McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - San Diego Ratings and Reviews
I have eaten there many times. It is a great place for a nice lunch or a great dinner. The staff is fantastic, and the food is a great value.
This time was a Thanksgiving experiment. It was our first time dining out for the holiday. We weren't disappointed. We had a very nice meal at a great price. I'm not a pumpkin pie person. I live on chocolate. However, everyone else was happy with dessert.
I'm already planning my next trip downtown to eat there.
Service was excellent! Food overall lacking. Halibut was overcooked, shrimp skerwer also overcooked, tough and chewy. Had crab tower app, fresh tasting, flavor good, but over priced and pretty basic. All the sides that came with a halibut were flavorless and Bland. The brussel sprout side dish was tasty but wasn't served as advertised half of the dish was small red potatoes they were not listed in the ingredients. Felt overall food for price was not good and there are plenty of other places in town with more flavor to spend your money at. Also bummed us out later when we were told by other guests of the hotel that the bread was their favorite thing there. We weren't ever offered bread!
Food was good. Service was a little lacking. Had to ask for drinks more than once. Didn’t bring my guest their vegetarian meal and wanted her to eat just sides which was rude. She is Vegan so make the vegan plate. He was actually trying to negotiate with her saying, “you have all the sides there”.
I had the Salmon Penne for my free Veteran's Day meal that is offered every year. For dessert (not included w/ free meal), I ordered the Upside Down Candied Walnut Apple Pie which comes with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. Both items were delicious. I have only one regret, I forgot my leftover lunch on the table when I left. Part of getting old I guess.
The ambience was very relaxing and the food was Awesone. I felt honored that McCormick and Schmick Restaurant support the men and women of our military. To top it off Free valet parking put the icing on the cake which really help us out. I just want to give a Big shout out to your restaurant!
I had the Parmesan Chicken with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies... OOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTSTTTTANNNNNNDDDDDDINNG(outstanding). I don't cook very well but the flavor taste and size of the food was so High quality that when I get rich I will make this one of my date places...Thank you for the meal on Veterans day and I am not exaggerating about the taste of the food :)
This ended up being brunch type meal for us. Food was very, very good & tasty and will tell all
my friends & family.
Problems to correct: Drink service from bar completely unsat. Mimosa served in tiny champagne flute barely 6 oz or less ? $7.00 are you kidding me ? What was this Dom Perignon ?
Bloody Mary: Talked with bar keep specifically about this drink. My request completely ignored not corrected even the second time. Bar Mistress having a tough morning ?
Waiter: 50-ish waiter (Bobby) really frazzled this day ?? Seemed distracted, dismissive, &
possibly tired ?? Brought wrong food item (quickly corrected) so no problem except attention to detail. Other wait staff noticed our lack of coffee, etc.
Separate issue on Valet car parking. Hotels' responsibility. Call me if want to talk more.(302) 478-3374
I took an out of town friend to lunch for her birthday. The staff was so gracious and welcoming. When it was learned that today was her birthday, we were offered an amazing desert. I ordered a crab tower appetizer and as soon as my friend saw it, she wanted one for herself. It was not only a tasty appetizer, but a feast for the eyes as well. Ed, the manager stopped by the table twice to make sure that the meal met our approval. Our server was spectacular. A lovely lunch, that certainly impressed my friend. Thank you!
I was very disturbed to learn that the McCormick & Schmicks restaurant in Pasadena, has closed since my previous visit in 2013. Therefore, I was determined to dine at the San Diego one.
The Pacific Swordfish was as tasty as ever before, with a good selection of vegetables. The half-bottle of Malbec that I ordered was of a good quality, so was the crème brulee dessert. Slightly disappointed the fruit berry cobbler was not on the menu.
The waiter was very polite, just like all the other waiters at the Pasadena had been.
Disappointing Happy Hour menu. This is a changed menu since our last visit to this chain and have to say it is not as good as we have come to enjoy in the past. We tried TGIFs happy hour earlier in the day and it was much better in food and value ... sadly.
While staying at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, we decided to meet up with a friend for breakfast. McCormick & Schmick's was a good choice. We were given a booth which was private enough for our get-together. The service was attentive without being obnoxious. All three of us enjoyed our breakfast selections. We actually had left-overs. My only disappointment was that the bacon was greasy and not as crisp as I requested. The french toast was outstanding. I can easily recommend this restaurant for breakfast.
Our dinner at McCormick & Schmick's was a wedding anniversary celebration and this restaurant proved the perfect venue for this occasion. We were greeted with a menu headed by "Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Jensen" and it just got better and better as the dinner progressed. Our entrée was a superb seafood fettuccine with a light sauce cooked to perfection accompanied by salads and warm sourdough bread. Patrick was the ideal waiter who knew the menu and provided exceptional service. We'll be back on another occasion.
We met there prior to a Padres game. Food was very good. The manager, Fernando was very attentive. The meals that were ordered came out hot and delicious. It's a great spot to meet prior to a game and with the stamped receipt we were able to use the sky bridge. Great access to the game. I go there often and always feel welcomed.
Delicious, fresh Scottish salmon from their seasonal menu with tasty pea tendrils and mushrooms, and french fries instead of mashed potatoes. Salmon was best with kumquat sauce on the side. Service by Brian was great. We easily made it to our Summer Pops concert near the Convention Center.
This "Gaslamp" locations in the Omni Hotel is difficult toget to; this M&S remais nearly empty for dinners during the week. They relianceon on hotel guest dining, is obvious.
While we dined, the restaurant remained sparsly populated, yetthe wait for our entrees was considerable. This prompted the Management to offer to "comp" our dessert. We ordered two desserts and our waitperson returned to apologize they were out of both. This prompted Management to comp our parking vaildation. Our third selecteddessert was creme Brûlée, which only required being removed from their refrigerator. It took twenty minutes for it to arrive. It was delivered by the Restaurant Management along with yet another apology.
The "comps" did nothing to quell our dissatisfaction. Yet,I must share that our dining experience isn't representative of other M&S locations.
We left disappointed with our dining experience
Food was good and atmosphere was quiet. We ate early so not many people were out eating yet. I had the 6 oz. Petite Filet Mignon done medium with Mashed Potatoes, which were both done to my liking. Waiter was OK but did not introduce himself and went out twice for a cigarette break.
We eat here after a conference at the convention center or one of the local hotels as often as we can. The service, from the phone call to make reservations, the prompt friendly greeting upon arrival clear through the payment of the check, is always impeccable. This time was no exception. The server, Marco was incredible and attentive. The manager, Fernando checked on us and prepared our bill for us. We used our loyalty program and they even brought my hubby out a birthday cake and candle. The wine and cocktail selection is always varied and offers something for all. Our favorite place to stop and eat.
Unknowingly, we chose to dine at the same time as the Metallica concert was ramping up at nearby Petco Park, so parking was unexpectedly crazy, as was getting there amid blocked-off streets, and the restaurant was unaccountably busy for such an early time (4:30). But the food was delightful, as always, and the service better than might be expected for such a full house. Note to self, however: Check the Petco schedule before making reservations next time!
