McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - St. Louis Ratings and Reviews
The service was excellent. The food however was fair at best. The roasted vegetables were not roasted and were hard and tasteless. The seafood entrees were average to poor in taste. The prices were exorbitant for the quality of the food served. Overall we were extremely disappointed in our experience at this restaurant.
McCormick & Schmick's has a nice seafood selection. Our entrees tasted very good. Fish portions could have been better for the money, but appetizer and salads were fine. Competition in the seafood department is Bristol's and 801 Fish, they're still behind them, but regardless, we'll go back.
I have eaten here quite a few times over the years at this location, and recently I have noticed that the portion sizes have gone down significantly without a reduction in prices the food quality is excellent still, and the service is as well. I just wish they didn't start cutting corners.
Specialty drinks were tasty and generous. Appetizer, Shrimp Kisses was excellent. Entre's (Blackened Salamon and Sea Scallops) were very good, though the green bean side was just a bit too crunchy. The additional side of asperagus was top notch. I would go again and try other items. Service staff seemed weary, though polite.
We went for the West County restaurant week and it was terrible. Service was very lacking. The waiter never checked on us to see how our food was. He did take care of our drinks but that's about it. We did make a suggestion that the tuna tartare should be served with the horseradish sauce on the side because it was way too overpowering and possibly had too much on it since it was mixed tableside. Less is definitely more when it comes to horseradish. We ordered the cod and the beef medallions. The beef came with some type of fries and the fish came with seasoned potatoes and fall vegetables. We both asked to sub spinach and the waiter said it was fine, but later we found out there was an upcharge ($5 each) for this which he never mentioned so that was an extra $10 for our bill that we did not expect. He brought both dishes with just the spinach even though I had asked to sub for just the potatoes. He did bring out the fall vegetables but half of these were also potatoes. The food was mediocre at best with the cod being a little better than the beef. The spinach was way over-salted and we informed the waiter of that, but just as he did with the suggestion on the tuna, he didn't seem to care. I would not recommend anyone going to this restaurant at least in the St. Louis area. Maybe other cities are better, but the restaurant was not busy at all so the waiter should have been on top of his game.
Heirloom salad and salmon? Tasty.
Disorganized service that took 2 1/2 hours for our meal, along with someone at our table who had digestive issues after eating there? No thanks.
The manager was responsive and professional, but will most likely still choose another spot for our next dinner.
Great service. Great food. Great value. Will return. Early business lunch on a weekday. Only one other party in the place. We were seated right next to them. Inexperienced host? I really had to dig to come up with that petty complaint. Great overall. Recommend a visit.
The restaurant itself is great, quiet, clean, the food is always good.
But what made our experience negative was the waitress Tia. Our office was there for a business lunch and from the time we walked in and she greeted us til the time we left she didn't seem welcoming at all. No smile they whole time. She forgot a few things to bring when we asked, she forgot to take appetizer plates away and when we asked her to take them she grabbed them roughly and almost tossed them on another table that needed to be cleaned.
We understand people are not perfect and have bad days but in this service based industry you need to be on top of your stuff. It's a bad reflection on the restaurant when your employees treat their customers like they hate their job. But it was a good example for our office on what not to do. We are a customer service based office and could never treat patients like that . We wouldn't have any.
This birthday dinner was hosted for my wife and me by great friends. As soon as we walked in the host greeted me with birthday wishes as did our waiter, Gavin. The wait staff was attentive and very gracious. All of us enjoyed our food. I had the Isle salmon. Very good. We ordered a bottle of Jordan Cabernet. Not that good and too expensive.
It was a good welcoming feeling. We would all go back and will.
