McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - St. Louis Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed in the quality of the food on this visit. Not normally the case. Lobster bisque soup was extremely salty. Mussels were dry, salmon was undercooked, pasta was crunchy and crab legs seemed to have been heated up vs freshly prepared. About the only food that was fine was the New England Clam Chowder. Been coming in annually near Valentine's Day the last 5 years. Might just have been a bad night. Server was great though. No problems there.
I took my girlfriend here for a surprise birthday dinner and the food was delicious. A bit pricy but that’s to expect when dining at a speciality restaurant. About five hours after I ate dinner I became violently ill and was sick throughout the whole night. I did contact the restaurant and they took my name and number and apologized. I work in the food business and I think I would’ve taken my report a little more serious. It was my first and last time at this restaurant.
The food was really great. I usually visit J.Gilberts and Bristols for the grilled salmon. And I would come here for the fried shrimp. But, I tried the grilled salmon at McCormick & Schmick's restaurant and have been eating it here at least three times a month.
So, this visit I got a new waitress and she charged me $7.00 additional for the spinach and the broccolini. I was a little disturbed because I usually substitute the spinach for the green beans and the broccolini for the mashed potatoes. This is one of the reasons I labeled this restaurant as a healthy location.
The manager stated that I would have to pay the additional charges next time. I could understand that perhaps the cost of the broccolini maybe a bit more but the spinach. As a result I have not returned to the restaurant especially when I can go to J.Gilberts and not have the additional expense.
Should the cost be deducted from the tip or should I just not go back. I really thought this was absurd considering that both of the guests is a Landry's Select Club member.
Soup was great, wedge salad was just ok. Flounder was bland.crab cakes were missing the corn salsa. Waiter lost our order and it made our meal take an extra hour. When we told him the salsa was missing, he said the kitchen was out. How do you run out of corn salsa? Bad experience in a formerly good restaurant.
They over booked on Valentine’s Day and ruined our experience. We have always gone there on special occasions, but they took us for granted on this occasion and made us wait after we used the Open Table App to make a reservation. We will not go back and will not use the Open Table App again, as restaurants do not honor the reservations made with it.
My husband and I attempted to celebrate Valentines Day! Upon arrival we learned that our 8:00 o'clock reservation would NOT be honored at that time but DELAYED 30-40 minutes. When we finally were seated at 8:55 we sat at our table for the better part of 15 minutes without a drop of water or a greeting from our server. Not to mention the table set up is very confusing and not at all a relaxing environment as tables are on top of each other. Finally after 30 plus minutes my request for water was fulfilled. We placed and appetizer order and after another INORDINATE amount of time we left! Now its 9:20 on Valentines Day with NO other reservation.... We live in a place where there is a plethora of options so we walked next door to J Gilberts and had an amazing meal. The ambiance blew away McCormick & Schmick's and once we shared our tales of next door the server brought us not only water but an appetizer on her! We will for sure going back to J Gilberts again for a fantastic meal so I guess thank you to McCormick & Schmick's for the dreadful experience we never would have gone to J Gilberts had that not happened. Wow
For Valentine’s dinner, we ordered just about everything that appealed to us - salad, shrimp kisses, steak, lobster tail, king crab, crab cakes, and drinks. The food was outstanding! Our server, although enthusiastic, wasn’t often around but he seemed newer and the night was busy. If you love steak and seafood, they do a great job here!
Valentines is a special day for us, since it is the anniversary of our engagement. We have always had exceptional service here and the food has always been wonderful. Even on a busy night, like tonight, everything went smoothly. When dining here, we always top off our meal with the upside down apple pie. It is to die for.
This is the second location I’ve visited. The first being the location on the plaza in Kansas City. Was instantly one of my favorite restaurants of all time. This location unfortunately is no where near the quality food, environment, or fresh menu the other has. I have within the last year moved to the St Louis area and once I found this I immediately reserved a table. At $50 a plate you’d think they would be better. Left disappointed with the experience. Service was above average. Food and environment was subpar.
Maybe if I tried this one without already visiting the others I would’ve enjoyed it more.
I took my Father out to dinner to celebrate his 86th Birthday. He wanted to go to McCormick & Schmick’s because he said they have the best Seafood in town. Dad ordered oysters on the half shell and the waiter was very knowledgeable about which kind of oysters to select. I ordered clam chowder for my appetizer. Dad ordered hot tea to drink and I ordered decaf coffee and cream. It took a little longer than we expected for the beverages and appetizers to arrive, but it was all excellent and the main course showed up with perfect timing after we finished the appetizers. Refills of our beverages was very timely and the waiter asked us how we were doing and if we needed anything else. I ordered a wonderful dessert which I shared with my dad, and I had the remainder of my dinner boxed to take with me. All went very well.
