We had a wonderful experience and meal at McCormick & Schmick's. The reservation time and subsequent requests were as we wanted.
The only surprise and disappointment was that the restaurant closed the next day!
Their ten year lease expired and they simply up and closed and moved out of St. Louis.
We will certainly go back to McCormick and Schmick's the next time we are in Chicago.
I was really disappointed. I had eaten at McCormick and Schmidts in Minneapolis and Chicago. Whenever we went, there was an extensive menu of seafood. I was shocked at last nights menu. It was mostly tuna, salmon and shrimp. Not the variety I had come to expect from this chain. And the food.........was ok. Nothing exceptional. Again, a disappointment.
Service was great! Our food was not up to par for the price we paid for it. The Crab legs were a little tough and the potatoes were barely edible as they were very dry and hard. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was very good and so was the Lobster Bisque.
The food was Delicious and so was the service. We went at 5:00 pm so it wasn't too crowded and the bar is set off to the side which is really a plus!
We enjoyed the evening and the food. It was very tasty
Food was just average. Salmon was not cooked thru as ordered and some of the fingerling potatoes were undercooked and not seasoned well.
Oysters were shucked and served poorly: not all were detached from the shell and there were shards of the shell in many of the muscles. 2 of the shells looked like they had been dropped on the floor. No liquor in any of the halfshells. Amateur hour at M&S.
Wedge salad was good and recommended Pinot Nior was tremendous. Good service.
Overall I’m never coming to this location again.
My boyfriend and I dined at McCormick & Schmick’s to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We went on Sunday so the restaurant was very quiet and not busy at all. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the manager was great (he stopped by our table three times to check on us!) Our only complaint was that even though the restaurant wasn’t busy...our waitress wasn’t very attentive to our table. It took 10-15 minutes after we had been seated to get our drinks and we ordered another round of drinks after our appetizer and we didn’t get them until half way through our entrees. Other than that everything was great! We’ll definitely be back!
The food was very good. The server Logan was very helpful with the menu. We'll be returning real soon. Keep up the good work.
Service was outstanding. Waitress's timing was right on. Lobster bisque was memorable.
This was our first time at the STL McCormick & Schmick's. Service was poor and the food was over-priced. We sat 10-15 minutes before being greeted by our server, even though the restaurant was not busy and there were several open tables. The food was OK, but as good as I would expect for the price. Overall, we were not impressed and will not be back.
Every dish that we had was outstanding! They seated us in a separate booth, even though there were only two of us. Manager came by twice to make sure the food was prepared correctly. The only down part was the service. Took longer than we thought necessary to get our drinks originally, and dishes that we had completed stayed on the table even when other courses were served. We were charged for desserts from another table, which I had to catch. Should have suspected something as the waiter tried to bring us the wrong dessert originally.
Waiter was inattentive and seemed very rushed to get to his next table. Wife asked to substitute fingerling potatoes for cheddar mashed potatoes and we were informed “the kitchen wasn’t taking substations this evening”. I had the Mahi-mahi and I was a little taken back at the size, or lack there of. It couldn’t have been more than 4 oz. Food tasted good, but for the money we’ll probably head elsewhere for our seafood fix in The Lou.
Overall it was okay.
Service, food, and atmosphere were perfect! I came here to celebrate my two year anniversary, and they gave us a complimentary creme brûlée for that, which was incredible! We ordered the shrimp kisses for an appetizer, and I got the dry-rubbed 13 oz. Ribeye, which was cooked perfectly to order and packed with tenderness and flavour. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, and the whole experience of dining here was well worth the higher price.
My wife and I actually had reservations elsewhere but had changed due to the weather that evening (closer to home). I’m glad it worked out this way because we had a wonderful experience! My wife had the iceberg wedge salad and the 6 oz. filet mignon with asparagus. I had a half dozen Johnny oysters, the Maine lobster bisque, and the ahi tuna. We also had a bottle of Pinot Noir and the chocolate silk pie for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious. The waiter was professional, kind, and knowledgeable. The restaurant was charming and comfortable. I would absolutely return for a special occasion dinner.
