Not bad. I expected a bit more of a food selection for the money we spent. It's the same as what you would get at Red Lobsters. Actually we should have went to Red Lobsters.
I had a salmon fillet on my salad. It was a 3 ounce piece. I was charge $18 for it. It said 5 oz.
Terrible service ... delays ... brought wrong salad... steak filet was horrible ... grissle ... asparagus was awful
Waitress katie knew it ams stayed away as did the manager
We came before a show in SJ. At 11:30 AM on a Saturday with a reservation, we were seated at a booth at the bar while the main dining room was fairly empty. We informed our waitress we had a show to go to and an hour for lunch, so please just bring appetizers and lunches all together or however they came out. She forgot one of our appetizers, and apparently she was training to be a bartender, as the noise level and crowd of waitstaff around the bar watching drinks being made would indicate. Whatever she was doing, she wasn't a very attentive waitress. We asked for bread that never came, water was never refilled, and ended up taking over an hour including having to bring the check up ourselves. One of our worst service experiences having been to this restaurant at least a dozen times in the last couple of years. Service is always very erratic at this location.
We originally came to have dinner in the dining room but went to Happy Hour in the bar and had great drinks and happy hour food!
Great happy hour and great menu for dinner.
Everything was great, but the restaurant seems understaffed
We ordered seafood dishes. Salmon and shrimp were a little overcooked, and the crab was good. Seasoning was great since I asked for 'light seasoning', which is perfect for my low sodium diet. The roasted red pepper mashed potatoes was very tasty. Veggies were cooked just perfectly. Not undercooked where it's super crispy with a green taste (as I had gotten in the past). Bummed that I wasn't able to get the salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp made cooked-to-order without any alcohol in it (since it can't be 100% cooked out).
My wife and I had dinner there 3/13 before going to a play. I had the scallops and my wife had the shrimp. Her shrimp were great. Very light batter, and the shrimp were of good size (16-20) and the portion was size was generous with six of them. The coleslaw they were served with was poor. Very running and not much in the flavor department. Her shrimp also come with french fries which were also good. I had the scallops and they were a terrible disappointment. Overcooked, dry and fairly tasteless. They came with a corn hash which was good, but a condiment of Wasabi, Avocado mix was confusing. It was way too hot for the scallops and did nothing for the hash. We had bread pudding for dessert which was fine.
The food was great, as always, but the service was lackluster. Two servers shared our table and they both went through the motions. We had to ask for plates at one time and for silverware at another time. This was disappointing compared to previous dining experiences here. We probably won't rush back.
Food was mediocre and expensive. My daughter had a grilled cheese we had to send back. Service was spotty.
The location is perfect for our evening. The food was wonderful as expected. Our waiter was polite, attentive and do everything necessary. We have high expectations for what we consider high-end restaurants and unfortunately our waiter was a bit sloppy with his service. Plopping the food down, not refilling our water, we were almost done with our food before he checked back in to see how we were doing. We ordered dessert and they didn't bring utensils to eat them. We very much appreciated the complimentary dessert for the birthday girl (who just turned 98!).
Overall it was a wonderful meal and nice evening. We will definitely come again because the food is always good and the location is great. The service is adequate and they are always very nice.
Professional, excellent customer service, outstanding food prep. Have always had a good experience dining at McCormick & Schmick’s, both in Seattle & San Jose over the last 30 years!
Friendly staff and always a good meal.
The wife, dog, and I went to McCormicks for a late lunch. Since we had the four-legged fur baby we ate outside which they turned on one of the heaters for us. The food was great and they were very accommodating. We will go back.
Awesome lobster bisque! Possibly best in town! Everything else was good as well, as was the service.
As always the food and service was excellent. The only problem is parking for the handicapped. We were fortunate this time to find a handicap spot in front but most likely my husband has to drop me off at the door and then go to park. Could they have valet parking?
Ate at the bar and bartender was outstanding and enjoyed solid drinks and a great steak and lobster dinner.
Attentive and knowledgeable waiter and that’s where the fine dining experience ended. The lobster bisque tasted like a canned commercial soup and the fried shrimp was flavorless. The tartar sauce wasn’t. Hadn’t been there in a long time and won’t return any time soon.
Server did not regularly come over for assistance. Has to request server many time. The diane steak came out cold so went back in and ended up burnt n well well done. Very disappointing!!
