Great food & service! Nice place for a business meal.
We were seated on time and had a delightful server. The food was well prepared and attractive. The dining area is a bit noisy but not distracting.
We have had better nights at McCormick and Schmidt’s. Despite having a reservation others without reservations for seated before us, our placesettings at our table or incomplete and they appear we have had better nights at McCormick and Schmidt‘s. Despite having a reservation others without reservations for seated before us, or placesettings at our table or incomplete and they appeared to be Overbooked because they were generally very slow. In general, the food is very good as usual, however we were served a shrimp appetizer that was burned and had to be sent back to the kitchen for replacement order.
They were slammed! Got there at 6pm for our 6:15 reservation. Got seated at 7pm. Concert was at 8pm and we had not ordered by 7:15. Food came at 7:45. Yuck. Wife had Scampi.....it had been sitting as the butter had begun to clot. She didn't eat it. Beef Medalions were cold, but good. $200 hurt because the experience, my first, at this restaurant was poor.
Our server, Nick, was great! Efficient, friendly, and courteous. He paced the dinner properly and we never felt neglected. Food was very good, as always.
The food was good, but over priced. I would another restaurant in the future.
Nothing was very good about that this dining experience. They sat us at a table where the sun was coming through blinding the person who had to sit on that side and wouldn't move us though there were open tables throughout our meal. Waiter seemed attentive overall but we weren't served bread or the appetizer we ordered. My scallops were small, few, over cooked and rubbery. I will go to the Grill right next door next time. It is way better
We both had salmon done yet ways and both were done perfectly. Very tasty seafood
Service was slightly above Denny’s
It was quite apparent that training was lacking.
Would not recommend this eatery to anyone
We had a wonderful experience! Our server, Mohamed, was exceptional!
Disappointed in the seared Ahi. Cocktail sauce for the shrimp cocktail was good. 1st mojito was great! 2nd tasted like club soda & mint. Steaks, lobster mash & creamed spinach were tasty. Chocolate purse with white mouse & fresh fruit was the perfect end to the meal.
Enjoyable birthday dinner with the family. Overall food was good. Service was a bit slow at times but acceptable. We would recommend and return.
Crab Benedict was delicious! The service was very good as well.
I find the food to be fairly consistent and overall, very good. Our Easter lunch was no exception. The coconut shrimp appetizer was deliciously crunchy and meaty. Wish there were more than four on the plate!
Our entrees were excellent and my scallops were described very accurately by our waiter. They were succulent and had perfect accompaniments. I just wish there was one more scallop! My husband's steak and two lobster tails were also well received.
The service continues to be inconsistent at this establishment. Our waiter was helpful when we had a question about "grits" (on the brunch menu) in that he found out what they were from someone who really knew the answer! But he didn't bus (or have a busser take away) our first course plates, which sat there for a long time. He didn't notice our near empty drinks, until we pointed them out.
We like the location and the vibe overall, however, so we typically come back, especially for Happy Hour.
Service and food much improved over past years. Staff was perfect...attentive from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out the door.
Thank you for making our Date Night so special! =} Food, service and ambiance was excellent!
Birthday day dinner for two friends. We were under a time constraint due to a show that evening. Our server totally accommodated our time needs and we had a great meal. My favorite DT San Jose eatery
We've celebrated holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and casual dining before SJ Sharks hockey games. One of our favorites for any and all occasions. Great menu, great service. Never disappointed!
Appetizers were small and over priced and they only offered seafood appetizers.
Service was awesome! Everyone had a great time just think for the price the food could have been a little bit nicer/ better quality. Overall enjoyed our time and our server was fantastic 👍🏽
All the staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and surprisingly filling. Great for anniversary or dates/special occasion. They were nice enough to surprise us with a complimentary dessert which was so delicious. seafood tasted fresh and sides are delicious. Highly recommend the lobster bisque. Manager was nice and made our day feel special. Pear Martini was delicious and had a great after dinner menu with a great list of scotches. Would go back for another occasion for sure.
