We were there on St. Patty’s day and there was live music in the bar and it was loud, but I’m sure on a normal day the restaurant would be less noisy. Our server was attentive and made recommendations for our meal and answered all our questions. Overall it was a good experience!
Service was terrible.
Cooked meal poorly. Ordered medium rare and received well done. No drink refills. Wrong dish brought to the table. Very loud and poor service. Not the norm for this chain and had same experience twice here.
I really like the menu, since it changes on a regular basis. The wine list is a gem to look at and try new wines as well.
great service and pleasant surprise with the birthday cake dessert.
the only problem was that I had noted that this was my 40th anniversary, but they didn't notice it and so there was nothing special for us. I mentioned it to the server at the end of the meal and he said he wasn't informed. I think the manager was asleep at the switch. There were not many guests (Sunday evening) so it wasn't because they were busy.
That was a bit disappointing.
We’ll be back!!! We really enjoyed ourselves!!!
Everything was absolutely wonderful, especially our waitress Olga! We wanted for nothing! The extremely loud and energetic music could have been quite a bit lower, we were sending our son back to school, and had to shout over the music, not pleasant at all. Maybe you could keep it lower in the dining area.
pretty bad when you get a salad with grilled chicken on it and you have to send it back because the chicken was cooked to the point it resembled shoe leather
Outstanding service and atmosphere. We commandeered one of the private booths for a business meeting. It was a perfect place for private discussion . Future business partners were amazed with the service, food selection, and private atmosphere.
The restaurant is very very pleasant ...the food is very mediocre...the service is not bad...the prices are average but not in sync with the quality of the food, they should be less expensive...the mussels were minuscule and shriveled...the crab cake was well below average...it is a restaurant with a superb location, beautiful in itself but surprisingly where you would not plan to return!...the whole experience is very sad!...
The Happy Hour prices in the bar was the perfect start! The bartender was a perfect gentleman and definitely knows his craft! Our waiter for dinner was attentive and also highly experienced. The manager stopped by and really tied it all together making sure no detail was overlooked. It also didn't hurt that we discovered he was a fellow Navy Chief! Reston is getting it right at McCormack and Schmicks!
Good food and service but a bit pricey. Restaurant was nearly empty and I had a reservation but they opted to seat me st a table in the back with poor lighting. Definitely would have preferred one of the many vacant booths. Should I ever return I will be more vocal anout that.
Outstanding dinner tonight. I had the organic salmon and my husband had the flounder. All of the food was perfectly cooked and the accompanying vegetables thoughtfully chosen. Our server, Brandon, accommodated my dietary need with attention and humor. A great dinner from beginning to end.
The food was great and the staff was very attentive.
Birthday dinner. Everything was good except for the loud music. Very difficult to converse and enjoy the moment with all the music blaring.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner in the back dining room!
My wife and I really enjoyed dinner there, the seafood was very fresh, the service excellent.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. They always do a great job. The service is excellent and the food well prepared and very tasty.
The water was served in a big glass bottle and we got charged $7 without telling us...more expensive than two cups of cocktail $3/each
Server was awesome! Food was delicious. Great dining atmosphere.
HORRIBLE. The worst food and service. A massively important customer dinner for 9 people. SLOW doesn't even describe the glacial pace...45 min to even get a bread basket. Note this was the kitchen and management (or lack thereof) not the waitress. Drinks when they arrived we wrong - the waitress actually asked if one of our party wanted their martini "sweet" - huh? The appetizers were average at best; this included the lobster bisque I ordered which was delivered without a spoon. 8 minutes later it was as lukewarm as the ribeye they brought later. We spoke to the manager - they literally sent someone junior over not the real manager!! It was the worst most expensive meal in a 30 year career. This company should be absolutely ashamed.
We enjoyed our dinner but were seated next to the bar and the noise level was very loud. Our waiter was attentive but we ended up with the wrong drinks and, although delicious, the food portions seemed smaller than they used to be.
