McCormick's Fish House - Beaverton Ratings and Reviews
Once again we had a spectacular meal with you folks! Love seeing the same faces when we come back. We had the fish and chips, the best around, and believe me, we have tried many places! Not to sound redundant, but the consistency and quality of food we always receive is just wonderful! Thank you! See you soon :)
Seafood here is exceptional. We had salmon and scallops, both exquisitely prepared and presented. Wine selection is very good, and our gin martinis were great. Dessert (crepe brûlée and Irish coffee) was superb. Only hiccup was appetizers. We wanted Oysters Rockefeller, but the only option included bacon, which we won’t eat. That’s not a traditional Oysters Rockefeller, but it’s all they could do, so we passed on that course. I was surprised they wouldn’t accommodate a ‘no bacon’ request.
McCormick’s has been a staple in Beaverton for years & recently has asserted itself as one of the best upscale but casual places on the west side of Portland. The chef & waite staff are excellent & the atmosphere is comfortable & inviting. Our meals were all very good even though they were slammed on Christmas Day.
This was to have been my Team Holiday Celebration, unfortunately both other members of the team cancelled so it was just me. But I still had a great bite to eat with fabulous service! What could have been an unpleasant event turned into a lovely quiet moment in all the holiday chaos! Thank you Fish House!
We had a large group and were seated in the back at Charles' table. He was charming. Food was great. Kids were entertained. Wine was lovely. The best part was seeing my dad's face light up when he read the top of the menu, "Happy Birthday Papa Cliff!". That custom touch was priceless. I'd highly recommend this classic restaurant for your next special dinner with a large group.
Went for Thanksgiving Dinner 2017 at McCormick's Fish House in Beaverton. We just moved to Portland Area and are waiting to close on our new home. We wanted to have a nice holiday dinner which we could not do in our temporary rental.
We ordered off the standard menu (i.e. no Turkey Dinner). Service was rushed. Staff was very polite. But, portions for food and wine were significantly less than we experienced when we dined at McCormick & Schmick's restaurants in both Seattle and St Louis for such holiday meals.
All in all, disappointing.
I was both called and emailed to confirm our reservation. We were seated immediately even on a holiday. Our server was prompt and thorough, stayed attentive to our needs. We were hosting my 91 year old mother and I think she enjoyed her meal - I would take her there again.
We have enjoyed McCormick's in the past for Happy Hour, drinks & dessert, Birthdays, etc., but this year we were looking for a place to have Thanksgiving Dinner. We were able to get a reservation and were thrilled with the experience. They sat us immediately, the service was great the whole time, and we had a choice of either a traditional Thanksgiving dinner OR the rest of the menu. The turkey dinner with "all the trimmings" was delicious and plentiful, plus we also had some appetizers (Coconut shrimp and Ahi...SO GOOD!), and a couple other menu selections. Everything was excellent. This might be our new Thanksgiving tradition!
Our review of dinner at McCormick's last Friday night is mixed! I personally thought my almond crusted trout with the rice mix and green beans was excellent with just the right amount of sauce. However, my husband felt the mahi mahi special had too much of the sauce that came with it although he said the fish itself was quite good. We probably got off on a rough start when his beer came warm but in a cold glass. Granted our waiter offered a new beer, but we felt that the next one would be from the same stock and would also be warm. I would also suggest a different bread supplier as it was not very flavorful nor was the butter spread. Any of the breads from Grand Central would have been MUCH better especially if it was warm!! Sorry because we really like the McCormick restaurants!
We have been here every Veteran's Day for many years and this is the first time I was a bit disappointed. Every other year, if I asked for something not quite standard like I brought my own tea bags because nobody carries my tea, it was no problem and I got prompt hot water refills. Or one time I asked if I could get the Lobster Bisque made with crab instead of lobster, it was no problem. This time the waiter said no menu changes (even though I was paying for my meal (I am not a veteran so mine was not free on Veteran's day). They were not as busy as they had been other years either. All in all, I was not as impressed with the waiter even though he made all the right moves(he checked on us a couple of times and finally asked if we wanted dessert) he did not really make me feel welcome. I will give them another chance because I really loved their Crab Bisque (wish they would bring it back) and their corn chowder. I ordered Fish and chips abut they were seasoned a bit too much and were very spicy as well as the sauce was very spicy unlike regular tartar sauce. It was a mixed bag this year I was disappointed but am willing to try again. I still recommend this place because they have extremely good food -everyone hires a not quite so good staff person sometimes.
The seafood we ordered was overcooked and dry...very disappointed. No lemon was served with my stuffed shrimp, which may helped the dryness...the cheddar mashed potatoes looked like they were made with powdered cheese...very unappetizing . On the plus side, the green beans were good. My husband's buttermilk shrimp were overdone, dark brown in color, cole slaw?? is that what it was called? On the plus side, fries were decent. Service was not great, she appeared to be rushed and took awhile to come back to ask how the meal was...never asked if we needed refills etc...maybe she is not up to serving or you need more servers! The highlight was the chocolate mousse pie with raspberries...
We were 2 couples. Two people ordered soup or salad. Waitress said there would be bread but when our entrees came, we still had no bread. My meal was parmesan coated chicken but it was extremely tough. I had mashed potatoes which were VERY dry. I should have asked for butter. The other couple each ordered a dessert. My husband and I ordered a dessert to share. The other couple received their desserts and no mention was made of ours. Our waitress came by and we said we were missing our dessert. Didn't say sorry. We waited quite a while before ours was brought out. The dessert was good. Other meals were good. Free meals for veterans were appreciated. Added salads and desserts are pretty expensive.
I am almost 94 years old and I was celebrating with my two sons and wives and one grandson and girlfriend moving out of my house for 30 years to an Independent Living Facility, they all worked so hard to make it as smooth as possible so it was my treat to say Thank you. Food and dessert were delicious and Charlie our server was very obliging, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening together which unfortunately these days does not happen often enough owing to distance. Sorry we did not take pictures.