Nothing special here...I ordered the Salmon and it was just simply not good. Our waitress removed our plates too soon...not sure why since there was no line of people to be seated and no shortage of empty tables...
Jorge was an awesome server! We were first timers and everything was just perfect!
Chrissy was our server and she was excellent. Everything was cooked correctly. Chrissy made several suggestions and was very helpful with ordering of drinks, dinner and desserts.
It was a great experience for our first visit. Will definitely refer friends and family, also will be returning soon.
Mom from Midwest was craving fresh seafood. Very good choice to go to M&S. Food and service both great.
Not bad. I expected a bit more of a food selection for the money we spent. It's the same as what you would get at Red Lobsters. Actually we should have went to Red Lobsters.
I had a salmon fillet on my salad. It was a 3 ounce piece. I was charge $18 for it. It said 5 oz.
Terrible service ... delays ... brought wrong salad... steak filet was horrible ... grissle ... asparagus was awful
Waitress katie knew it ams stayed away as did the manager
We came before a show in SJ. At 11:30 AM on a Saturday with a reservation, we were seated at a booth at the bar while the main dining room was fairly empty. We informed our waitress we had a show to go to and an hour for lunch, so please just bring appetizers and lunches all together or however they came out. She forgot one of our appetizers, and apparently she was training to be a bartender, as the noise level and crowd of waitstaff around the bar watching drinks being made would indicate. Whatever she was doing, she wasn't a very attentive waitress. We asked for bread that never came, water was never refilled, and ended up taking over an hour including having to bring the check up ourselves. One of our worst service experiences having been to this restaurant at least a dozen times in the last couple of years. Service is always very erratic at this location.
We originally came to have dinner in the dining room but went to Happy Hour in the bar and had great drinks and happy hour food!
Great happy hour and great menu for dinner.
Everything was great, but the restaurant seems understaffed
We ordered seafood dishes. Salmon and shrimp were a little overcooked, and the crab was good. Seasoning was great since I asked for 'light seasoning', which is perfect for my low sodium diet. The roasted red pepper mashed potatoes was very tasty. Veggies were cooked just perfectly. Not undercooked where it's super crispy with a green taste (as I had gotten in the past). Bummed that I wasn't able to get the salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp made cooked-to-order without any alcohol in it (since it can't be 100% cooked out).
My wife and I had dinner there 3/13 before going to a play. I had the scallops and my wife had the shrimp. Her shrimp were great. Very light batter, and the shrimp were of good size (16-20) and the portion was size was generous with six of them. The coleslaw they were served with was poor. Very running and not much in the flavor department. Her shrimp also come with french fries which were also good. I had the scallops and they were a terrible disappointment. Overcooked, dry and fairly tasteless. They came with a corn hash which was good, but a condiment of Wasabi, Avocado mix was confusing. It was way too hot for the scallops and did nothing for the hash. We had bread pudding for dessert which was fine.
The food was great, as always, but the service was lackluster. Two servers shared our table and they both went through the motions. We had to ask for plates at one time and for silverware at another time. This was disappointing compared to previous dining experiences here. We probably won't rush back.
Food was mediocre and expensive. My daughter had a grilled cheese we had to send back. Service was spotty.
The location is perfect for our evening. The food was wonderful as expected. Our waiter was polite, attentive and do everything necessary. We have high expectations for what we consider high-end restaurants and unfortunately our waiter was a bit sloppy with his service. Plopping the food down, not refilling our water, we were almost done with our food before he checked back in to see how we were doing. We ordered dessert and they didn't bring utensils to eat them. We very much appreciated the complimentary dessert for the birthday girl (who just turned 98!).
Overall it was a wonderful meal and nice evening. We will definitely come again because the food is always good and the location is great. The service is adequate and they are always very nice.
Professional, excellent customer service, outstanding food prep. Have always had a good experience dining at McCormick & Schmick’s, both in Seattle & San Jose over the last 30 years!
