We always have a meal here when in S.D. for Dodgers-Padres game. We dined early due to game time, so not crowded or noisy. Marco was very obliging, albeit a bit much. Had a super glass of King Estate Oregon Pinot Gris and 5 giant prawns with pasta and tomatoes in a white garlic cream sauce. Very nice. Served quickly. Due to the 5pm res., it was a 1,000pt dinner!
Great Food with appetizing presentation, excellent service and ambiance. A bit pricey for what it is.
Place was well above for an eatery located within a hotel and we got to meet the chef. Price was on a high end for the meals about 75 more than a comparable dining experience. Part of that issue is what kills the frequency of going to San Diego, as it can be higher than Hawaii. So the eatery is affected. Really nice meal but not a lot of lower costing alternatives.
We had a very nice meal at a great price. Thank you.
Extraordinary experience. Our waiter was magnificent.
We were disappointed with this experience as we were expecting an Easter brunch. Instead, we were offered options from the breakfast
menu.
Traditional lunch prior to opening day at the Padres game and celebrating birthday for one in our party. We have been doing this for over 10 years.
This place was great, the ambiance was nice. It was a little pricey for portion size but I knew that would happen. Would definitely recommend this place to others.
Excelente Sea Bass, truffle fries, muy buen vino Seghesio Zinfandel, excelente servicio!!!!
The place is so elegant & quiet, food is great & our server is so nice
Nice seafood with cozy mood!
Book club meeting so great food, great service and ambiance made for exceptional experience.
No está malo. Muy caro para lo que sirven.
Great place for celebrations
We had a fantastic waiter - Michael
We hadn't been there in some time and after we dined questioned, "why not"? Our meals were excellent; fresh seafood; server was friendly and efficient. Really enjoyed it.
Best steak
Great experience all around for our clients and us
very pleasant dinner at the terrific and very conveniently located location
We were visiting from out of town. Went there for lunch one day and ordered the crabcake for an appetizer. It was amazing the first day. We had the seafood pasta as our entrée. It was average. But, we were so impressed by the crabcake that we went back again for dinner one evening. We ordered the crabcake again as an appetizer. When it came out, it was about half the size of the first crabcake we had ordered. For $20, that was very disappointing. My daughter ordered the seafood Trio, which came with a crabcake for her meal and while the mail was 35, the crabcake we ordered for $20 was the same size as the one that came with her meal.
Fantastic food. Filet, lobster tails and mussels were all fabulous.
Food was very good and service was great
I have been to many restaurants in San Diego being a native. First thing I’d like to mention is that actually grill there oysters if you ask, which were fantastic and there first place that has had that option . The service was quick and extremely friendly. The food was great. And the drinks were crisp. Overall will definitely be back and recommend to others.
I usually love this place; however, after 3 straight bad experiences I am giving up and writing this review. We went for Valentine’s Day. The restaurant called me to confirm my reservation during the day. We arrived at 730 for our table and were told it would just be a minute. Ten minutes later the hostess indicated we might want to just sit at the bar as it would be a very long wait. There were empty tables everywhere. We said no, and then magically got a table. We had 3 different servers during the meal. After a 45 min wait, They delivered us the wrong meals. I had to go into the kitchen area to find someone to help us . When cleaning up the table after dinner the gentleman dropped a knife into my fiancé’s lap covering her with cream sauce . No apology. Not once were we asked how our food was or experience.
Anyway, I would skip this place. Had similar rudenesss from host staff the last two times, etc. It’s a shame, this place used to be great.
Went for my wife's birthday, which is also Valentine's Day. Total disaster. Had us seat ourselves. Forgot our "custom" menu. Waited two hours to be served and the food was cold! Waiter "mentioned" that he had served four tables that night, and three had walked out because the food was so poor. We made table number four...
Best scallops in any San Diego dining spot. Perfectly seared on both sides, creamy smooth in the middle, nice mix of vegetables or sweet potato mash with the meal. Clam chowder always filled with clams and just enough potatoes.
Chefs corner menu: Grilled Wild Isles Salmon with roasted beets and asparagus was exceptional.
Dessert: Upside Down Candied Walnut Apple Pie with ice cream was a nice alternative to chocolate offerings.
PLUS: Boodles gin martini was perfect start to the meal.
I was not impressed with the quality of the food at all. The staff was fine but the overall dining experience was just OK.
Food was delicious, as always, but our server “Marco” was not good...he rushed us taking our order, walking away before we were done with our questions. He did not bring the bread out, which is my favorite, until we had to ask him for it when they brought the entree. He also got my husband’s order wrong and he had to wait for it to be redone, never good.
Great Happy Hour with lots of variety.
Service was exceptional
Great patio for outdoor dining
Overall a wonderful meal. The restaurant even printed a special menu for our table wishing a Happy Birthday...the number of years and the date. That is customer service, and the food was just as outstanding. Best Chilean Sea Bass I have ever eaten.
Service was very good. our server quickly changed our table when we asked, due to a noisy baby in the booth next to us. Food was wonderful, as it always is here. The only difficulty was parking, as there was an event at Petco Park, which could have been mentioned when we made the reservation and we would have been more prepared for it! But since we made it with Open Table, there was no hint. We had to pay an exorbitant amount to park in the nearby structure because it was event parking that night.
I had the best swordfish I've ever eaten here. The ambience was very intimate. This is a great place to take a date.
Mediocre food was certainly not worth the 2 hour wait. Not near up to the expectations set by other M&S locations across the nation.
El servicio muy lento y tuvimos que esperar la mesa más de 20 minutos aún con la reserva confirmada
Dissapointed with service and ambiance due to price. Food was average, had better service and steaks at Donovan’s and Ruth Chris.
I was excited to go to this place and it was talked up a lot by clients and friends. They gave me a gift card to try it.
The Resturant is located in a hotel the second level where we sat is not inclosed so you had the lobby noise.
The restaurant didn’t have any type of cozy, classy or special feeling to it at all. We sat at a table for 6 and it was only 2 of us so that was odd. The waiter was nice. Our appetizer came out fast and had to ask /wait for bread for a long time that came out after the appetizers.
We left with an underwhelming feeling. If it wasn’t for the $100 gift card I would of felt completely ripped off.
I don’t think I’ll ever go back.
It would be good if you stayed at the hotel or had an event in the area you were attending. There are sooo many better choice just a few blocks away.
I would shop around
We really enjoyed this restaurant or food was great and the staff was super attentive.
We enjoyed the homeless gathering , coming and going, exchanging whatever. Pet owners walking their dogs to relieving themselves, all right outside the window, less than 25 feet away!, very appetizing!!!!
Business transaction
The restaurant is well-located, menu is varied and interesting but service was pitiful. Hopefully not all servers are as lazy, rude and poorly trained as ours was.
Very noisy for thanksgiving dinner. Lots of screaming kids which was annoying. One server completely ignored my husband when he tried to find out why our bread never showed up. Food was fine
