Great food. Great service. McCrady’s is a must when visiting Charleston
#1. Was asked to elaborate. It was number 1
Our second visit to what we think is the best Foodie place in Charleston. The tasting menu by chef Ben Norton was inventive and well presented. The wine pairings were perfectly complementary to the food. Our servers Vilda and Patrick were well versed on all the presentations. The setting around a 16 person bar is unique but elegant and provides a great opportunity to chat about the cuisine.
A great experience with exceptional service and cuisine in an intimate yet different type of restaurant setting.
The food is excellent. Chef Ben is a genius. I enjoyed all the dishes I had . He incorporated French technique with Japanese influences, but not overpowering. They are very tasty and balanced. I enjoyed the seafood dishes slightly more than the duck and pork dishes , and surprisingly the rice dish was amazing . Service was incredible; there were 5 servers who took care of 20 guests. I have eaten at a lot of Michelin restaurants in NY , SF, Paris ... I think the value is totally worth it
McCrady's was an absolutely incredible experience. We came to celebrate our anniversary, and everything was perfect, from the initial phone call confirmation, to the last course of the meal. The servers were attentive and passionate, yet welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant!
This was an incredible experience from beginning to end. I can’t recommend it enough. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable. We can’t wait to go back.
We walked in the front door 5 minutes prior to our reservation and were offered a glass of complimentary sparkling wine while we waited in a comfortable room. Parties were seated in what seemed to be precise staggering of 15 minutes which ensured good flow and service throughout the evening. We had the caviar and base wine pairing add-ons. The food was wonderful. The dishes were light and creative, though did not leave us still feeling hungry at the end of the night. Each wine was presented with a history of the vineyard or winemaker. Even a trip to the restroom brought a pleasant surprise of luxury with offerings of soap, hand scrub, and lotion. The whole experience lasted a little over 2 hours. The only thing that kept this review from being 5 stars across the board was the temperature of the dining room. It was fine at first, but got very cold toward the second half of our meal. We asked about it and were told it was 71 degrees, but they would raise it some. It never seemed to get warmer. I think we may have been sitting directly below an air vent (right corner of the bar), so maybe that's why it felt colder to us.
The dining experience at McCrady's Restaurant was phenomenal. The wine pairings with the food was outstanding. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. The progressive tasting dishes were impeccably prepared, delicious, and some of the best food we have ever had. We have eaten at 6 other 5-diamond restaurants, and McCrady's was the best we have been to. One of the best features was the casualness of the atmosphere, which ensure the focus was on the dining experience. I cannot recommend this dining experience high enough. If the AAA could give a 6-diamond rating, McCrady's Restaurant should have it!
Everything was top notch but at $325/person with a modest wine pairing it was a bit pricey.
Staff was fantastic.
Rarely does a restaurant live up to the hype, especially when it’s promoted as “high end” in a touristy city. Worth every single penny. Service was impeccable. Food was one explosion of flavor after another creating an absolute symphony of blends both unexpected and exceptionally satisfying. It was easily the most well orchestrated combination enjoyed so far in Charleston.
Great tasting menu experience!
The ambiance and service here are top-notch. The views of the kitchen provide a unique experience that you generally do not get to see. It's a very intimate dining experience that allows you to converse with each other and the others around you.
The flavors are southern in nature but elevated. The seafood courses stood out as expected. We had some great wine pairings and service from both the staff and the manager. To see the setup and breakdown after each course is a well-orchestrated show to experience.
Very tasty tasting menu! Very friendly service. Pricey as all tasting menus seem to be. A nice treat yourself!
This was a fantastic experience on our 40th wedding anniversary. The food was exquisite, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere very nice. We had about a dozen different dishes and ordered the wine pairings to go with them. The sommelier made great choices and described the wine to us in detail. Likewise, the wait staff and the chefs explained each dish and how to best enjoy it. The place is a culinary masterpiece and somewhere to go when the occasion is extra special. The only disappointment was that we were asked if we wanted to “supersize” our meal with a caviar dish or add wagyu beef, which we declined. We did not leave hungry, but a couple of hours later we had a case of the “munchies”. Given the magnitude of our tab one might expect they would have included the “options” with the dinner. However, that didn’t detract from the overall experience which was excellent.
