McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - St. Louis Ratings and Reviews
This is the third time I have been there and the service is consistently horrible. Our food came and our friend’s Steak was not prepared as he ordered it and the server never came back to check on us. After we were all done eating, we had to get the water guy to get our waiter.
I had the surf and turf and the lobster had no taste and the tenderloins were over cooked.
Waited 15 minutes for hostess (restaurant was empty). Server finally seated us. Waited 15 minutes for Water. Server was very nice and knew menu very well, however, we waited for 20 minutes for our check and had to flag down another server. Again server was so nice, but we had to get our kids and needed to get check and go. We sat with our coats on waiting and no one even noticed. Chowder was amazing. Stuffed shrimp was good. Everything else was sub par. Disappointed as worst dinner I’ve had given our expectations were higher based on reviews.
We arrived for a 7:00 reservation at 6:53 and were told that we would be seated closer to 7:00. We were seated at 7:05. We had to wait 10 minutes before we were greeted and water was filled. We had to wait another 10 minutes before any drink orders were taken. Another 5 minutes passed and the food orders were taken without drinks being served. Lobster bisque was served slightly warmer than room temperature. Other than that food was just ok and not worth the exalted price. We will never be back.
My wife & I were very happy with the service and the quality of food. What I found to be unacceptable was the the fact that my wife drinks Jack Daniels and water and the restrauant was out of Jack Daniels. Jack Daniels is not a speciality liqueur, and the person who orders the liqueur should be held accountable. The restrauant lost a drink order that night.
Excellent seafood offerings. Lobster bisque warms and satisfies on cold winter evening. It's unfair to judge any restaurant on New Year's Eve when they are heavily booked and every server is maxed out all night long, but we all had a delicious meal without feeling rushed. My only complaint was that we couldn't hear the background music, just a heavy bass line.
Our table was ready on time. We were greeted promptly and escorted to our table by a pleasant young lady. It was New Years Eve but our server Tim greeted us promptly and was appropriately attentive throughout the evening. Menu prices were normal and not jacked up for New Years Eve.
McCormick & Schmick's West County is one of our first choices for special occasions. The seafood is excellent, the ambiance relaxing, the service impeccable and the parking convenient. Because of our experience here we seek out McCormick & Schmick's in other cities.
Everything was fine but I had to send my Steak back since it wasn’t cooked to medium. It was cooked medium rare. When I got it back, it was medium well but I ate it anyway. We had to ask for bread and water when we should have been given them without asking. The server was very nice but seemed new or overwhelmed since it was New Year’s Eve. All in all it was good but for the price, I expected better.
As the meal was Good ,the Serves was good, I PAID 15.00 for a 6oz. pour of the House wine! I'm sorry but 15.00? I could have gotten a bottle of wine as I had 3 glasses, not know this was the price for house wine. Very disappointed after that. Actual left a Bad Taste in my mouth!
I did not think this meal was a good value for the money. Prices were high and that is expected when ordering seafood, however, appetizer portions at entree prices are not appreciated. The oysters Rockefeller were excellent and the price was in reason considering the cost of oysters. The Ahi Tuna was a paltry portion that had my husband rummaging through the refigerator when we arrived home. The rice portion was ridiculous and insulting. It may have been a tablespoon and a half, no more. Instead of being a sticky sushi rice, it was hard and gummy. Pretty plate, but not satisfying for an entree.
My stuffed shrimp was dry and rubbery with very little sauce to give any flavor. The portions of green beans and red pepper and cheddar mashed potatoes were large, but bland.
This has been the third time we have visited this establishment and I doubt we will return. We have been to their restaurant in Kansas City, MO and always liked it.
Food was really good. Server gave incorrect change though. Sorry if you gave part of your tip to the company, but, I caught it .
Lobster bisque was probably the best I've had. However, the molten cake had no flow as it was overcooked by two minutes. Overall really good food though
Service was very slow. The tuna that was ordered rare was actually more than medium well. Waiter served it and had to be called back. When asked whether he considered it rare he said no it was not. But said wasn’t his fault he submitted order for rare. Sent back and had to ask the waiter to check after waiting too long. Not a good experience will not go back, which is a shame as have had good experiences there before.
What a disaster. We waited 20+ minutes beyond our reservation time in a packed foyer with no room in the bar. We arrived at our table and the waitress finally arrived to say they were out of a few things. They were out of more than a few things. They only had three fish available, very little seafood and no vegetables. They were clearly running out of lobster bisque because the tiny cup that arrived was half full and had a huge crouton taking up most of the bowl. The large wine cellar was empty except for the most expensive bottles. The excuse wAs they had a very good day, better than expected. Hmm, if you were fully booked with confirmed reservations and fully staffed, shouldn't your general manager have done a better job ordering food? My lobster tails were the size of large shrimp, cold and improperly cooked. The mash potatoes because nothing else was available were watery and tasteless. The creme brûlée tasted like they left out the flavoring, just egg and milk. And they apparently did not hire dishwashers as they were out of wine glasses and we had brought our own wine. The servers got to put up with the angry guests and the manager was no where to be found.
Will not return.
For the hype of this restaurant and some of the negative reviews I thought the bad reviews came from people with very high expectations. But after going I defiantly see what they are talking about. The food was just average and the service was below that. I don't think I will return to eat.
Extremely busy night and not enough help. Took over 30 minutes just to receive bread basket; main course was delivered half way through our salads as if they were rushing us; my dinner was wrong and the response to it was rude. When I asked about the problem with my plate the server then came by our table quickly, said they were totally out of scallops, didn't address the wrong vegetable on my plate, and then rushed off before I could speak. He left to get a glass if wine we ordered but then forgot my club soda and wasn't seen until it was time to sell us a dessert.
I am so very disappointed and feel the management did a poor job of staffing and/or accepting too many reservations. I know this restaurant has been around for awhile and should know how to handle being open on Christmas to make sure they provide a quality experience.
The server should have told me before my dinner was served that they were out of scallops, I then would have had the opportunity to change my order. Going out for an expensive dinner isn't something I can do often and I really felt cheated at Mccormick & Schmicks.
Had reservation. Took 15 minutes after reservation time to be seated (arrived 10 minutes early, so waited for 25 minutes despite reservation). Once seated, no service for 10-15 minutes. Apparently, server for table had a 12-top, so other server finally assigned to us. He was phenomenal. However, $30 ahi tuna was severely overcooked. Unlikely to return, as $180 tab was definitely not worth it, absent great service once it arrived.
The food was just ok, definitely not worth the cost. We felt like we were being rushed by the server, he took my husband's soup before he was even done and he kept rushing us when we said we needed time to look at the menu. He wasn't very personable and he made the experience unpleasant. This restaurant is very pricy and I don't mind paying when the food quality matches the price, I did not feel that this food matched the price... I would not recommend this restaurant to others.
The food and service was outstanding. It is expensive, but I expected that going in as this was a special occasion. If our party did not have an appetizer, or drinks or a shared dessert, the bill would obviously been less. Recommend saving room for the awesome "Chocolate Bag" dessert. It's the holiday season so it was fun to go to an upscale restaurant for a change!
