McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Roseville - The Fountains Ratings and Reviews
first time visit to this restaurant for my birthday. We made reservations for this night for 3 people. When we were seated, they took us to a table set for just 2. Never even asked about our 3 person. Bad server, bad service, waste of my $50 point dollars use from my Landry's card. We had a coupon for a "free" appetizer but found that there was only 2 to choose from with the price limit the coupon gave us. We told our server that this was our first visit and asked to explain the meals for us like tell us what comes with the meal, etc. We were there for 2 hours, watching other customers come in, get seated, eat, and leave before we even received our meal. We watched another server take care of his tables and was very tentative. Our server, not so much. Never refilled the bread that she said she was going to do, and we sat there with empty glasses of ice tea. Also, gave the server my Landry's card when we were paying for our dinner, which I received $25 towards. Not even a "happy birthday" which was listed on the receipt. Definitely not a very good first impression. You would think that if you were told that this was your first visit, you'd make sure it was a great one.
My husband loved the Ribeye but the lobster tail was the same size as a large prawn. I had the stuffed salmon which did not taste fresh....my mashed potatoes were luke warm and dry. I have eaten in the restaurant in SF and loved my meal there....I will give this restaurant another chance in a few months.
This was a pleasant surprise. We have always had good food at this chain but the lunch was outstanding. We had their signature steelhead and salmon dishes with no appetizer or dessert. We were impressed. Service was an A+. Food was fresh and served hot off the grill. We will be back next time we are shopping in Roseville.
My friend and I only stayed for 7 minutes. We sat down, looked at the menu and because my friend is a vegetarian, she found nothing on the menu she could eat, so we left. But in the 7 minutes we were sitting, we never received water, never asked if we wanted a drink, never had wait-staff come to the table. It was a good size restaurant and it was nearly empty, so there was no reason why we never got service.
We went to McCormick & Schmick's for New year's Eve. We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation. The service was excellent (unfortunately, I cannot remember our server's name), and the food was also excellent. We took our best friends with us and could not have had a better experience.
The service was very slow. Our reservations were at 8pm and we arrived at 749. There were 5 empty tables but they said “we will seat you when it gets closer to your reservation time” once seated We sat 15 minutes with no attention from the server, not even a glance or an acknowledgement. The hostess came over and brought bread and took our drink order (we all got water) then we waited another 10 minutes to place our order. After we ate we decided on desert. It took 18 minutes for the waitress to bring out one desert and tell us they ran out of the other ordered desert did we want something else. The waitress wasn’t that busy. We were very disappointed.
Not the greatest seafood restaurant but decent for a inland location. Go to Seattle or San Francisco if you want great seafood. Always get fairly good service though. Don’t bother getting Laundry’s point card. Too many requirements they don’t tell you about. Twice now they wouldn’t give me points because I paid with a gift card. Overall I gave 4 stars but would have been 3 1/2 if I could
We had reservations but it took about 20 minutes to be seated. Restaurant was not very busy. It took about 45 minutes to get our food. The food was hot but was average as taste was concerned. We have been to the restaurant before and have had better meals. We will come back.
Service was excellent, waiter was very attentive and informative regarding the menu choices. Bar made a mistake and did double drinks for happy hour that doesn't apply to dining room guests, but they went ahead and gave us the extra set of drinks free just the same. Me and my wife both had seafood entrees (Crusted Sole & Salmon with crab & shrimp stuffing), both were excellent and fresh, as were the cooked vegetables. We would definitely go back again.
We went during holidays. Our waitress was very sweet but forgot to give us bread plates, and a fork for my husband’s dessert. It wasn’t that busy so with a little more attention on her part this wouldn’t have happened. My trout was very good but the risotto and veggies were lackluster. My husband’s beef medallions seemed measly for the price. Can’t recommend the bread pudding - the description is better than the dessert. I do recommend the pear martini - it was good.
