McCray's Tavern - Midtown
It was good food and nice ambience but the service was slow taking in consideration that it took more than an hour to complete our business lunch.
This is my "go to" when I'm meeting friends !! Parking next door too !! Can't beat it :)
Restaurant was not well staffed. It Took forever to get drinks and water cups were never refilled. My husband ordered a second beer and it came after we finished eating. Steak was undercooked and fries were cold—when we mentioned this to staff we were told they could warm up the fries. Food was pretty tasty but the whole experience was terrible for the price!!
Poor and slow service
NYE at McCrays- it was fine, we were seated upstairs which wasn’t fun for a NYE event. The “cash drop” was McCray’s cash and the midnight buffet would feed about 10 people. Servers weren’t even aware of what the event had to offer. It was a free event so hard to really complain but wouldn’t attend next year. Food was great though so I’ll return but just not for events.
Even though we were running late to our reservation on a busy night, the staff did not hesitate holding our table when I called them. Food was great and in a packed house, after the game, we did not have to wait additional time for drinks or food service.
Amazing place...great atmosphere and menu. Alexis was awesome as our server! Everything Scott McCray has done in Midtown is top shelf! Well done to an old friend in the industry.
GREAT service, good food, friendly atmosphere.
Lots of choices for a casual dinner
1 star for everything because we couldn’t actual taste the food, experience the ambiance or anything else. Made a reservation, walked there, checked in, and then we were told they “were on a wait” of about 20 to 30 mins. That’s the equivalent of not taking reservations, so I would suggest they do that.
I always enjoy my dinners at McCray's!!
The service was good and the folks friendly. Unfortunately the Buffalo chicken flatbread was cold and not flavorful. The salad was good. In fairness, they did apologize for the flatbread and compensated us for what we did not eat but I simply can’t give them a top rating. I’ll try them again another day and hopefully be able to give a better rating.
Great for watching football and enjoying some good bar food.
I met a group of friends on a Tuesday evening for dinner. The food was great. Service was a tad slow but not terribly so. The noise level increased 100-fold once the music got started, making conversation very difficult, and we were seated pretty far away from the stage. I had the Montfort burger without the bun, and the steamed veggies on the side. Both were very good.
Overall, we had a great time and I got my voice back the next morning. :)
Went as a large group of 7 dinner. Dining area was served by 2 but the speed was mediocre. Drinks took forever to arrive. Food on the other hand was also slow. The food itself was good. Ordered brisket plate. If service can live up to their high marks then I will rate it 5.
Great experience! Service and food were spectacular!
Had a great time! The service was good and the food was pretty good. Definitely will be back to try other things on the menu!
Shrimp and grits was fabulous
The Filet was OUTSTANDING and one of the best I have ever eaten. Chef Miguel does a GREAT Job!!
Saturday morning... Bloody Mary bar is excellent! White egg omelets and crispy hash browns very good. Great service!
Great food, good drinks, reasonably priced. Server was very efficient and did a good job, but no personality; acted like she really didn’t want to be there.
McCray’s never disappoints. The service was a bit slow and that was disappointing but the amazing food made up for it! Also, it was the first Sunday of football season so it was a little crowded...maybe that’s why the service was a little shaky.
Good experience. Don’t enjoy paying to park.
Only in town for a couple days and popped in for Sunday brunch. Amazing food and great service! Looking to come back next time I’m in town!
Love McCrays! I live in LaGrange Georgia and we frequent before going to the FOX. They are very timely and we have never had a bad dish. I had the southwestern bowl with Salmon the other night and it was delish!! easy parking in deck as well!!
EVERYTHING was OUTSTANDING!!

We reserved a table through OpenTable and the hostess immediately recognized our reservation. Our waitress came to us promptly, offered some spot-on suggestions, and was great. Food was FANTASTIC and came out fairly quickly. We didn't have any brewskies but I'd love to come back for drinks on a busy night as this seems like a pretty fun place.
Great brunch menu and drink specials. Service was fast and restaurant had nice vibe and very clean
Worst service I’ve had since moving to Midtown. A-Z. Food was ok, drink was below par. The restaurant was not busy in any way but it still took almost an hour to get our food.
Great friendly place to go watch a game. Burgers were very good
Great food and good energy. Great location as well.
Walked in and immediately liked the atmosphere. Beautiful bar, cute wooden tables, cool lights. Sat at our table for a few minutes before a server came. She greeted us like she hated her job. We got drinks - cheap and good. We ordered food and for the price - I thought it was decent. I got the shrimp and grits and my boyfriend got the Reuben. He said he was a little disappointed with his meal. I think the place is good for bar food but I was expecting something a little nicer.
We arrived on time and were told they had no tables available despite our reservation.
Went for lunch and it was great! Service was especially good.
My first time having the "Buffalo Chicken" soup and it was fantastic!
The ENTIRE dinner was EXCEPTIONAL! The waiter, chef and manager were great. The food was SPECTACULAR!!
Very good food and good energetic atmosphere. Good mixture of business environment for business meals and also casual meals.
Food wise I loved the place, but service was terrible. Granted it was mother’s day the place was not that packed. We were given two servers one was decent but the other was rude and disrespectful, she did not take in to account our time or our experience at the restaurant. Would definitely go back for the food but if I get the same server I will quickly ask for someone else.
My family and I came expecting Mothers Day brunch. We arrived and it was over. We were given wrong info.
You might consider McCray’s for an everyday meal, but do not visit for a special occasion. We had a 12:30 reservation but were not seated until after 1. The reason we were given was that the earlier crowd arrived late “due to the rain” and that they didn’t feel comfortable kicking people out. I get not kicking people out, but if someone is more than 15 minutes late for their reservation, they should be out of luck. Once we were seated, we went to the buffet. There were no plates. We waited nearly 10 minutes for plates. Mind you, the buffet was the ONLY option this day. Plate supply should not be an issue. Food was so-so and definitely not worth the $30/person being charged. Quality was just not there (e.g., ham so dry it could have been kindling). Drink delivery was slow, but that was NOT on the servers. They were working their rear ends off, but management had not staffed accordingly. Women’s bathroom was out of toilet paper. And my sister said they had to practically beg for the check (I had left by then). Again, maybe fine any other day, but they were woefully underprepared and understaffed for the busiest brunch day of the year.
