The food is not very good.
This cozy restaurant at the 320 Guest Ranch exceeded all of our expectations. From the servers to the incredible menu, you cannot go wrong with this incredible experience. The recommended wine was a fan favorite at our table and the trout entree will be everything you want and more. Do not sleep on this fantastic restaurant!
Trout with risotto was excellent, as was the service.
About 35 miles north of West Yellowstone, at the 320 Guest Ranch, and so worth the drive if you aren't already staying there! I hated sharing the game & mushrooms in a cream sauce we had as an appetizer - I wanted it all for me! Maybe over noodles...or rice. The blackened bison was AMAZING, on whole carrots and mashed potatoes. Foodie heaven!
This was the second time in a few months that we drove the extra miles for McGills and were disappointed. The first time we ate here, we waited for about 15-20 min for a wait staff to take our order. Seemed as though they weren’t sure who had our table. The second visit proved to start out well as our orders were taken very promptly (although pre dinner drinks took a very long time), but they were out of bread and out of one of the few entrees that two/five of our party wanted. It was only 7:45, so it wasn’t like we had 8:30 reservations......Also, the table beside us had two baskets of bread and we were told they were out bc they just let the “baker go on home.” My daughter and I both ordered an appetizer of roasted vegetables with added chicken and it was very disappointing. We will not be back.
The food was fine but not remarkable.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Beautiful setting. It was very busy so we were glad we made reservations. Smoked trout crostini and French onion soup were delicious. The Duck Pot Pie and the flatbread were good as well.
Food was excellent, service was quite lacking. Servers were quite inexperienced and inattentive. The atmosphere needs updating if they want to attract the clientele that they are aiming for.
food was awesome. friendly staff. great atmosphere.
Great food and service! We enjoyed the evening immensely!
Great food and place...just didn’t have a very attentive waitress...she never offered to refill our water once and didn’t communicate their tardiness at all. She might have just been having a bad day. The food was incredible
Overall, the staff is friendly, but slow. It took about 90 minutes to get our food, as did the tables around us. The menu items were fairly high-priced for what we received. My steak was very over cooked. I could tell that the cook had cut open the steak to check the temperature, and still sent out a fully gray steak when I had ordered it medium. Do not bother ordering dessert, my $14 chocolate parfait looked and tasted like a Jello pudding cup had been scooped into a brandy glass with whip cream added on top.
Maybe check out the bar area next time. Over all ok.
Excellent flavoring and pairings of dishes. My wife had the bison and said it was the best meat she’s ever eaten. I had a NY Strip and found it to be excellent as well. Our appetizer of mushrooms cooked with a sampling of game and domestic animal bites was incredible. Wish I lived closer to visit the 320 Ranch and McGills more often. Our waitress, Constance, was very accommodating, informative, and simply a pleasant presence during our meal.
Waitress was pleasant, food was good, beautiful setting. Totally enjoyable.
Appear to be profoundly understaffed
Food and ambience is great. Service was a little off (wine not delivered but billed, wrong items to guests) on this visit, but previous visits have been great. Sad to see a relaxing of mask use by staff during our Covid crisis, but this seems to be occurring at most restaurants in area.
Extremely poor service, food was bland, steak over cooked, ribs undercooked. We were told our apps would be comped and we paid for them because they were not taken off of our bill. At that point we just wanted to leave.
I have been going to 320 Ranch for over 10 years. It was a family favorite and would go several times a month when it was open in summer and winter. Recently it changed its marketing name to McGilI's at 320 ranch. I was excited to go and see how the new management and new menu would be. The service was terrible. We ordered appetizers which were delivered with our salads. The appetizers were not warm and not very tasty. The salads were ordered with dressing on the side and they came with dressing on them. One our dining party ordered the hamburger and said how do you screw up a hamburger. The fries were cold and not tasty and the hamburger looked as if it was from a diner. The menu was not near as good as the old menu. The desert menu was not impressive anymore. That is something we would always look forward too. It was not just a miss where you would go back again to see if they would improve. We will not be going back. Really sad, as this place has many great family memories.
Risotto was excellent. Steak was great. Trout needed something. Cindy our server was great! Cocktails were great.