I went for Brunch at 12:15 PM on a Saturday. Spent $80 on me and a friend. Not worth it. Crab cake was luke warm, burger was not seasoned enough. For it's notoriety and expensive menu I assumed it would be a delicious experience. That it was not. Decor is beautiful and service (Zach) was great. Would not recommend.
Our server Tim was just simply excellent. Admitted that he was just starting to get into wine but both wines that my girlfriend and I ordered, he had tried and recommended highly. We were not disappointed. The food here is remarkable. Pricey but when you recieve this great of service and when the place has the food to back it up, its all worth it.
Highly recommend! Ask for Tim!
Sides served to wrong table, had to be redone and arrived when almost done with meal, mashed potato side was cold when finally arrived and had to be sent back, drink service very poor, water finally served after appetizer arrived, no bread served with salad while others tables had bread, offered a free dessert to compensate and then bill had to be redone because charged for dessert.
I brought my fiance here for his birthday. It was a Sunday night which usually provides a peaceful ambiance. We come every year for his birthday and again were not disappointed. Rico was our waiter and he was wonderful; friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and did a great job taking care of us. We started with a glass of red wine for myself and the M&S Ice Tea for him. Both were delicious and went well with our meal. We ordered the shrimp kisses as an appetizer which were very good. We each had soup. His was the clam chowder which he always enjoys because of the large pieces of clams, and I tried the lobster bisque for the first time. It was incredible. Large chunks of lobster and very creamy. I have had some at other restaurants in the area where you hardly receive any lobster. We split an entree of the lump crab stuffed shrimp and everything was completely wonderful. The mashed potatoes have a silky texture and a wonderful flavor. As if we weren't already going to pop we then received two desserts, the chocolate cake and the creme brulee. Although we were stuffed to the max, we still made an effort to eat as much of these as possible as they were very good. Yes, the restaurant is a little more expensive, which is why we enjoy going for special occasions, but in our opinion it is completely worth it and we will continue to go.
Great table side service but waited 20 minutes to be seated even with a reservation for 2. Waiter was fun and informative as should be expected for the price of the dinner/drinks but again waited another 10 minutes to be greeted at the table. Still no big deal as we were in no hurry for our night out. In the meantime the absolute noise of restaurant meant this was no place for a quiet dining experience. We ordered drinks and the oysters Rockefeller that is a top of the menu staple. 4 oysters for $16! They must be good was our thought. When we received the little fellas they were the size of a river mussel and burnt. The worst oyster Rockefeller I have ever had. The calamari was decent tho. Wife ordered the waiter recommended tuna and I had a filet n lobster tail. Both were good but for 50+ dollars for a 6oz steak and "baby" lobster tail with a couple of burnt asparagus stalks I was disappointed at best. Wife did enjoy their tuna. Very good apple pie desert and the drinks were elegantly glassed. For a grand finale the waiter presented us with some corporate driven sales pitch for a credit line type discount which was very off putting especially after a lack luster dining experience. Overall $225 for a fair tip to a good waiter but the dinner was mediocre at best and a waste of money at worst. Unfortunately our excitement for a good seafood dinner date left us grossly dissatisfied and we are unable to recommend this night out to anyone.
I had the stuffed salmon. It was tender and flavorful and pricey. The service was great. We were checked on frequently and drinks filled as needed. Only complaint is the air conditioning was on in January. I guess when you have really good service the staff gets overheated running around tending to everyone. I will definitely return even though it is one of the most expensive lunches I’ve had in a long time.
Service was very slow even though very few people were in the restaurant. Server did an okjob. She did not appear to be the problem. Food was good. Pretty much a seafood place which is fine. Thats why I go there. The oysters Rockefeller were very good and my ono ws quite good and a very generous portion. My wife got fish and chips which were good. We shared a bottle of wine which was pretty good.
Our waiter was forgetful. He also spoke so highly of the steak special. He sold it so well that seven people ordered it. He then came back to tell us there was only one left. We waited very long just to place our order because he was dealing with other tables and not even worrying about us. It was an awful experience
This is the third time I have been there and the service is consistently horrible. Our food came and our friend’s Steak was not prepared as he ordered it and the server never came back to check on us. After we were all done eating, we had to get the water guy to get our waiter.
I had the surf and turf and the lobster had no taste and the tenderloins were over cooked.
