Food and appetizer was very good
Simple and small birthday gathering became a very enjoyable evening. Thank you for the delicious meals, all our orders were fantastic!
Outstanding food and service. An excellent restaurant and a consistently wonderful dining experience.
we had a very good service, but the food did not meet our expectations. my husband took sea bass, the taste of which was pretty plane and i had lobster tails dinner... lobster was horrible, it did not taste as a fresh lobster. it was hard to chew it... taste was pretty plane also. so i probably would recommend this place for the drink, because they have nice atmosphere, but not for the food... seafood and steak restaurant, must have best seafood. thats for sure.
Great food, great service!! Always love coming here!
My husband, son and I were looking forward to a fun evening out and are all fish fans. We had the opportunity to sit in one of their cozy private booths and really enjoy a delicious and well executed meal. Bonni, our waitperson is always friendly, engaged and focused on our having a great evening whenever we dine here. The Oysters Rockefeller were delicious and all of our entrees were fresh and delivered hot. A great place to gather over good food and wine.
There is nothing negative I can say about our visit. Hostess was prompt in seating us. The waitress was friendly and prompt in serving our needs. The bourbon salmon was outstanding. In fact my wife was still raving about the taste the following day. Definitely a place to go.
We had reservations at 4:00 but got to the restaurant early so we sat in the bar area. The bartender/waiter was excellent! Provided suggestions, made perfect cocktails and was so pleasant. The food was very good as well as the atmosphere. After a long day of shopping, this place is perfect to relax and have a nice leisurely dinner and cocktail!
After taking our order, waitress said she’d be back with fresh bread. She was nice but never came to check on us after the appetizer. She was in plain sight, attending to her other tables and either she couldn’t see me trying to get her attention or maybe just ignored me/us. We waited and waited and waited for that fresh bread. Not even a busser in sight. So we sat with no bread and no drink refills. And it took a while because there were 2 Well done steaks on our order, and you know how long that takes. Finally the host came and began clearing the appetizers. So I asked him, not realizing our food order was on a tray behind me, if we could get the bread and refills on the drinks. He served our food and when he asked if there was anything else, I smiled and I said just the bread and drinks please. Clearly he got upset when I said that and he felt the need to tell me he heard me the first time. What...did you think I’d forget...he said? I was taken aback by his attitude and response. How am I supposed to know he won’t forget it, when our own waitress apparently did. We go to restaurants like this one, expecting great service...not attitude when bad service is pointed out. Appetizers were good but the Salmon on my ultimate mixed grill was the size of my lipstick...literally. One bite and gone.
Excellent waitress. We began with martinis and a dozen blue point oysters. I followed that up with the cod and my friend had the trout. My cod was delicious; my friend's trout was a bit strong tasting, he said. We each had a nice dessert. My meal was excellent; my friend's main course was a little disappointing.
Much better since the first time we were there. Better selection, better tasting and reasonably priced. Service was very attentive.
Everything was excellent.
M&S food quality has gone down since we’ve been eating there over the years. For the price point we expect more.
Very slow food preparation. Server was attentive. Food was average at best for our entire group of 5. Many items were unavailable since supplies ran out.
Dined at the Skokie location for Christmas dinner on 12/25. Horribly short staffed, poorly bussed tables, long waits on drinks and service.
The food arrived quickly enough, but my steak had been off the grill for too long since it was not hot.
Our waiter was apologetic and took the cost of an appetizer off the bill. But, another staff member was rude to one of my guests when my guest tried to get to-go boxes.
Overall, a disappointing dinner.
If you’re going to be open for Christmas, make sure you have available staff and the right prep.
We enjoyed Christmas Day dinner - service was a little slow but friendly. Dining room was OK just a little crowded. Food was excellent.
Christmas Night : Reservation was made days before yet still sat in the dreaded over flow room. Reservations other than large tables should not be sat in over flow room. For those who don't know, the Over flow room is that oddly, nearly empty room with zero ambiance, several tables will not be bussed, your table will be haphazardly set, usually missing a setting and almost always without salt and pepper. Your waiter will have a station in main dining room so your table is extra for him so if he is awful and named Michael, he will whole heartedly give the least possible effort to serve you! He will assume that the check will be high enough that even with a 10% tip! he will do ok. Michael never greeted us, just poured water and mumbled something about drinks. There was no busboy in room at all! Water NEVER refilled, plates stacked by us waiting for removal . After food was served....luke warm....."server" checked back when nearly finished. NEVER asked us for another drink , when my husband brought it to his attention....Michael did not ask me if I wanted another drink. When I told him that I didn't receive my soup , all he said was.....oh you never got that.....and walked away. No apology. Had to request it be removed from check. Absolutely the worst service with mediocre food. I was a sever for more than two decades and I will normally give a sever the benefit of the doubt but not this guy! Michael is in the wrong line of work and quite frankly the management of that restaurant needs to be replaced as well! I could not wait to get out of there! I now deem thee Mc Crappits and Shmucks! There are many more restaurants that are much better than you! Good luck!
