McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - St. Louis Ratings and Reviews
Despite the cold wind and a lobby area that could have been made available, we were forced to stand outside until after our reservation time. The dirty water glass, lack of sufficient service, and cold food did not add to a pleasurable experience. Considering this was a birthday celebration for my mother-in-law, I was fairly embarrassed.
Well my Alaskan King Crab was frozen in 4 spots and not completely steamed. Since it was my birthday and my wife and our two friends were there . . . I did not want to spoil my 70th Birthday special dinner . . . I was shocked . . . the chef screwed up . . . It will be some time before I come back !!!
We have been to location may times and had not problem with the service. This weekend I must say the service was less than spectacular. Our waiter was not focused and would forget special requests. I cannot say if he was new to the restaurant, had too many tables which he might have been responsible for, but there was just a general lack of enthusiasm for his job. This will not deter was from returning since the food is very good. But if lack of service becomes an ongoing issue, we will discontinue our patronage.
Eat here frequently and it's usually fantastic but this visit was a little disappointing. Although the restaurant was not busy it took a very long time for anyone to greet us and even give us water. A woman finally poured us water and then walked all over looking for our waiter. Drink orders took a long time and we didn't get the requested extra olives in the 1st or 2nd martini order.
Our dishes piled up and were not cleared in a timely manner which should be common practice in a nice restaurant like this.
The manager couldn't figure out how to use our Open Table gift certificate. After a wait they finally told us they would "comp" us $50 but were unable to redeem the gift card.
The food was delicious as always but the service was very disappointing.
Thanksgiving dinner was excellent, the best traditional Thanksgiving dinner I have had in a restaurant. My husbands trout was very good also. My sone enjoyed his Ahi tuna very much too. Lovely evening. The atmosphere was good. The noise level was not intense. Our server was attentive . Will return again.
Went for the Thanksgiving turkey special and came away with 5 different seafood meals. All were great. I had the AHI Tuna, perfectly cooked, light crust, large portion. Potatoes were slightly flavored with spices, also nice. The bread pudding is to die for (and also includes ice cream, good for two people). I would go there again when I'm back in St Louis.
The service was excellent. The food however was fair at best. The roasted vegetables were not roasted and were hard and tasteless. The seafood entrees were average to poor in taste. The prices were exorbitant for the quality of the food served. Overall we were extremely disappointed in our experience at this restaurant.
McCormick & Schmick's has a nice seafood selection. Our entrees tasted very good. Fish portions could have been better for the money, but appetizer and salads were fine. Competition in the seafood department is Bristol's and 801 Fish, they're still behind them, but regardless, we'll go back.
I have eaten here quite a few times over the years at this location, and recently I have noticed that the portion sizes have gone down significantly without a reduction in prices the food quality is excellent still, and the service is as well. I just wish they didn't start cutting corners.
Specialty drinks were tasty and generous. Appetizer, Shrimp Kisses was excellent. Entre's (Blackened Salamon and Sea Scallops) were very good, though the green bean side was just a bit too crunchy. The additional side of asperagus was top notch. I would go again and try other items. Service staff seemed weary, though polite.
We went for the West County restaurant week and it was terrible. Service was very lacking. The waiter never checked on us to see how our food was. He did take care of our drinks but that's about it. We did make a suggestion that the tuna tartare should be served with the horseradish sauce on the side because it was way too overpowering and possibly had too much on it since it was mixed tableside. Less is definitely more when it comes to horseradish. We ordered the cod and the beef medallions. The beef came with some type of fries and the fish came with seasoned potatoes and fall vegetables. We both asked to sub spinach and the waiter said it was fine, but later we found out there was an upcharge ($5 each) for this which he never mentioned so that was an extra $10 for our bill that we did not expect. He brought both dishes with just the spinach even though I had asked to sub for just the potatoes. He did bring out the fall vegetables but half of these were also potatoes. The food was mediocre at best with the cod being a little better than the beef. The spinach was way over-salted and we informed the waiter of that, but just as he did with the suggestion on the tuna, he didn't seem to care. I would not recommend anyone going to this restaurant at least in the St. Louis area. Maybe other cities are better, but the restaurant was not busy at all so the waiter should have been on top of his game.
Heirloom salad and salmon? Tasty.
Disorganized service that took 2 1/2 hours for our meal, along with someone at our table who had digestive issues after eating there? No thanks.
The manager was responsive and professional, but will most likely still choose another spot for our next dinner.