We came here to celebrate our wedding and we were not disappointed in ANY way. This place is marvelous... unique flavors that speak of the low country and Southern charm. Thanks for sharing our special day!
Disappointed. After all the hype and great reviews, we were super excited for this experience. The service was ok, didn’t feel special - very rehearsed and tired. The food was flat out disappointing. Some of courses we could sit back and say - I see what the chef was trying to do, but the shrimp would be overcooked or the pumpkin would be cut too thick to accomplish what the chef was trying to achieve. To give a few examples. Also kind of surprised that even though there was an open kitchen, we had absolutely no interaction with any of the 4 cooks. In fact, 3 of the 4 left before the last course was even served. I’m being particular but when the final bill is over $700 for 2 people, you expect amazing. Also felt like the “upsell” by giving us a $50 gift card if we come back in January, (which they also gave to everyone) at the end of the meal was pretty tacky.
Really hate to leave this negative review, but I have to be honest. Our expectations were high, and as the saying goes - the gap between expectations and reality is disappointment.
What a wonderful tasting menu! A real treat for any food lover out there. Service was also superb!
Amazing Tasting Menu. Service was great as soon as you walked into the restaurant. They had some extra supplements which were very tasty, would go back again.
Great food and wine pairing experience. Expensive, but great for a special occasion. Better for more adventurous palates.
I’m not gunna lie, I came to Charleston mainly to eat at husk and McCrady’s because Chef Sean Brock is a culinary hero of mine due to his philosophy with good. I never read the news about him stepping away from them to do his own thing in Nashville. Regardless I was going to eat there because I would assume the people there in the kitchen knew what they were doing and had the same love for southern food. I was 100% correct! Omg wow it was amazing. It was playful, delicious, and not pretentious. I got to tell the chef how amazing the meal was and that I dream to have my restaurant and food be on that level. Keep it up please!
Impeccable service from start to finish! A very unique dining experience, highly recommend the wine pairing. Already planning our next trip!
Amazing experience. My boyfriend and I went there for his birthday and we had a great time.
This place is an absolute scam. If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would. They charged my family of 4 $1300. The first portion was the inside scrapings of someone’s kid’s Halloween pumpkin that they “froze” and served later and the rest of the meal wasn’t any better. We paid extra for the wagyu beef special and that was like paying extra to eat the fat off a prime rib. Oh don’t worry you got two bites of shrimp that were good and the fish soup was ok too but just figure out if that’s worth the cost before showing up. We would absolutely never eat there again.
Great for a special occasion! Tasting menu was great, wine pairings were very nice!
Top restaurant in Charleston. Very inventive tasting menu, with a very laid back setting where the food is the focus and not what designer clothing you are wearing.
We had dinner here to celebrate our 20th anniversary! It was an incredible experience. The whole night was special and the food was amazing. We had a wonderful time and will remember this meal for years to come!
If you want an interesting experience, combinations of ingredients that are unusual, and bit of a food snob, this is a good place. It is an experience of eating, somewhat reserved, tiny portions - I have had tasting menus before, I left this one a bit hungry. Service was wonderful and kind, and clearly they enjoy what they do. The setting is very unusual, and while it is a small crowd, it is not actually conducive to conversation with anyone other than the person right next to you.
It was truly an experience! Dedicated team and beautiful presentation!
Great food, Great staff. Beautiful restaurant. Great experience.
Outstanding meal from start to finish. Great service, high quality and expertly prepared food, stand out was the wagyu beef (additional charge). We will definitely eat here again when visiting Charleston
The staff at McGrady's always delivers - great food, great service and great wine selections on the tasting menu. Fingers cross the formula keeps working given the wide array of dining choices in Charleston. We always visit McGrady's when in Charleston.
Simply an amazing experience... we added the reserve wine pairing. Was a bit pricey but worth it.
