McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Virginia Beach Ratings and Reviews
My friend and I had dinner Thursday night at McCormick and Schmick’s. We had reservations and were seated promptly with a window seat as I had asked. It wasn’t a busy night and we had a good waitress. She took our drink order, and brought our drinks promptly. We had both ordered mixed drinks and they were perfect! The appetizers were good as well. When our meal came, it was nearly cold, but we ate it and that too was good.
I have one suggestion for the restaurant in Virginia Beach. Warm your plates, as they were cold to the touch. Covering the plates would keep the meal warmer still.
I'm a seafood lover so of course I'm inclined to love the menu. But most seafood restaurants don't do it well. I think they do a wonderful job at M&S with classic seafood dishes as well as some creative new items. They oysters are always fresh and presented well. My favorite dish is the Stuffed Salmon (different variations are typically on the menu) and the Parmesan crusted Flounder. Just about everything I've ordered here is yummy and fresh.
On this visit I appreciated how the staff wished my wife a Happy Birthday several times (noted it on my Open Table reservation form) and gave us our favorite booth. The staff is always well trained and sharp as a tack. Overall, I'm a fan.
Food was good, but service was a bit slow. Also, when we were asked to use our Landrys card, we got a barrage of questions on deferments, etc that we didn't know how to answer. That, plus our waitress couldn't find my client's info on the system, but didn't give me points when she knew I was a Landrys member as well.
We had a great lunch at McCormick and Schmick's in Virginia Beach yesterday during their Veterans Day celebration. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was quiet. Our waitress (I think her name was Sandra) took excellent care of us and added to our overall excellent experience. The new Manager (not sure how long he has been here but we have never seen him before) was friendly and hospitable.
I have ate at McCormick many times and this is the first time I didn't enjoy my meal or experience. The clam soup was amazing as always however my wife's food came out cold and mine was luke warm. Also, the atmosphere was very casual and not as upscale as it use to feel. My wife and I were dressed up and felt out of place.
Service was horrible. We had to wait about 17 minutes each time we wanted a new drink, and the restaurant was not busy so there was no excuse. Husband ordered a medium steak and it came out medium rare and cold. They did take it back to cook it longer, but by the time they brought it back out my food was cold.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the manager, Jim and two of his staff members. We arrived early so decided to spend some time at the bar. Cocktails and quesadillas were excellent. We enjoyed conversing with John, our bartender who was a great bartender. We were later escorted to a nice private table and greeted by our friendly server, Sara. We enjoyed their special 3 course meal. I chose the bourbon glazed salmon and my husband chose the beef medallions and shrimp. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. We ended this perfect dinner with crepe brûlée and molten cake.
We belong to the Landry's Select Club and dined at McCormick & Schmick to celebrate my birthday and redeem my birthday points. We hadn't dined at this restaurant recently but were absolutely delighted with our recent visit. We started at the bar where we enjoyed drinks at Happy Hour prices. Our Server SuSu was fantastic and the drinks she prepared as well as her service were outstanding! We were seated right on time in a booth that we requested where we enjoyed a private and quiet dining experience. Maria provided prompt and professional service and we thoroughly enjoyed our entries and dessert! I highly recommend McCormick & Schmick to anyone looking for a high quality seafood restaurant in the Town Center of Virginia Beach, VA!
The service was good, but it would have been nice if the server would have told us how long the bread take to arrive. When the bread didn't arrive with lunch; I inquired if it was available. Reply was yes, I get that right out to you. It didn't come until the meals were virtually consumed. Well, all 5 of us ate it and it was delicious! It would have just been nicer with the meal. You guys should mention how good it is and that it is baked on request.
It was my first time every going . The food and service was excellent. The waitress came every 5 minutes to check on us . It was my husbands birthday and they gave him ice cream with a warm brownie toped with nuts and caramel, which was also very delicious. I would be going again.
I went for my wife’s birthday. The food was good but it felt like a chain restaurants meal. We’ve been there in the past, and we were impressed so we went back for my wife’s birthday. It wasn’t memorable but it wasn’t terrible either. The ambiance is nice. It was quiet. Service was okay. I’ve had better service there for sure so it may have been just the waitress we had. I’m sure we will be back, but not anytime soon.
We had great deserts and one of us had a good meal. However, one of the steaks was charred and one of the fish dishes was as hard as a hockey puck. This was a surprise - we have had nice meals here before. We will probably try again, but this was not an impressive experience.
