McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Troy Ratings and Reviews
went for a special birthday dinner for my boyfriend..
they were out of their signature ahi which i thought was strange. the food was overall really good but service seemed really slow. the restaurant was nearly empty and it took forever to get our drinks, our second drink took even longer. our waiter was attentive and constantly refilling our waters, so i don’t think this was necessarily his fault. i would come back again but hopefully the service is sped up. we were in the restaurant for nearly two hours. was sort of bummed they didn’t offer anything special for my boyfriends birthday either.
we had a party of three and the food was good, but for what the price I paid I felt the quality should have been a lot better. The bread was never refilled and to only have one side with a meal and to be charged for a salad, which I felt should have been part of the meal. We saw a bus boy pacing back and forth like he was ready to leave. I asked the waitress what time you closed and she said 9. Which ended our experience. I have never seen a nice restaurant close that early. I felt way overpriced for the quality.
We went for NYE 12/31/2017. Made reservations for 8:15PM. Finally got sat at 8:45PM. Ordered mahi-mahi, got three pieces of "fish stick" like. our server was not attentive. I definitely understand a busy environment BUT when you go to a "fancier" restaurant you expect better service.
Thankfully the manager refunded my mahi-mahi dish but I do not recommend. Ariana was our server and we usually tip well but her apathetic attitude was not good. Disappointed in the service and food. The other server was speaking very loudly stating that they are out of a lot of food. Should of prepared better?
Nice New Years Eve dinner with friends. It was a bit louder than normal - we prefer the booths over the open dinning area. Highly suggest you request a booth when you make your reservations. We did have an issue with a delay in having our meal served - the kitchen ran out of mashed potatoes!!! You would think that on a busy night they would have been on top of the quantities they needed at the ready............I'm sure they know how many meals they normally serve on NYE and how many of them have mashed potatoes in them.
Our server was excellent! But it took almost an hour for our food to get to the table. I have to say that it was New Year's Eve though.
I have been here before and I would go back. The menu choices are very good. And there's a good selection for all tastes, and all budgets. I recommend this business without hesitation.
It was New Year's Eve and it had been a long time since we visited ..so we made early reservations so we could enjoy our dinner. We were greeted very quickly, taken to our table and then greeted again by Neil, our server. We started with the Calamari and then ordered our dinner. We had a Chesapeake Buttermilk Shrimp dinner, a Crab and Shrimp Stuffed Salmon dinner, and a Pretzel Crusted Whitefish dinner. I had the Seasonal Cheesecake . All of our meals were outstanding, delicious and the presentation was beautiful.
We are happy we tried McCormick and Schmick's again.
The service was great, and it was nice to have hostesses that seemed to have something between their ears.
The atmosphere was reserved, which we like. A conversation can be had without having to talk above the music or other patrons.
The food...my wife had the blackened chicken fettuccini and that was delicious, a great blend of flavors. I had the beef medallions, and they were less than impressive. There was no flavor to them, and they were very tough, the cut was just too lean. The positive to my meal was that the beef was cooked to medium as requested ( I was able to salvage it with some salt and pepper...), and the spinach and mushrooms were done well together.
There was no "experience" at McCormick and Schmick. We sat in a booth for 20 minutes without a soul even bringing water. This was not a first at that restaurant. We only went because we had a gift card for Landry restaurants.
They should either close or bring in new management. We left and went to Morton's Steak House (another Landry property) and the food and service were great (and without a reservation).
I ordered Alaskan King Crab Legs - $39. I received a half dozen small, front legs, barely warm. No candle-heated set up to keep bitter warm. Meet in legs didn’t pull out easily. Meat was stringy - as if they were thawed before cooking. Basically I ate a pile of crab leg meat shreddings- not the kind of crab legs I expect from a high end seafood restaurant. Cocktails were good. Service was fine.
We do a family dinner every year for New Year’s celebration. At first we got a nice table in the cubby which was private. We ordered oyster Rockefeller that came out and it was room temp. Then a couple of us ordered soup and you could tell it had been sitting out because there was a film on the top of the soup. A couple of us ordered salads and we’re waiting on those when our dinner arrived. So we never got our salads. Three of us ordered their stuffed salmon which was a chef special to have to send them back because they were lukewarm and the mashed potatoes were actually cold. The other person didn’t want to waste the time sending it back because we were frustrated. They comped our dessert which I guess was nice, but for how much money it costs, I would rather have paid for dessert and have an excellent hot meal than a Luke warm meal with missing salads.
I realize we live in the 21st century and things are much more costly than they were 20 years ago. That being said I still found that it was much more pricey than I expected. There was hardly a menu item under $30. The ambiance was outstanding but the cost of dining was just too much. For a party of four ordering one drink each, to have my bill exceed $50 per person was a disappointment. Oh yes, we did not have dessert.
My wife & I took our 4 kids (ages 13-20) here after seeing a Christmas play together at Meadowbrook Theater -- it was our first time here and we would definitely go back. The holiday ambiance added to this wonderful end to a fun family evening. We had our own very private booth so could celebrate heartily without bothering anyone nearby.
All the food & drink was outstanding, from the appetizers to the main fare through to the desserts -- everything from New England Clam chowder to filet mignon with asparagus & garlic mashed potatoes to New York strip steaks with truffle butter paired with full-bodied Meiomi pinot noir and Joseph Carr cabernet sauvignon wines for mom & dad. Finished with shared chocolate silk pie and a kind of specialty chocolate brownie. Incredible!
Always loved this place but all 5 of us agreed - never again. Waiter was in his own world. Inattentive, we had to keep calling him back. One lunch was a salad with shrimp. Came without the shrimp. She asked for the grilled shrimp - the rest of us ate as slowly as possible, but we finished our meals before her shrimp arrived. And by this point, most of the restaurant was emptied, so the kitchen should not have been too busy. Another ordered the trout on the waiters' recommendation. It seemed to have absolutely no seasoning - no flavor - same with the green beans. I was not advised that my Arnold Palmer didn't have free refills. We opted to share a silk pie dessert - it arrived and half the bottom crust was missing. Not a properly sliced piece. We did complain and received another piece, but, still, that took a very long time. My salad and soup came out at the same time - weird. Someone who we thought was the manager walked by repeatedly but never stopped by our table to see how things were. Good thing we had good conversation going, but for a holiday luncheon we were all disappointed in the restaurant. Again, this is the first time I wasn't completely satisfied, and for it go wrong on so many levels - very disappointing.
Salads were good but the fish was mediocre at best . The lobster tail was tiny (probably fresh water crayfish ) and the Chef Special Mahi Mahi was terrible, not fresh and should never have been offered as a special. Ordered a Stella first one came in the chalis next in a warm pint glass, not the way you should serve Stella. When charge $30+ for entrees they should be better than Red Lobster!! Will not be back!!