When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated in a side room which was fine except for the fact that there was a party of 12 people seated in the same room and it was extremely noisy. We asked the host to be reseated and he proceeded to put us near the front door. It was extremely cold that night and we were with my 83 year old mother who is very sensitive to the cold air (she starts to cough and get congestion) so we asked if we could move to another table further away from the door. The host checked and told us no, that the manager refused to let us move again! I was furious! So we just put on our jackets and dealt with the cold as we didn't have much choice as we had a show to go to that night and could not change restaurants at the last minute. The wait staff and delicious food made up for the terrible way we were treated by the host and manager.
Went after the theater mattine and walked right in at 5 pm and had great early dinner service, wonderful waiter, great wines by the glass, and fresh seafood. I had the Ahi and it was fabulous, and my guests had lobster, and also salmon and they liked theirs as well.
Well worth the short walk to get such a great dinner after the show.
We had a lovely family meal (belated Christmas gift to our children and their spouses after attending a broadway musical.) The food was excellent; both the seafood and the steaks. Desserts were delicious as well. The service was great, except for one thing. As the restaurant got busier, we kept being promised refills for our water glasses, but they never happened. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
This was a birthday celebration, and the restaurant made it very special with a complimentary dessert to end the evening and a customized menu. We got a great private table and the food was wonderful! Thanks so much!!
Had the Scottish Salmon and it was cooked to perfection! Salmon can be dry if overcooked but this was perfect. The bread pudding was the best desert to share.
Unfortunately the restaurant had to close due to some boiler malfunction. At least they gave us a courtesy call to let us know. however, it was too late to reserve a dinner somewhere since we were going to the theater.
The main dish is a bit too salty for my taste. the appetizer was great
Food was actually decent and so was our waitress. Unfortunately our table of 4 was cramped with other tables that I was touching shoulder with the lady of the neighboring table. Changed tables to the bar, which was much spacer and quite. As mentioned, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. However, the kitchen was extremely SLOW! It took almost 2hrs for dinner.
We, a family of 4, had dinner on a Sunday night. The website linked to Open Table, where we made a 6 pm reservation. When we arrived at 5:55, the host explained that there were no tables available--claiming that OpenTable is not properly synched, and that we would not be able to get a table until 9 or 10 at night. When we questioned this, they graciously cleared a table for us in the bar area. The service was very slow, and the waitress did not even take our order until we had finished our appetizers. The appetizers and entres we're over-priced, under-sized and not impressive. On the way out, we noticed numerous empty tables in the dining area.
Shrimp was over cooked. Fish and chips were just Ok. Everything was just ok, which made it not worth the price. Service wasn’t bad, but a little slow. Food on the seat when we sat down and not properly wiped off.
The Ancho Chili Charred Octopus was good; not great. The seared sea scallops were very tasty with the roasted corn hash my favorite part, together with the avocado cilantro lime puree. We were there mid-day and enjoyed a relaxed meal with conversation.
Next visit will be for meat. My scampi did not have a light flavor, and sat heavy on the pallet and finish. The noodles were too thick, pasty, and long. My wife's crab legs had been frozen and were tough, sinewy, and dry.
This was one of the best meals we have had at McCormicks since we started dining here several years ago. Our meals were cooked the way we requested and presented very well. I would order the same meal again. Enjoyed our lunch date.
Our reservation was moved 45 minutes out without explanation, and although we arrived on time we still had to stand and wait almost 20 minutes to be seated despite several empty tables that had been reset.
I was excited to try McCormick & Schmick's as I heard a lot of good things through the years. We arrived on Valentine's for an early pre-6 p.m. dinner, and were seating at the back of the bar. We were unable to see our menu and the seats were crammed between the wall and another table so the seat backs were touching. There was no candle on the table and no over head light, and there were small bar flies hovering our table. This was disappointing as we left there were 5 tables open, closer to the windows. Service was good, and food was good. I asked for extra vegetables, but it looked like one portion. Not sure if it is worth it to go back. Very disappointing on the whole event.
It was a great dinner on Valentine's for my wife and I. The food was great, loved the taste and the presentation, the drinks were just perfect, my wife found the perfect spot for a sangria... our server was amazing and attentive to our needs and made is feel that she cared for us having a great date. Chef Andres's flare on the food was unique and delicious, I would totally recommend this place for a special occasion or a regular date night...
They put us in the bar if I wanted to be in the bar I would have sat at the bar so I was not to happy about that. Our server was nice and she did a good hop and our food was great
Great service and the food was delicious..
