The service was great, the food good. After we spent a sum of money there, I got an email saying I didn't show up for my reservation. The staff cancelled my reservation on check in and obviously need to be trained on open table reservations so we can not feel hurt that the restaurant didn't acknowledge our reservation!!
The restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night. Could tell the waiter seemed new, but must have been his first day because the service was pretty bad - toward the end, he completely disappeared and we didn’t see him for 40 minutes. He never cleared the table, so the dishes sat in front of us for 1 1/2 hrs! There was another girl setting up tables and then started to scrub the floor - love that they are keeping it clean, but she dumped water on the brick floor and started scrubbing it next to a family of 6. The employees seem so unaware of everything and we never saw a manager.
Getting seated was very slow but our server was attentive. Food was good
We waited quite a while for our food and then one of the dishes was cold and had to be replaced...with no compensation. Beef and beer was great.
The food was really good and our server provided excellent customer service. I have been here several times for lunch but this was my first time for dinner. My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner.
We come on regular basses last trip food and service was great with exception of fries they were not very good. Need to bring back the Calimarie
Went with some friends for burger night. Burger was good. Restaurant was not crowded. Had a leisurely dinner. I have been here several times. Food is consistently good
Beautiful bar and restaurant. Lunch was great! We'll be back!
It was extremely noisy this time. Could not even have a conversation with those at the table.
it was fantastic!
Salad, soup and meal all came at the same time. Steak was cold.
Plates not cleared after appetizers.
Service was terrible; food was both over cooked and ice cold; should have gone to QDoba...
Sunday brunch had the important elements, pancakes and bloody marys. Relatively quiet shortly after opening. Good selection from the brunch menu. Customize-able drink bar with all the important additives. We didn't eat the rest of the day!
I won't be going back. We were there on a Thursday for Prime Rib night. We ordered it rare and it came out cold - and I mean cold. It didn't help that we had no utensils and had to wait and wait and wait and wait for our waitress. We ended up packing it up and taking it home so that we can put some heat to it. Also, we ordered appetizers. Before we could even eat them the meal was brought out. Really? It's not like there was a rush for tables. The place was mostly empty except or those at the bar.
Disappointed in my dinner this time. Had the blue berry spinach salad - supposed to have beets, blueberries, blue cheese and poppy seed dressing and walnuts . But it was mostly spinach, maybe 5-6 very very small chunks of beets, NO blueberries, a couple walnuts, and the salad hadn't even been tossed with the dressing - just a small blob of dressing in the middle - had to search for it.
Nice food with views to the lake. Nice decor but service very poor even when the restaurant is empty.
I meet with two friends here every year. They drive from Fenwick Island and I drive from Newark. It is an absolutely perfect meeting place. half way from both starting places, with a delightful ambience on the water, and TERRIFIC service from very nice people. We'll continue this tradition every year for as long as we can. THANK YOU.
Fun pub restaurant near Dover Downs on a pretty lake! Our first time there and stopped after a long drive! Just want we wanted- good food and friendly wait staff! Will return if we are in the area again!
Great find in Dover. Enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch overlooking the lake.
Most of the meals were pretty good, but the service was very poor. We assumed our waiter had never waited before. They didn't bus the table unless we ask them to. Too bad. It's been a reliable brand for so long but not this trip.
The server needs a lot more training. She didn't introduce herself, brought the wrong drink to my guest (he asked for soda water with lemon and she brought tap water with no lemon). When filling my water glass, instead of taking the glass and filling it to the side of the table, she proceeded to pour over the table (with water dripping on the extra napkins) between two people in the middle of a conversation. I ordered an entree salad that she forgot the dressing, it took over 5 minutes for her to bring that to the table. I will admit this was somewhat unusual for McGlynn's but the service has a tendency to be hit or miss. This was a business meeting so the lack of proper etiquette was even more glaring.
Delicious as always. Lovely Mother's Day dinner. Complementary flower for all the Mothers.
The entire restaurant including the bar and restrooms are filthy. We couldn't wait to leave.
Delighted to find a Gluten Free menu with several choices. We where there on a Sunday after the brunch. They had a SPECIAL's menu for the day food was very good. We had steaks, chicken fish and grill cheese for kids
I wouldn't recommend this place for catching a special occasion meal even with using the OpenTable app. We got seated right at our reservation time but it went downhill from there. It took 56 minutes from the time we were seated until the time our sandwich & wrap arrived. The kitchen got swamped by an order from a large group that was there for Mother's Day which in turn caused all other orders to be put on the back burner. Our waiter kept apologizing for the delay and explained what was going on but that didn't cure our hunger or the fact that the back up in the kitchen dampened our Mother's Day meal. Also, there wasn't a special meal offered, just the normal menu fare. Sadly, only three restaurants in the Dover area use OpenTable and one of them was a chain restaurant. We could have driven to the Wilmington area and got seated using OpenTable in less time than it took to get our food.
Very enjoyable meal and our server, Joel was great.
I even went back for lunch the next day.
Great food. Good variety on the menu. Large beverage selection. Service needs some improvement. Kitchen needs to speed up some.
5 of us gathered and enjoyed the food and our time together. Thanks!
Nice restaurant with a great view of Silver Lake. The food was good. Had buffalo wings, pretzels with a variety of tasty mustard, steak specials, and 2 kids meals of burger and fries. Servers seemed relatively new and little experience, but nice.
After we were seated, it took over 15 minutes to get the waiter to take drink orders. Then we had to ask him to take our order. When we finally got our food we had been seated for a hour. Food was good but service was poor at best.
We had a booth, which was nice, but the bar is still pretty loud. (To be fair, we were there on a Friday night). Food was good - several healthy options mixed in with traditional fare, and a great beer list. I had the power wrap and the house-made chips, both were good. My husband had the fish and chips and liked that, too.
Have been there several times. When I visit Dover and have a business lunch I always take my clients there. Good service and good food.
We took our parents out to dinner here and it was very good. We had prime Rib and it was outstanding. Our waitress Laura was pleasant and very helpful. She was on top of everything all night. The Hostess staff greated us right away and quickly sat us at our table. The food as mentioned was very good and a great value for what we paid. We will be back when we visit our parents again.
Our office is just across the lake from McGlynn's - so same great view and very convenient.
Have always had excellent service from Hostess Ashley, server Casey and all of the staff. The food comes out promptly and hot and the drinks come out promptly and are cold.
Great food, beer, and service, always a good experience at any of the McGlynns throughout the state!
Maybe it was because it was Friday night, or because it was Christmas party season, but the restaurant was so loud that our party of four literally could not hear each other speak due to the screaming from the bar area. Food was ok. When one of the senses so overwhelms you, it is hard to pay attention to the food. Not a good night, but we have had many nice meals at McGlynns so we won't let one bad one drive us away.
Our service was tepid to say the least - our waitress was slow, almost non-existent. She stood, scratching her leg for several minutes while waiting for our order. Icecream was melted - food lukewarm - I won't be back!
Excellent food. Will definitely come back.
Recommended by Fairfield Inns...arrived to beautiful site...inside as well...staff from front door in was fantastic...server was great...portions huge....food was great....happy experience
We had 16 people on the spur of the moment and they had no problem seating us on a short notice (after church call in). Beef and beer special on Sunday and a nice brunch menu.
