackie. Food is always guaranteed great.
We love the food. The balsamic vinaigrette is delicious.
The food is just ok... I went with friends and not akot of selection... small portions and the service was just ok...
The service was excellent. The place was clean. We ate outdoors and were completely happy with everything.
Our favorite place to eat. Always a pleasant experience.
Great service. They even turned on the TVs so we could watch the World Series. Attentive but not hovering. Food typical in chain seafood establishments, but still appetizing.
We were served grilled rockfish that was so over done that it was hard to cut through. The waitress sent the manager to change this out and we received a newly cooked fish after about 15min wait as promised. This piece was excellent. Our guest ordered a combo fish platter, she said that the fish was tasteless and overdone. All of her fried fish items were cooked too long.
our waitress was amazingly helpful and very responsive !
It was good meal time that I had. It was my birthday I had a good time.