We had the RUDEST server. We went with two elderly patrons - and she rolled her eyes when one of them was trying to figure out what wine he wanted. Apparently he was taking too long to decide.
We complained to the manager and barely got an apology. We got a better server but it the service was incredibly slow. We were there for 2 hours! The food was sub par. Our daughter’s cheeseburger was so burnt that she couldn’t eat it.
We were only comped two cups of soup...pretty sad given how much money we spent. We won’t be going back again.
3pm Xmas day reservations. Seated immediately, steady business. Food (blue cheese wedge salad, coconut shrimp, mashed potatoes, bread pudding dessert) Yummy always good! Excellent outstanding service from our waiter Colin. Great holiday meal.
Very good meal. Only issue was had to remind them a few times it was my inlaws anniversary even though I told them when I made reservation.
This meal was very pleasant as we were set in a semi private area. Food was, as ordered, timely and abundant. The service was timely and courteous!
Our server was excellent our food was excellent no room for dessert.
This is the third time I have been to McCormick and Schmick’s. The two previous occasions were very good, but this experience was lackluster. My wife and I both ordered the filet, hers was the 6oz, and mine the 8oz. They were identical in size and mine was very much overdone for “medium” with no pink inside at all. I also ordered a lobster tail which was late getting out, dried out and not much bigger than my index finger. Our waitress was courteous and apologetic, but the tiny portions and over cooked food is unacceptable at this price point. Sorry to say, but I think I would have been better off at Red Lobster.
Good food, good service at reasonable prices. Definitely will return.
We had a horrible experience. We made a reservation because we were a party of nine and our table was not ready although the restaurant was completely empty. After we were finally seated it took forever to order drinks and food and just as long to receive it. We ordered fresh oysters that were bad so we sent them back. Four of the nine people ordered fried fish entrées, and only two of them had the same type of fried fish. Strange. Overall, the food was not very good nor was the service or our experience.
Excellent seafood from a wide selection. Prices are kind of high, though.
Very disappointing. Silverware and glasses were all dirty. Told the waiter and he blamed it on the dishwasher. I found the manager as I guessed the waiter didn't mention it to her. I was right. She did the same thing and blamed it on the dishwasher. I'm not looking for anything free but at least a "We're sorry it happened" would be nice. The GM was upstairs and I 'll bet no one told him either. I wasn't thrilled with the last time we went there either. This the second chance lunch. Too bad. This used to be such a great restaurant chain.
The server was friendly, helpful, and made sure we had what we needed and then some!
I think the restaurant decor needs to be a bit updated. I think it would attract a younger crowd then.
Nice light lunch.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. Everything was absolutely delicious they even gave us customized menus that said “Happy Birthday Mike!” Definitely will be coming back!
Great place for happy hour - sit at the bar or in the bar area!
Good service. 7pm place was empty. A little overpriced compared to a DiPescara or Wildfire
Nice placem, consistent with other similarly priced restaurants. Nothing special but would go back for a good piece of fish.
At restaurant in Old Orchard for Thanksgiving. Turkey dinner was excellent as was server.
We had mixed reviews on our meal.
The Lobster bisque was excellent; the Caesar salad was good, but too much anchovy paste (just my personal taste).
The Hawaiian tuna was just ok -- just a little fishy tasting to me. My friend's whitefish was excellent.
The chocolate silk pie was excellent too.
Our server was very attentive.
our table was perfect, and our server (not sure of her name) was on point, I'd give her an A++++++
My husband and I selected McCormick & Schmick's for our Thanksgiving late luncheon with our son. Our son is a Junior at Northwestern University and had classes that didn't end until after 6pm on Wednesday. McCormick & Schmick's proved to be an EXCELLENT choice for all of us. My son and I both had steak (medium rare & perfectly cooked). My son also had calamari and clam chowder. My husband had oysters Rockefeller and I had the Iceberg Wedge with Blue Cheese and Bacon. Everything was perfectly presented. The restaurant was quiet enough for some serious discussion. My son is extremely happy pursuing math and computer science at Northwestern. I would be happy to take him to McCormick & Schmick's again! Thank you for the excellent service and a great meal!
All was very good with one exception. We were inundated with fruit flies at our table. It would have been more pleasant without the fruit flies.
We have enjoyed going to McCormick and Schmicks in the past. This time, the night before Thanksgiving, we were placed in a small room off the bar. We were generally ignored by our server, who we think was also the bartender. I have never been so ignored and neglected by a server at an M&S restaurant, and it made me not wish to return to this location. I have no idea why the restaurant shunted us off to the side like this when the place was nearly empty.