Jen, our waitress, and the rest of the team who worked Christmas night we’re a godsend for our family group of 6. After the craziness of the holiday (we do our fancy dinner Christmas Eve), we just wanted a place to go after our movie that wasn’t crappy diner food. And did this place deliver! They were gracious and kind, and though the food did take a bit longer to arrive than it would on any other day due to the congestion (I’ve been here many times, always a great experience), it was far less of a wait than we expected to sit and eat. Thank you, McCormick family, for adding great memories to our holiday!
It’s always been hit or miss at this restaurant but this time tops them all. Where do I begin??? It was Christmas night, had reservations for two at 8:15pm. We arrive and they tell us they’re running 30 min. behind. We finally get seated and the waitress tells us, I hope you’re not in a rush the kitchen is running one hour behind for entree’s. Since it was too late to go anywhere else on Christmas night, we opted to wait it out. By the way, prices on the menu seem to increase every time we have dined here. The portions also seem smaller. During our lengthy wait we had the lobster bisque, bread, water and coffee. The soup was ok, could have been warmer, they also changed the way they serve it. The bread is horrible, I could buy a better loaf at the grocery store. As we waited patiently, not once did we get a refill on our drinks. I had to flag the waitress down. After our hour waiting for our entrees, our waitress came to us and said, I wish I could tell you yours is next but it’s not. About ten minutes later we received our food. Our hamburger was cold, the French fries were awful, tasted like cardboard. They must of been frozen. My salad was wilty and chunks of dressing were spattered across. Mind you, we waited an hour for this dinner. It was horrible, the worst experience with no apologies from the management or any offerings of any kind. After dinner, our waitress asked if we wanted dessert, she promised and laughed it wouldn’t take an hour. We declined, weren’t willing to take our chances.
There is no excuse for a restaurant to be open for a Christmas dinner and to be so incompetent. Everyone had reservations, management should of prepared accordingly. For the prices they charge, the quality of food and service should be worth the experience. I would never recommend this restaurant nor will I be visiting McCormick & Schmick’s in the future or it’s sister restaurants.
Went for xmas dinner- our reservation was 30 minutes late (not too bad for a holiday) however they were out of a lot of their better food items and it took an hour to get our food which was overcooked. We dared not send it back - not up to their usual high standards - too busy
We went here for Christmas dinner as it was one of the only places open. We would of been better if at 7/11 drinking slurppies. We got a reservation a week in advance showed up on time and they were 30 minutes behind... okay it's Christmas there busy understandable right . So we wait finally we get seated and start to look at the menu , are waiter brings us drinks and my daughters soda was flat... again not that big of a deal they fixed it . Then we got to Oder and are waiter informs us that they are out of pretty much 3/4 of the things on the menu. Ya hats a disappointment right ! We come to a fancy restaurant to get nice seafood and steak and there all out of it ! We ended up eating burgers and mash potatoes. Witch might I add we're not good. Mash potatoes were cold and my burger seemed as if it had been sitting there for an hour the bun was soggy and gross overall it did not taste good.To top it off it took almost 2 hours to get are food. And then the best part the bill of course as I would expect it was expensive that wasn't the problem the problem was we were paying a ton of money for food that wasn't good and wasn't what we wanted . Overall it was an awful experience I will not be returning.
We had reservations for a party of 3 on Christmas Day. When we arrived, we were told we would have to wait 45 minutes! We almost left, but I pleaded with my friends to stay. After 45 minutes, we were seated. There were many elderly people on walkers and canes who were standing around in the lobby, waiting for a long time. The bar was jam packed.
Once at the table, the server told us that the kitchen is backed up, and it will take 1 hour for our food to arrive to the table! Why didn't they tell us this upfront before we waited to be seated? That really felt like bait and switch to me. Unfair.
Then we tried to order and there was a LONG list of items that they did not have available. The server suggested that if we want to eat faster, we can get the appetizers out sooner. So, we did that. I was with two hungry men, who were very crabby because they had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes for their meals!