The food was outstanding!!!! Our Server was very nice and did a good job. The only thing we didn't get was one of the drinks that we ordered. Because there were only a couple weeks left in the season they had not ordered anymore once they ran out and it was still available on the menu. Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend 320 Ranch Diner.
Normally dinner here is wonderful. Tonight the kitchen was just a bit off. One of our steaks came a bit overdone and the side of grains with the trout was just barely warm. The carrot cake was, as usual, spectacular and our server was great.
The 320 Guest Ranch steak house was very good! The service we good and the food was great. Highly recommend.
Our Sever was excellent, catered to our every need. It was quite due to the fact that it was late in season and a lot of people(tourist) were headed home. The food was great and we are going to go back every year for our anniversary and probably more!
Fantastic restaurant! We really enjoyed ourselves and the food was exquisite. They did sit us next to a large table and that was the only downfall; very very loud and noisy table. We would definitely return here for the food if we’re in this area again.
We celebrated our 40th anniversary at 320 Ranch Steakhouse and it was excellent! Great filet mignon and ribs. The coleslaw was amazing. Highly recommend eating here. We plan to return the next time we visit Big Sky.
Great place to have a bison filet! It was wonderful service and a perfect Montana atmosphere!
The 320 was wonderful. Have stayed and dined there before several times in the last 12 years, and it was a pleasure to return for an excellent dinner. Hope to be able to revisit soon the next time I am in Montana.
Good service. Didn’t care for the chicken wings - too much breading.
We all had a great dinner. We had the vegetarian dish, the bison steak, a filet and the hanger steak. All good was excellent and the rolls were amazing! Server, Jeffrey, was also amazing. Definitely will be returning.
We approached the property and were able to see the caravan of horses crossing to the field, which put us in the ranch mood. A nice young man named Coulter chatted with us. The property is beautiful and the dining room feels like Montana, log cabin-like and animal heads on the walls. We had such a nice waiter, very attentive! (He’s from NY, I don’t remember his name). My filet was cooked to perfection, with the Oscar sauce (it’s heavy but yummy) and my husband enjoyed a sirloin. We had creme brûlée for dessert, also very good. Great wine selection too. Highly recommend!
Great food and service in an authentic setting! Would recommend to couples, families, and friends
Food was excellent but a little expensive
My husband and i come to Big Sky often and had been to 320 a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. You can’t beat the mountain scenery around the ranch, which you can see from any table, as the room is surrounded by windows. There is a little stream with a small bridge outside, and horses on the ranch. Our meals were outstanding. We had the trout which came with steamed seasoned vegetables and a hearty seasoned pilaf which i think was a mix of barley, brown rice and lentils or brownberries, very good. The ceasar salad and the arugala salad were good. There is a decent wine by the glass list and good list of wines by the bottle. The wait staff were all very friendly, attentive and efficient. There was a large party next to us, and we noticed they all got their meals at once, the wait staff helping each other out. Good place for families, friends or just for two. Rustic but the right touch of elegance. Will go back again.
Meat was way over cooked. Twice, rolls were not homemade.
A nice quiet atmosphere and quality food and good menu. The service is excellent. Compared with some other restaurants in the area, the value is good.
We had a delicious dinner for our anniversary and the wine I had ordered with dinner was complimentary to help us celebrate. It was a sweet surprise! I had the oreo chocolate cheesecake for dessert and it was exquisite!
This is an unassuming looking place at an old dude ranch on the way to West Yellowstone from Bozeman. You could stop there, but I think most people who eat there are staying in the cabins; there's no town nearby.
We were comped champagne because it was our anniversary, and everyone was very friendly and accomodating. The mushroom soup was absolutely delicious, as was my trout. My husband usually finishes dinner, but his rib steak was too big for him.
We had a amazing meal! Everything was wonderfully prepared and tasted great. Staff were extremely friendly! We will be back.
The food is Better than Excellent! The steaks are just supreme! Have enjoyed the restaurant for years and will continue to visit the restaurant every chance we can. Was very disappointed to learn that the restaurant will not be open during the winter, as it has been one of our winter time favorites too.
