McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - San Diego Ratings and Reviews
As always Mc&S was excellent. We always eat here when we are in San Diego. From the chef, to the Managers, to the servers everyone went above the call of duty and no one was too busy to help! Benjamin was our waiter this trip and he is phenomenal. Kind, gracious, courteous, and very knowledgeable about the menu! He enhanced our experience and made us feel like we were his only table even though he had a huge party to wait on! Thanks for another great dinner! We will be back!
We felt that we were rushed through the meal. We got our drinks, 30 seconds later the soup came, 2 mins later the meal came. We did not have time to enjoy the food because they were trying to get us out. The funny thing was there was no one in the restaurant so why did we have to be rushed to eat and get out.
I would never recommend the San Diego location. If it was busy I could understand however it seemed like they did not want us in their place. Sorry but this is how we felt.
Service was excellent but food far from being what it should be for this place and this price.
Calamari were greasy, rib-eye has no real tasty flavor which made me doubt of beef origin...!
One of the worse mushroom risotto I ever experienced!
Not a good experience and not to be repeated!
Booked new years eve 2017 family of 4. Mostly empty when we arrived at 6 30 pm. Service was very slow considering few other diners. Presentation was sloppy at best. I ordered seared tuna and 50% of it was 100% raw not a hint of being seared in any way. Brussel sprouts were over charged and basically unpleasant to look at. For the top dollar we paid, it should have been a stellar experience. Will not go back.
We were in San Diego over the Christmas holiday to visit family and we had dinner here on Christmas day. We were a little worried that the service might be slower or that the food quality might not be up to par given the holiday, but we were very pleasantly surprised that everything was great. Our server was attentive, thought ahead by bringing everything needed to the table sometimes before we asked for it. We all had very different meals - Filet, Salmon, Pasta/Shrimp, Pork Chop and every single dish was hot and delicious. We will definitely be back next trip to try some of the other items on the menu. The great meal and service helped make the holiday special.
We have been to McCormick and Schmick's many times previously. The food is always good and we like the ambiance of this location in the hotel lobby. The restaurant was somewhat quiet and I have to say the level of attentiveness of the server was a bit disappointing. She seemed to be spending her time doing a lot of "busy work" rather than paying attention to us.
Everyone at the restaurant was amazing. Patrick our server took care of our every need. I took my boyfriend here for his 30th birthday and every special request was met with no issues. Truly a romantic and private birthday celebration for the two of us. Amazing food and great atmosphere
Recently dined at this restaurant and service was quite poor. Had to ask the waiter for various things SEVERAL times (as if he forgot we had asked) and did not receive an appetizer we ordered (but we weren't billed for it either). Overall: we felt ignored.
Food was ok but not nearly as good as other restaurants in the chain. I don't recommend dining here.
The food and service were excellent. We went for Thanksgiving dinner and they had a special menu, as they do daily, which had a traditional turkey dinner. The wait staff and management were very quick to help and checked back often. For a fancy restaurant, they are kid friendly with kid menus and crayons.
Over the past three years we've enjoyed two complimentary Veteran's Day meals and now our second Thanksgiving Day meal at this restaurant.
Regrettably, this may be our last long drive into the Omni. We both arrived using our canes, and much to our amazement, the hostess started leading up a long flight of stairs. When she turned around she realized that we were not able to follow her...
Our table was at the upstairs entrance not too far from the elevator which was convenient albeit like sitting in an attic. We looked over the rail and saw lots of empty tables downstairs.
Our food came after a long wait. Before our service had always been prompt and the.food warm. We had to ask for cranberry sauce...
New experience this time. Even dessert took forever which gave us another peer over the rail at the empty tables on the main floor below.
Will we return...could be I'll forget all of this when I'm 80 and do it again with my lovely wife of 52 years.
We're greatful that the staff was there preparing our meal and serving us. Thank you.
Went for a family dinner of 8. Had several appetizers, clam chowder, a couple of salads, Filet Mignon, a couple different fish and a pasta dish. All were cooked perfectly, were very tasty and served hot and timely. Service was very good - timely, friendly and helpful. Best thing, the bread.
We had a noon reservation for four (we were 5 minutes early). We were seated immediately in an otherwise empty restaurant. Because there was a huge convention in town (of which we were part), the restaurant filled up quickly. As each new table was seated, we fell further and further down the list of priority (in accounting terms, I guess you'd call that first in - last out.)
In any case, we weren't greeted by a wait person for 20 minutes (I stopped a passing employee to ask for a server.) Of our drink order (2 diet Cokes, 1 water and 1 lemonade), all but the lemonade were served at 12:30; the lemonade was delivered at 12:45. We asked a bus person for bread (which mercifully came immediately). Our food (two salads, a sandwich and a med-rare steak) arrived at 12:50 (but the oysters arrived at almost 1:00.)
I tried to make eye contact with our waiter (an out right ask for attention might have seemed rude to our clients and I didn't want to be 'that' person). The waiter snapped at me twice - so I stopped even trying.
I worked in restaurants in nearly every capacity for a very long time; I understand that rushes happen and I know the chain of events that can cause these problems. I can empathize with the entire staff. However, my experience also means that I know what could have been done to prevent this problem from even happening. If you know you have a 40,000 person convention across the street - bring in more support staff (bussers, runners, managers, etc.). Don't divide your service stations so that a server is working both inside and outside. Recognize when a table has been ignored and send a manager over to comp the drinks - something, anything to let me know that you care that something went wrong.
Disappointing service for a mediocre meal. It makes me hesitant to rely on M&S for business meals in the future.
Went for the Veterans Day meal, made a reservation online. Upon arrival I was told the seating was closed so I was forced to sit in the bar area. No one ever came over to the table, I had to get up, walk over to the bar, get the bartenders attention anytime I needed anything including water and to order food. I was forced to start a tab and leave a card for dinner. The food was delicious. I got up to ask for the check. Received the wrong card, returned it and was still charged for my Veterans Day meal after showing my military ID. The place is beautiful and the food is good. That being said, the Veterans Day meal and my experience was handled badly.
The waitress at the bar walked by us twice without even a second look. It was only on her third pass did she ask us if we had been helped when my friend got up to walk to bar to order drinks. She was the only waitress working the bar...who else was going to help us? (The name "Christine" was on the bill.) After that she never got our drinks. Our dinner table was ready, but our drinks were sitting on the bar as she walked by those another two times. My friend went to the bartender, told him those were our drinks and wanted to pay for them directly. Extremely POOR SERVICE.
On to dinner- The waiter was professional, but not friendly. He didn't do anything wrong, but there was nothing about the service that would make us want to come back.
Also, it seemed the main entry host station and the gentleman working there was more of a social club entertainer for the employees and not running a restaurant hub for customers. The gentleman who seemed to be in charge was more a comic/clown with the female employees than a professional host.
When talking to hostesses on the prior to arrival they seemed more interested in talking at speed of light instead of actually listening to my questions and answering them. I was told that they offered to validate parking in the garage next door, but she didn't tell me that it's only a $2 voucher toward the parking bill. Is it that hard to provide a straight answer?
The food was good, the ambiance was nice, location is great. I thought M & S was supposed be a "nice place", but it's nothing more than an average Applebees, TGI Fridays, or Chilis....with better and more expensive food.
I seriously hope M & S San Diego will take these comments seriously and bring back the service that customers are looking for.