A nice, not-overcomplicated menu of seasonal and other specials. I had the Hawaiian Tuna which as cooked perfectly, served on wasabi mashed potatoes. Really enjoyed it and there was exactly the right portion. I started wit the seasonal green salad which was fresh and a perfect compliment to the main meal. Wine selection decent but not extensive.
We ordered the entree of ahi tuna and a ribeye steak. At that point the server should have told us the tuna would be sliced paper thin and you get about 6 pieces. He should have said if we were looking for something more steaklike, the special tuna was a steak. At least set some expectation. When the entrees arrive we sat bewildered at the dish in front of us. We thought maybe he rung up the appetizer so we check the description. Nope that was the entree. This meager slice of tuna was a meal. We didn’t want to be rude and send it back so we at it. I felt guilty that I was eating a steak and my partner was eating what was basically 5 quick bites. The cost was about $30 for this “meal”. The appetizer of tuna was $15. I would be horrified to see what you get for $15. The restaurant should put on their menu a description of how little you get or the server should confirm the amount of the order. If you go, don’t order the ahi tuna as a meal and expect to leave full.
I have been a long time diner at McCormick and Schmick's, which makes this even harder. My last two meals-one in Tysons, one at Reston Town Center both left something to be desired--service. The service on both occasions was poor at best. My most recent visit to RTC a few weeks ago was head-scratching. I had a guest from Brazil and she requires gluten free food. We asked twice for the gluten free menu. Once received we both ordered the same fish, one from the gluten free menu and one from the regular menu. When the food arrived, they were both the same--the waiter told her it was gluten free but we knew better. After a bit of conversation they took her food back and then we sat there and sat there waiting for her correct dish to arrive. The manager came by and we caught his attention, he immediately checked on where her dish was and it arrived shortly thereafter. At the end the waiter brought us a creme brûlée (delicious) for our trouble but ...whether someone has health issues or not are they not there to assist us in having a pleasant meal? Very disappointed.
My wife and I went there for our second wedding anniversary. They asked us what the occasion was when we made the reservation. I do not know why because they gave us a table closest to the door. They did not make the night special at all. Why ask what the occasion was for? Upon receiving our food, I got a center cut ribeye medium rare. It was a thin overcooked piece of meat. The manager looked surprise at the cut of meat himself. They then remade me a new steak. However this time it was completely raw. Third time was the charm. Unfortunately my wife was done eating before I even took my first bite. 40$ for a USDA choice piece of meat? I don't get why it cost so much. Not going back....ever.
It was great!
It was good amazing food and friendly atmosphere along with excellent service.
We thought the food was so so. I had crab legs and they were a bit dry
Wonderful private atmosphere with tables that are In cubicles. Kind of a limited menu. Swordfish was exceptional. The almond encrusted trout was tasteless and a very large piece. The veggies and orzo were also tasteless. We have eaten at this chain for many years in various locations and the menu seems to be tired. They do procure from local farms but the recipes need to be updated. Service was good.
Great seafood variety with very high quality on each of the entrees. This good food when combined with excellent service at a reasonable price makes this M&S a good place to dine at.
Celebrated birthday dinner here. We shared a fried calamari. Also ordered lobster bisque. Had a filet and crab cake with green beans.
The restaurant had a challenging evening. Seated, then moved our family group of 6 to another table because the waiter assigned to that table hadn’t yet come to work. Then unable, after 20 minutes, to find the ordered wine. The waiter eventually brought a bottle of a different vintage, and when I declined that and ordered a different wine, it then took 10 minutes to bring the replacement. Food quality - both steaks and seafood - were excellent but one steak ordered medium rare was vastly over cooked. Given the difficulty, it would have been reasonable for them to comp a dessert or coffee but no such offer was made. The just-closed M&S Grill across the street seems to have merged some staff and management, so perhaps that accounts for some of the glitches. But it’s something that needs attention.
Did not let opentable know that we made our reservation!
Unfortunately, our experience was average at best. The food wasn't in line with the price.
Great food, particularly seafood. Ambience is rich, waiter was very attentive and quick.
