McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Washington DC (K Street) Ratings and Reviews
Terrible terrible service and tasteless food. There are about 100 other places I’d rather pay $50 for a steak. The server didn’t come back once after a food came except to deliver the check. Steak was over cooked and unseasoned. We could hear the kitchen staff’s crude jokes to each other from our table.
Took my wife there for Valentine Day and had a great time. I use to work in DC so this was my favorite Happy Hour restaurant. The location and the professional service you get there can't be beat. I also go to the one in Reston VA, National Harbor and actually any city their in. I really enjoy the food, being part of the Landry Select Club which offer extra benefits when I go to M&S to eat. Strongly recommend for date night, Anniversary, birthday party's or just after hour's after a hard days work.

30 minutes after the order was placed we were told one of the dishes were not available. How does that happen? Inexcusable. Manager didn’t seem to completely understand the problem. Only after much pressure, the replacement dish was comped. We were very disappointed with the evening. The server understood. The manager didn’t.
Service and food quality were FAR lower than expected. Rice on sea bass was horribly cooked, though we got a reduction in price. The only dish that was hot were French fries . . . truffle fries were ordered but plane fries were delivered. Service was extremely slow. Supposedly bread was baking but arrived very late. One salad was not delivered but was included on check in spite of repeated assurances that it would be taken off. I eventually paid it to avoid more discussion. More time was taken having us sign up for a discount card of some sort than was taken attending to our service. Sadly, we will not return and will not recommend M&S.
Overrated...I think they live off their reputation of the past. I was disappointed by every phase of service, the greeting, the service, the food, well dessert was the star. everything came out at the same time, drinks, bread, apps, and entrees...a big no no! It was restaurant week and the server and apparently the host did not know either because it was not promoted or mentioned to any of the diners. And yes, they actually had a restaurant week menu. Albeit, it has been years, this restaurant has fallen off big time. The servers was dress more professional than the manager. At the end of the day, I can tolerate bad service, but the food must be better than good. They lost me with the food. It just was not good...signature chicken was dry and the sauce was way too salty.
For this restaurant not even to be crowded or had the worst service ever!! We had to ask for bread, we never got the salads we ordered. My husband asked for a “Corona” and got “Rum”!!! Worst service ever!! Won’t recommend this place to anyone I like or even dislike for that matter!!
This used to be a QUIET and elegant dining establishment, where it was a pleasure to bring friends and family. Now, sadly, it is an unbelievably noisy sports bar type place with incredibly loud and terrible “music” echoing troughout. It is no longer worthy of the name McCormick & Schmick’s. Little wonder, that the place was half empty on a busy Friday evening.
First less than great experience I've had there. Service extremely slow, took 45 minutes to get soup and salad. Another 20 for lunch to arrive. Server kept disappearing. Food came out with some items cold. Not the level of quality I have always gotten there.
I LOVE the private booths that are NOT separate rooms. I have been to your location 4 times in 3 years in conjunction with a conference. Vinny was THE waiter, but he no longer works there.
I loved hearing about the ability to put a message on our menus, and I did. However, once I saw the message, I was pleasantly surprised that one of the clients actually noticed it! Your menus are so packed with text (and choices) that you really need to use a very different font for such messages. Great idea, but it almost went unnoticed. 5 of 6 entrees were excellent. My Blackened Salmon was also excellent, but it was so salty that I could only eat half.
I was dining with great clients of mine and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with appetizers, wine and desserts. I'm certain to be back and hope to be 100% in all areas as had been my experience on previous occasions. Thank you.
I have been a customer or McCormick & Schmick's often, especially in Chicago and love it. However, my visit to the one on K Street in Chicago was well below par for one reason - service. It took forever to get our drinks. It even took 15 minutes before water was on the table. We had already ordered a dozen oysters before we realized the service wasn't going to get any better. When we complained to the waiter he blamed it on the bar because it was 'Happy Hour'. I guarantee you I was about to drop a whole lot more money on dinner and drinks than anyone in the bar would. We ended up leaving after the oysters and one round of drinks (45 minutes) and went elsewhere to finish our meal.
We did enjoy ourselves and the meals but I was extremely disappointed that no one acknowledged our daughter's birthday. In the Open Table reservation, I specified Birthday - Special Occasion and, again, when we entered and checked in, I re-emphasized at the front desk, we were there to celebrate our daughter's birthday - but no one said or made any kind gesture (lit candle, nice dessert) to celebrate the occasion we were there to celebrate. We may visit your restaurant again in the future but not to celebrate a special occasion.
I’ve come to rely on good service and food from MS but was disappointed in my most recent visit. This was primarily due to the service. Members of my guest party ordered warm tea and were given a cup of hot water absent the customary kettle which was only brought when requested and only after all others received their drinks - how long does it take to get hot water? This was followed by one of my party’s steak being brought out without a steak knife. Took two requests to have it brought out. While these things in and of themselves didn’t kill the evening it’s not the MS service I have come to know and rely on.
Terrible service we sat with no refills had to ask another waiter to bring us something to drink so we could finish our food. We are no check finally we ask to speak to manager she had nothing to say except I will reprimand him and still no service. Asked for the check no dessert recommendations finally just paid and left. Embarrassing.
The filet mignon was over cooked, tough and disappointing. I had Chrismas dinner there last year and it was quite good. It may sound silly but the waiter was over attentive. It was uncomfortable and intrusive. Overall it is not an experience I wish to repeat.
We have been to McCormick's for Christmas Eve 10 out of the last 12 years...in Bethesda, Washington DC and out in Oregon. It's a family tradition. This year, the whole experience was dreadful. We requested a booth, and instead were placed at a round table out in the open...directly next to the front door so each time it opened we got a nice gust of 30 degree wind. And the table was right under a speaker that was blaring Christmas music. I went to the front desk and asked for the music to be turned down. There were 5 people standing there dressed in black and doing nothing (the restaurant was 20% full). They said they would have to ask the manager. Went back to our table and waited on a waiter who had tables all over the restaurant. Food was fine, ambience was atrocious, waiter was doing his best and the 5 people at the check-in desk were just collecting a check. What a disappointing evening. Don't know if there will be a next time...
Not the best McCormick & Schmick's I have been to by far. The service was just ok, nothing great. It took a good amount of time to get our drinks. This was surprising because the restaurant was far from busy. First we were waiting for a mixed drink, then we were waiting for a glass of wine. It was noisier than it likely normally would be due to a couple of bigger tables evidently celebrating the holidays. The food was good, but nothing stellar. For the money, there are other restaurants that represent better value.
