McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Troy Ratings and Reviews
fish dishes were excellent but the service and salads were terrible. Mike our waiter took our drink order, brought my wife her diet coke and said he was waiting on bartender for my cocktail. left than came back later to tell me he was still waiting. We asked him if we could place our orders and he said sure. We placed orders and wife mentioned the coke was flat he said sorry. 15 min later salads came and I asked where my drink was and he said he was waiting on it. He brought drinks that were ordered after mine to another table. We waved him over to tell him the salads were terrible soggy and seemed like nothing but vinegar. All he said was sorry and took them away. I asked about my drink and he said you wont have to pay for it. Asked if we could have bread and he said ok. Our dinner was delivered and had to ask about my drink and bread. He was out of sight for the longest time than brought my drink with a second round for the other table. I asked where was the bread and he said he would go get some. Meanwhile we were almost done with our fish. Bread finally came at end of meal. The manager walked by numerous times and never said a word.Though the fish was outstanding we wont be coming back as the service was terrible and except for a free drink and a couple of sorry s nothing was truly addressed about our experience.
This time we were out on the floor which is nice. But, for a more private experience request one of their private booths. They are spacious with lots of nicely crafted wood surrounding you. They are actually not booth seating just regular tables set inside of these miniature rooms. Seats 6 comfortable. We love them. The food and service has always been great.
I really enjoyed the food there! My waiter Brandon was amazing and the ambiance was good. Even though we showed up 2 minuted before closing on Valentine’s they were very happy to still have us. The food was delicious though. The soup had a little too much alcohol for my taste lol but other that everything was outstanding
Steak was not cooked correctly the first time. When I pay almost $40 for a steak, I anticipate that it will be cooked correctly. I also do not expect the waiter to ask me to cut into it right away while he is at the table. That happens at cheap steak restaurants. I would hope that an establishment like this might let me sit with my plate when it arrives for a moment and then have the waitstaff come by asking if everything was cooked to my liking. When I have to cut into my first steak right away with someone watching over my shoulder, it ruins my dining experience. I'm focused on the fact that you are anticipating that you might get this wrong.
While the second steak was cooked more closely to medium rare, it was not rested properly and was very tough. It also took way too long to arrive at the table. My wife was almost finished with her meal by that time. My wife's salmon was little overcooked. For a place that specializes in steak and seafood, this is not acceptable.
The service was really slow all night even though the restaurant was not very busy. The waiter was nice, but the overall experience was not something that I would recommend to anyone. We even had an unexpected charge (for a movie ticket that we never ordered) that needed to be corrected that night. I was very disappointed with my first experience here. At the present moment, I'm not thinking that I'd try it again.
When I arrived home, I received an email from OpenTable that I had not kept my reservation. Despite giving my name to the host when I arrived at the restaurant and telling him that I had a reservation, he never recorded it. This may have been due in part to the reality that there was no one at the host stand to greet customers as they arrived that night so I waited several minutes before someone came to greet me. I had to call the restaurant to clear up the mistake with Open Table on their part.
The atmosphere was AMAZING!! They sat us in a booth area and made it feel like it was just us and our family. The waitress did a great job! They have a great selection on the menu. We did not have to wait long for our dinners. The food is outstanding. I will definately be back there again.
We were delightfully greeted and promptly seated in the stately, peaceful dining room. All was looking good, until our waiter arrived. He was friendly and upbeat, but made many errors throughout the course of our meal. He did not seem to be overworked- just unsuited to the job. Simple questions about the menu were answered incorrectly and drinks were forgotten. Worse yet, my food was not anything special. My asparagus was limp, the blue cheese mash was bland and my medium filet had no hint of pink. The stuffed salmon, however, was said to be delicious.
We had a wonderful time with old friends and were grateful we were not hurried, but we would not recommend or return.
The food was really terrible. The shrimp cocktail had 5 dry, previously frozen shrimp - a stretch for the price. The swordfish was very salty and the whitefish was so dry we couldn’t eat it. The server was fine, but the manager didn’t seem interested in actually handling the situation - he was quick to walk away. It’s hard to believe they get away charging prices for little quality.
