McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Washington DC (K Street) Ratings and Reviews
Had Thanksgiving dinner here. Was very disappointed in both food and service. Took close to ten minutes after we were seated to have someone acknowledge we were there (restaurant was not full). Looked like there were plenty of bus boys to at least bring water. Ordered the crab tower for appetizer and that did come out pretty quick, but took at least 40 minutes for the rest of our meal— the thanksgiving special (which was all probably pre made already) and a filet mignon, so didn’t order anything complex. Waiter never stopped by durIng the meal to see how everything was. Food was mediocre. No water refills. As we were leaving, I noticed other sections had gotten bread...no one around our table did. I was expecting much more service and food wise especially for the price we paid. Will not recommend this place to anyone.
Overall, it was a very good dining experience. The food was excellent in taste, presentation, and portion. The wine we chose was also excellent and not overpriced. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the lighting was subdued, but it was easy to read the menu, etc. The staff was friendly and professional. There was one minor detractor in the service. Our sever made two order mistakes. One was in the quantity of an appetizer (ordered 8 oysters on the half-shell but received 6); the other was needing reminding about one of our desert orders. Those were minor annoyances, and we still had an overall very good dining experience. We won't hesitate to visit this McCormick and Schmick's again.
Had mentioned it was a spevial occaision, my wife’s birtheday and celebration of my daughter’s college admission, however no recognition was given.
Also not happy getting a 4-person table with an extra chair right beside the entrance.
Service was not as good as should be expected for this kind of restaurant (and as I have experienced from other restaurants in the chain). Not likely to come back to this location.
Food was great! Came out hot and was very tasty! Waiter was a little slow and a little inattentive but it did not spoil the occasion. He was friendly. Just did not worry about our needs. We were never asked about refills on our drinks. Would still visit again though. Love the desserts!! Purchased the caramel crust pie to eat there and the Chocolate bag for later!!
I ordered a cocktail and wanted to swap the vodka for burbon and they did it was a yummy drink....Ruby revival.
We ordered the lump crab tower with avocado and mango vinaigrette and ahi tuna tartare for appetizers and shared the scallops for entree which were seared to perfection!!
We had a reservation for 3 for their veteran free meal (all three are veterans). Our reservation specified window seating, with one opening, however it was being held for another group so they sat us in the middle of a booth. That was fine. The booth was not set up. Took 5 minutes for someone to get us napkins. Took our waiter over 10 minutes to greet us. Once our drink were ordered, he brought down some bread, of course, with our table not set up from the get go, we waited another 5 minutes for bread plate. We ordered multiple appetizers and our table had no salt or pepper. Being as our waiter wasn't around, we ended up getting one from an empty table. Food was great but the wait was not. At the end, we had enough and asked for the check. Took our waiter 10 minutes to get it. I love McCormick back in the west cost but definitely will not be back to this place.
Terrible dining experience. I am allergic to mushrooms - I shared as much with the waiter. My order arrived with enough shrooms to fill a garden. No apologies. I then ordered a "safe" option from the menu...a burger..cooked medium...of course it came out well done. All this on a night that they were supposed to be honoring veterans. Guess they don't like the military. Save your money and a trip. This place has gone to hell in a hand basket.
1st time @ M & S on K St. (downtown Washington, DC); was there with another couple for Veterans' Day Special. As usual @ M & S, service was great--efficient & friendly--and the food really delicious. Many thanks to M & S staff for yet another memorable meal.
The staff was good but fly's in the water and the under cooked food. The apple pie is really what made me upset the walnut crust was paper thin. They just covered a Mrs Smith pie with a few walnuts. The Spanish coffee was not well made and silverware was dirty. The waiter was real nice otherwise I would have walked out earlier. The Fairfax and National harbor have been 1000 times better.
I've enjoyed McCormick & Schmick's over the years for various occasions. I've been going to the Veteran's Celebration dinner at McCormick & Schmick's on K Street since it began. As a veteran myself and the daughter of a 45 year veteran, I enjoy the gathering and atmosphere of that day there. When my father passed in 2011, I chose to carry on the tradition with my mother.
Yesterdays dinner was excellent. We sat in a booth by the kitchen area, I love the preparation and presentation that takes place and had the best server, Ali. He was gracious, attentive but overall exceedingly polite. My mother has food allergies and Ali did everything possible to ensure she enjoyed her meal.
Although I look forward to the celebration next year, I'll continue to treasure the ambience of McCormick & Schmick's.
This is the second year that we have attended the free dinner for veterans meal at this restaurant. I do enjoy the food at McCormick & Schmidt. The service is what I find lacking. I know it is a busy occasion but one too many forgotten requests made the meal less than enjoyable. When reminded of requests our serve seemed annoyed. I found this to be the norm on both outings.
I'm a vet so I ceased the opportunity to enjoy a free meal for Veterans Day. As Always, the food was fantastic and I just can't say enough about it. The ambience was great; not too noisy; not too quiet. I do so look forward to visiting this establishment. Food, service, and all other features are great!
My wife and I went for the Veteran's Day special. I had salmon pasta and she had the flounder. The food was very good. The service was very attentive. At lunch, the restaurant was quite busy, but everything was perfect. We had not been here for a very long time. However, what we had led us to the conclusion that we should come back again soon. We look forward to a return trip.
I can't deliver anything but praise. We were seated immediately upon arrival, at our reservation time. Our server was prompt and efficient. Our drinks were delivered and perfectly prepared. My fresh oysters were tasty and my wife's wedge salad was crisp, cold and the dressing was terrific. My blackened salmon was great and the red pepper mashed potatoes were a great addition to the meal. My wife's surf and turf was prepared perfectly, with the meat being tender and the crabcake broiled and full of lump crabmeat. It was a terrific evening.
I have always liked this place which is a good value for lunch (happy hour specials are also good but it can get crowded). This time I asked for something that was taken off the menu and I will pleased that the staff were able to make it for me anyway. I'll be back !
The food itself as well as the presentation was excellent. I had the sesame crusted tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes. Delicious!
The only negative and it tainted the visit was the poor service. We were a party of 7 and waters went un-refilled, the waiter would disappear, the drink order was slow in coming out. A request for low-fat or whole milk ordered with coffee had to be reminded., etc.
This is unfortunate and not like my past visits to the restaurant.