A bit on the noisy side. Hard to hear any conversation with guest or staff. Great food.
First time and the food, service and ambiance was great. Great for a first date or special occasion.
Service was disorganized and took forever. Starting with a reservation made 2 weeks in advance but took 30 minutes to be seated, to a waiter who heard less than half of what we said when he did occasionally visit us, he was relived mid dinner by another waitress (who apologized for how long everything was taking and said dessert would be gratis as a result), then original waiter returned at end of dinner with a bill that included dessert.
My wife and I were there on St Valentine's Day, 7 PM reservations. In summary, M & S is a 'good' restaurant with 'great' restaurant prices. The service was excellent, the facility is clean, comfortable and reasonably quiet. The serving sizes are on the small end, which is not unusual for great restaurants. But the food was good, not great.
Just a heads up, we were very surprised they were out of a particular (albeit popular) desert. Seems very strange ... you would think they should know better on a big night for dining out.
Fish was over cooked. Waiter rarely came to table. He seemed distracted
Food was good; service was great; reservation was on time; and the "special" menu was very adequate. Ambiance of restaurant was also very good
We were seated and had to wait a little long for service. It is Valentine’s Day. Unsure if they over scheduled for 6:30. Once things had gotten caught Shelby, our server, did an admirable job. We all enjoyed our food. One of our parties’ portion was less than expected but the taste for all was exceptional. At some point in the evening the temperature outside dropped a lot and they did not adjust the temperature inside so the room was cold. In time they did make an adjustment and the room got warmer. Only complaint was slow service at start, running out of creme brûlée early in the evening and a cold room. Cost was what would be expected. We were able to hear ourselves talking without yelling so that is a plus. We will eat here again.
Started dinner with clam chowder and ceaser salad. Soup was creamy and upscale. Ceaser dressing was the extremely tasty and perfect amount of anchovy taste.
Entrees were Seafood Combination plate of grilled shrimp, lump crab stuffed shrimp and grilled salmon cooked to perfection. My entree was Seared Scallops and they were also seared to perfection. Dessert was White Chocolate mousse in a chocolate basket and fresh berries, delicious.
This was a wonderful dinner experience and we are planning to go back to try the steaks.
Very upscale food quality at an affordable price. I was extremely impressed with the ambiance and comfortable feeling of the establishment and the service was spot on. Server was professional yet personable. Attentive without being overly bothersome.
They gave us a special cake for our 25th engagement anniversary which took place in M and C Pasadena! Very nice of them!!!
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. Looking forward to our next visit.
Great attention to service. Great Valentine’s Day menu.
Great food and great service!
Just like other busy restaurants, I would eat early in the dinner hour when the wait staff have more time to serve you. The waitress's favorite on the menu was as delicious as expected, and not even the most expensive item on the menu!
We really enjoyed our lunch & had an amazing waiter. He was very knowledgeable & friendly. Our food was delicious & I also enjoyed having a coupon for a free appetizer. It was a chance to try something new.
The food was delicious and the servers were prompt and knowledgeable about the varied menu!
The waiter was inattentive and service very, very slow
A wonderful atmosphere with delicious seafood and steak, complemented with excellent service! Perfect for a romantic evening out.
We have been here before, but it had been a couple of years. Food was not good at all. steak and shrimp completely over-cooked. crab cakes were terrible, unfortunately. We had have great food here in the past, so we were surprised.
Service was outstanding. Rico was our server and he was great. We sat at the bar before going to our table and the bartender was great as well.
Wonderful!!! The food and service was superb!! We love this restaurant!!
It was a small wedding party and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything that we need. Food was excellent...compliments to the chef!
Our visit was for our anniversary dinner. The entrée was fairly bland and unimpressive. But the molten lava chocolate cake was amazing at the end! Service was impeccable and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and polite.
This was my third time visiting. The food was just okay
The Clam Chowder was awesome. Salad was great. This steak was very tender. Will come back!