It was the worst meal we ever had. The shrimp undercooked..the scallops overdone...$10 for 1? Ridiculous..we thought we would give it another try. I am not sure why though...because the last time we dined there...was horrible as well..Still left the waiter a tip, pretty good one at that..he proceeded to come out side after us..very unacceptable! Not that it probably matters, I sent a message about that incident...no one responded. I will let others know as well, if they ask me about the place. A lot of money we spent.. only good thing about the experience was the young lady at the front desk.
The food was good but nothing to rave about.....a little on the bland side. I had the scallops and they were just a touch overdone. The gentleman I was with had the Parmesan encrusted flounder. Though tasty, he complained of not being able to taste the fish at all. The best part of the meal was the crab stuffed mushrooms that we ordered for an appetizer. The sauce was excellent. As far as the Service, Michael was wonderful. We would ask for him again.
Our last three visits were disappointing but we gave this place one last try. Well nothing has changed and it is very clear the restaurant is struggling. The food quantity and quality has degraded and isn’t worthwhile going there anymore. Many other seafood choices around town. Examples: Food is loaded with butter and sodium. Beans although crunchy but all you taste is butter and salt. Seafood Trio $30 include 5 small to medium shrimp and a small and I mean small piece of salmon. Probably $5 worth of fish. Obviously the restaurant is struggling and cutting quality and quality isn’t going to help the situation.
went for a special birthday dinner for my boyfriend..
they were out of their signature ahi which i thought was strange. the food was overall really good but service seemed really slow. the restaurant was nearly empty and it took forever to get our drinks, our second drink took even longer. our waiter was attentive and constantly refilling our waters, so i don’t think this was necessarily his fault. i would come back again but hopefully the service is sped up. we were in the restaurant for nearly two hours. was sort of bummed they didn’t offer anything special for my boyfriends birthday either.
we had a party of three and the food was good, but for what the price I paid I felt the quality should have been a lot better. The bread was never refilled and to only have one side with a meal and to be charged for a salad, which I felt should have been part of the meal. We saw a bus boy pacing back and forth like he was ready to leave. I asked the waitress what time you closed and she said 9. Which ended our experience. I have never seen a nice restaurant close that early. I felt way overpriced for the quality.
We went for NYE 12/31/2017. Made reservations for 8:15PM. Finally got sat at 8:45PM. Ordered mahi-mahi, got three pieces of "fish stick" like. our server was not attentive. I definitely understand a busy environment BUT when you go to a "fancier" restaurant you expect better service.
Thankfully the manager refunded my mahi-mahi dish but I do not recommend. Ariana was our server and we usually tip well but her apathetic attitude was not good. Disappointed in the service and food. The other server was speaking very loudly stating that they are out of a lot of food. Should of prepared better?
Nice New Years Eve dinner with friends. It was a bit louder than normal - we prefer the booths over the open dinning area. Highly suggest you request a booth when you make your reservations. We did have an issue with a delay in having our meal served - the kitchen ran out of mashed potatoes!!! You would think that on a busy night they would have been on top of the quantities they needed at the ready............I'm sure they know how many meals they normally serve on NYE and how many of them have mashed potatoes in them.
Our server was excellent! But it took almost an hour for our food to get to the table. I have to say that it was New Year's Eve though.
I have been here before and I would go back. The menu choices are very good. And there's a good selection for all tastes, and all budgets. I recommend this business without hesitation.
It was New Year's Eve and it had been a long time since we visited ..so we made early reservations so we could enjoy our dinner. We were greeted very quickly, taken to our table and then greeted again by Neil, our server. We started with the Calamari and then ordered our dinner. We had a Chesapeake Buttermilk Shrimp dinner, a Crab and Shrimp Stuffed Salmon dinner, and a Pretzel Crusted Whitefish dinner. I had the Seasonal Cheesecake . All of our meals were outstanding, delicious and the presentation was beautiful.
We are happy we tried McCormick and Schmick's again.
