McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Skokie Ratings and Reviews
We have enjoyed this place previously, but today the fish was off, one meal seemed to have been overlong under the warming light and another of us gave up on his fishy smelling entree and ate bread. Dessert order was placed and it took 20 minutes. We had a good time in spite of the restaurant. We will not return.
We normally enjoy this restaurant more than our last visit. The service is usually better. It wasn't bad last night, but our server was less experienced and thus didn't have all the answers.
We ordered the filet medium well; and it came fully well done. Not the end of the world, so I didn't send it back as it was already getting late and didn't have the time to wait for a medium well replacement.
Other than that, we enjoyed the evening.
I'm sure they were much more crowded than usual for a Sunday evening. This was because of their very generous tradition of treating veterans to a great dinner the Sunday before Veterans day. Service was still good and the entree was out of sight. I always have had wonderful experiences at this M&S.
The food and service were outstanding as usual. I would recommend going to eat there to anyone. You will never be disappointed. You are always treated great. There is not a bad seat in the place. They have the best calamari appetizer that I have ever had. You can never go wrong eating at McCormick & Schmick's. It is always a great dinning experience.
THIS TIME WILL BE A GREAT EXPERIENCE, CROSS YOUR FINGERS!!!!
My party arrived just minuets before me, I gave the hostess my name and she waved her arm to the side and said "go ahead your party has arrived you can go over there " I then asked her to take me to the table. The Asian hostess (no name tag) was a little put off as she rolled her eyes and took me to the table. I found the staff to be too comfortable and relaxed at times for a place where the prices are not inexpensive, one would expect them to be a little more polished. I've dined here many times and there is always something that is a little odd, for example one time the manager introduced himself and I couldn't get passed the wrinkled shirt to hear what he was saying (it was so odd). After he walked away my guest remarked she thought he looked homeless with his wrinkled shirt and unshaved face, I was embarrassed and laughed it off. I've worked in the service industry and I think they could do a much better job and that's why I booked my reservation on Open Table so my voice could be heard. I really thought I was going to have a great experience because I have found that you do get treated differently when the resturant knows you booked on Open Table that wasn't the case :( wake up and fix your problems !
Ordered a New York strip and was served a ribeye. Both of our steaks were over cooked, asked for medium rare and we were served two well done steaks, grey throughout no pink whatsoever. Told our server immediately and we're simply told "sorry" no offer to correct the order or the error in cooking.
A birthday bonus of $25 off from Landry Select brought me to the restaurant. I forgot how bad the service is here but was instantly reminded of it when the hostess asked us to wait while she did...I don’t know what for 5 minutes. Just know they are not that busy but very slow. But food is great. I love their chopped salad. Excellent Sea Bass. Creme Brûlée was beautiful. And somehow my $25 off became $50 off, so all things considered, well dined.
M&S is your better-than-average seafood restaurant but can still disappoint sometimes. The lobster bisque & garden salad we had were excellent. My mixed seafood grill was good but the breaded flounder was mostly breading, with very little fish & minimal flavor. Our waitress was delightful but we did come for the food, which we remember as having been better in the past.
The food was decent but the service was terrible. We waited more than 45 minutes for our server even to bring our drink order, and more than an hour for her to take our food order. This was even after asking the host to send the server over to our table. When we shared our dissatisfaction with the server, she was non-responsive. Based on the poor service alone, I would not go back there again.
We like eating here because of the quality of the food. Whether you have lunch or dinner you will not be disappointed. If you like shrimp, ask for the Shrimp Trilogy. It is not on the menu but the chef will make it. The entree has fried, grilled, and shrimp scampi on it. And, if you have a chance, ask for Greg to be your server. He is a very good server who will make entree suggestions, very accommodating as to your requests, and does not rush you through your meal.
We made a reservation, letting them know we were celebrating my mom's birthday and would like a quiet table. We were thrilled when we arrived and were led to a table in a private alcove and were given menus with Happy Birthday printed at the top. We had a fabulous time. Our server, Judy, was incredible. Being from the East Coast, we were thrilled to enjoy seafood that tasted like it was fresh off the boat. So impressed when I ordered a glass of wine, Judy made a terrific recommendation. Delighted that my mom was offered a birthday dessert on the house. Could not have asked for a lovelier evening. My only criticism is that the overhead music was a little loud. I would just suggest they turn it down and have a softer choice of music playing.
We went on a Wednesday evening, and the shrimp and oyster deal was very good, because the shrimp and oysters were both very tasty and freshly prepared. We enjoyed the appetizers immensely. However, the lobster bisque was disappointing - a bit too salty, and perhaps back off on the sherry (or whatever the alcohol was - not for the alcohol, but the sherry tasted very strong). The "Happy Hour" choices for drinks, especially the wine and beer (in particular, the beer) - is really a very limited list. Otherwise, the service was friendly and quiet ambience (which we liked).
