McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Virginia Beach Ratings and Reviews
We’ve been to this particular location several times, but this time was a little off. The server was great, but seemed to be a bit overloaded. The stretches of time between us seeing her was frustrating.
The steaks were definitely not up to typical standards. They came the right temperature, but they were very bland. It seemed like the steaks weren’t seasoned at all. I usually never have to use steak sauce, but on this visit we had to. I also ordered the truffle frites for the first time and I’m pretty sure they were not fresh fries. The quality was on the level of the frozen fries I have in the freezer at home. The appetizers, salad and desert were all good as usual.
Overall, it was just a subpar experience. This time being our wedding anniversary dinner, I didn’t want to make a big deal of things. It won’t stop us from coming back, but I will be much more vocal in my displeasure if the food is of the same quality as this time.
Steak & shrimp was $39. Steak was dry like really dry and very small for the proce. 3 peices of shrimp not deveined. We had a side of asparagus $8 which was burnt and slightly flavorless. The dessert was ok it was the apple walnut pie. The pastry was undercooked. Overall wasnt worth the money. Overpriced wanna be fancy. Sadly Could have gotten a nicer steak at ruby tuesdays.
Over many other options we reserved seats for our first Valentine’s Day and planned proposal. I requested a quiet booth or seating for this most special occasion. I had no expectation of a private room but certainly a quaint booth as advertised. We drive 3 .5 hours one way for this evening.
We were seated in the middle of the dining area, close to the kitchen where staff came by constantly to serve others. The kitchen noise and continual interruptions totally spoiled the plans for a romantic dinner !
Wife and daughter ordered filet mignon. Both steaks came to the table under cooked so they were sent back. The steaks returned over cooked and chewy. No flavor at all....I tried both myself. I can do better in my backyard. Heck, Outback is even better. For a meal that cost $200, I expect much better. The Imported Salmon I had was Outstanding. Wife not happy, husband not happy. Wished it had been a better expirence.
We went out for dinner as a family, and they had Scottish salmon highlighted on the menu (flown in the night before). My son and I love salmon and we were eager to try it, and even mentioned to the waitress that we prefer it cooked medium to medium rare. Out of four fish dinners, three were seriously over cooked, including the salmon (which was 3 ounces at best). Hugely disappointing, and we will definitely not go back.
A visit to M&S is always a pleasure. The menu varies seasonally, so there's no such thing as a "rut" in terms of selection. There are standard favorites featured year round, and the steaks and seafood are always fresh, delectable, delicious, perfectly prepared and presented. One of my particular favorites is their selection of oysters, and there was a newly-added one on this visit, and my server described it enticingly enough that I had to try this new selection, and it was superb.
I'll be back again, and soon.
We were celebrating our 21st. Anniversary. The hostess, the server and the chef made this a memorable occassion. The food, was fantastic, the server was extremely attentive, the fantastic dessert on the restaurant, was wonderful, and the little touches added up to a special night.
this is a nice restaurant in the Towne Center area of Virginia Beach ... we had a nice evening, nothing special either good or bad. Started with a very good crab dip appetizer, then a just ok she crab soup. I ordered the salmon special for dinner which was interestingly prepared with beets, but the salmon was overcooked and quite dry. Service was spotty, and the ill-behaved child a couple tables over didn't help.
Food and dining experience was excellent. Arrived about 15 mins early for our reservation and even though the restaurant was relatively empty we were made to wait at the bar until our reservation time. Appeared to be a ploy to entice our party to buy drinks in the bar rather than be seated right away. Did not take away from the evening, just a bit curious.
I have dined at McCormick & Schmick's restaurants in Seattle, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Virginia Beach since the mid 1980s. The food, service and ambiance have always been legendary. Overall, our group had a fine time and a good meal. I had the seared Ahi tuna, which was to be served on wasabi mashed potatoes. There was no hint of wasabi flavor or heat in my potatoes, but I must note the tuna was excellent. Our server was polite, friendly and very attentive initially, but disappeared during the main meal, even though several of us were in need of water refills. I was the only one somewhat disappointed in my meal, but our whole party felt somewhat overlooked by the server for a good stretch. We were also seated near an entrance to the kitchen, and the staff seemed to have more than a few dropped/broken dishes and glasses during our meal.
All that said, we had a good time and came away satisfied. All my previous experiences with M&S were, however, better than this one. I still would recommend this restaurant, preferring to think this was an isolated incident.
The ambiance was relaxing and inviting. Was disappointed because I made a reservation and I still had to wait 10mins for my table to be ready. Not even sure why I had to wait when I saw at least 10 tables not being used at all. Was definitely not impressed with the food. Rice and veggies were bland. Sausage in the macaroni and cheese tasted like bologna. For this being a seafood restaurant I didnt think the size of the shrimps in the pasta even belonged in the building. Just my experience, others may like it but it just wasn't my style. My waitress was great though. Staff is definitely friendly and attentive.
My girlfriend and I decided to go out to a nice place to eat for New Years Eve and we were not at all let down by McCormick & Schmick’s. We made reservations and requested a booth and the staff was able to fulfill that request which really enhanced the experience. Our server was amazing, making sure that everything we had was fresh and cooked to satisfaction! The steak was great and the chicken was awesome! Overall it was a great dinner to bring in the New Year, we will definitely be coming back to this place!
Visited on New Years Eve. Had a reservation so only had time to order drinks at the bar and was seated. Waitress was very friendly. Ordered the she crab soup which was excellent. Party had stuffed shrimp, salmon, trout. All fish was done very well. The highlight of the evening was the chocolate bag dessert. Very decadent and enough for 3 to share. Overall, a very nice dinner with family.
The food, atmosphere and martinis were all awesome. Our waiter, P-Town Shawn was the bomb. He made sure our every need & want was satisfied. We will definitely ask for him during our next visit.
Your traditional personalized menu is still a very much appreciated nice touch.
One suggestion though, this is the first raw bar experience I had were the oysters on a half shell were served still attached to the shell. Wouldn't have been an issue had we had something other than a butter knife or they were cut from the stem before serving.
An overall outstanding experience that was the highlight of our 35th anniversary. Thank You