Why have reservations if they cannot honor them? I realize it was a holiday, and they are busier than normal, but running out of food and taking more reservations than they can handle was unfair to customers. It was poor management. I blame the manager for this fiasco. I hope he/she has learned that they probably lost many customers over this. On the flip side, our server Pete, was wonderful. He was gracious, apologetic and kind. He did not appear to be ruffled. I realize this was not his fault. Overall the staff was great and handled this with grace. The front desk girls were also very calm under the circumstances.
The portions were small for the prices. They did not give us any complimentary drinks or appetizers, which also was a poor decision. I ended up spending about $50 in appetizers (which I normally would not have purchased). I walked away feeling disappointed and frustrated with the experience, and saddened for the staff who had to try to appease upset customers.
I won't be going back, nor would I recommend this establishment.
While I appreciate them being open on Christmas and being very open about how long wait times were going to be to get our meals, they caused much of their own issues by overbooking. Waitress had an attitude from the get go and we had to ask constantly to get additional drinks and bread (for the wait). After asking a couple of times, we finally got our meals even though other tables around us got theirs after sitting after we did. Then to make it worse, the food was cold and obviously had been setting in the window for some time. Not just one meal, but everyone. I did complain and they did comp our meals, (very professional), but this did not make the evening and Holiday very enjoyable. When the waitress brought me my bill, she was rude and made the sarcastic comment, "you got your entrees comped", and stormed off. You don't want to work on Christmas, get another job somewhere else. Won't go back. Very expensive for very little food, cold or not.
We were there for Christmas Day Dinner with reservations. It was very crowded but the hostess was honest that the kitchen was behind. We got seated relatively quickly, but we waited a long
time for our food - 1 hour. It was okay because we were with very good friends and we had bread and water and they brought our alcoholic beverages soon after. I recognize that Christmas Day is a difficult restaurant day and they seemed to be handling it well for the most part. The food was very good in my opinion and the waiter was courteous and responsive. We would definitely go back!
We've been to McCormick & Schmick's many times. This happened to be our 3rd Christmas dinner at the restaurant.
Food, server, ambiance were great. Our reservation was at 4:15 and we were seated promptly. Ordered our meals, received our cocktails, soups and then we waited and waited and waited for our main course. We finally received our entree at 5:30!!! Again, the server was great. The kitchen on the other hand, needs some serious help.
The low overall "stars" caused by the disastrous events at the restaurant. Apparently 6 (or 3) chefs had just quit and 3 had called in sick. So they were down 6 (or 9) chiefs on Christmas Day. This caused a HUGE delay in food, like a couple hours. They were out of quite a few menu items too. 4:00 reservation, food served after 6:00. The employees did the best the could under the circumstances. It does make you wonder why so many chiefs would bail on Christmas Day? Why would so many be unhappy there? Usually, the attitude comes from the top!
An hour and 40 min to get our meals on Christmas at 330 in the afternoon.
No one checked on us once our meals were served.
They offered a dessert, but was out of what my daughter wanted.
I spoke with manager just prior to us getting our meals.
Nothing done to rectify the experience.
It was just me and my daughter
The table beside us waitied even longer.
I woke the next day truly upset about what had happened - called and complained.
Asked for a adjustment to my bill which did not happen.
-was told to visit again and they would take care of me- not!
We made a reservation for Christmas Day dinner in October. When we got to the restaurant it was packed at 3:30 in the afternoon. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be sat. We ordered an appetizer and that came quickly which turned out to be a very good thing. We ordered dinner and it took literally one hour or more to get dinner. As I said, the restaurant was full and there were many people waiting to be sat. Overall, being Christmas day and the fact I was not having to prep, cook or clean up dinner, it was a fantastic meal. The service was spot on fabulous, our waiter Pete was very attentive and offered updates as often as he could. The fish was wonderfully prepared and tasted even better. We found out that two line cooks had walked off the job during the day which caused the long wait for food. McCormick and Schmicks is one of the very few fine dining restaurants open Christmas Day and worth the wait. I would dine here again without hesitation. We ended up having a wonderful Christmas dinner!

was the wine list and other drink selections offered, the service was extremely good, the
restaurant atmosphere and overall ambiance was very good and the value received by US
was great. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone for a fine dining experience.
