We came there during the restaurant week. A few things did not work well:
-- we could not get appetizers for about 30 minutes
-- the salmon was dry (the beef medallions were good)
-- creme brulee was apparently brought from a fridge; the upper crust was pre-made and not baked in on our order
-- they messed up our bill: they put a regular charge for one of the desserts, instead of the special restaurant week price
(After we found the error, they removed the charge for both desserts, though.)
Service was very poor considering this is a "fancy" place. Food was cold and service was slow as well. Not impressed.
Birthday - the birthday dessert was delicious
Thank you M&S
Food was great and service was super! We loved the seafood!
The waiter was awful, too pushy, insistent on upsellung soups, salads and most expensive items. We ordy1 bottle of wine, he recommended 2 bottles- everyone did not drink!
After the order was taken, it took too long for the food to arrive. The Restaurant was not busy!
Will not come back. Our guests were from out of town and I was embarrassed
Excellent seafood, good steaks, outstanding service. But the restaurant's lack of gluten-free breads is a disappointment. Legal Seafoods can do it .. why can't McCormick & Schmicks'? We spoke to the manager about this .. he agreed that this should be an option but says his hands are tied by Landry's policies. Somehow Landry's management needs to be brought into the 21st century.
The staff at the Reston McCormick and Schmick are the most welcoming, professional people I have seen at a restaurant for a long time. We had our 15 month old granddaughter with us and they were so accommodating and pleasant. The waiter brought the baby’s food very quickly so she didn’t have to wait while we had the most delicious lobster bisque. Our entrees were all delicious and the mango sorbet was very refreshing. There was a band playing music and we could enjoy the music while still holding a conversation. I would definitely return for another meal and maybe just for a date night with my husband. If you have a baby don’t be afraid to bring them, they are certainly welcomed here.
We were seated right next to a very large party even though there were other tables open. That made it very difficult to talk and to even hear the waiter. The waiter was very distracted with the big party and no one else stepped in to help so service was slow. The food took 40 minutes and was underdone on both the steak and the salmon.
The kitchen was very slow and disorganized. The first time they send out the wrong order. The 2nd try brought basic entries but one lacked the requested side and other lacked the special ordered garnish. A third try brought one entry back with the garnish. The
requested side never came. The salmon was somewhat dry and overcooked. We guessed that they were short-handed and the supervisor responsible for checking the orders before they were served (if there was such a person) was distracted by other problems.
Then, the bill was slow to come. Of course, it was wrong. We were overcharged for one entre, undercharged for the other.
The maître 'd, Ryan, was very helpful on in straightening out the messes as they happened.
The Black and White draft beer combo of Guinness and Stella Artois was new to me. It was superb. Ryan's kindness and the great beer are the only reasons why we'd ever consider coming back.
It was all just fine until we were ready to pay and our waitress disappeared for a good while, after we gave our credit card. No excuse or apology when she came back either which was odd.
Slow service for both food and drinks. Must have been understaffed. Food was good but temperature was tepid. Must have been waiting awhile before we were served
Overall it is a good restaurant but a bit overpriced. I had the Halibut special that came over ratatouille. The halibut was good but the ratatouille was all onions.
Since the restaurant is not close to home, we came up to use my birthday special from the Landry Select Club before attending a concert my grandson was playing in nearby. This is our second trip to this location - the one we normally go to in McLean apparently closed a few months ago.
We were seated immediately and had our drinks in minutes. We had the Calamari “Fritto Misto” for an appetizer - it was delicately fried and delicious. Not only was the calamari in there, but jalapeño peppers, artichokes and sweet potatoes.
Our meals were also wonderful - I had the bourbon glazed salmon and my wife the Beef Medallions. I would recommend both. The salmon was tender, as were the medallions. The only downside to the beef dish was that it was a little light on the meat portion. The sides - mashed potatoes and spinach were also excellent.
Wonderful food and incredible service.
the best part about mccormick and schmicks are OLGA THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, ELEGANT, PROFESSIONAL WAITRESS ON THE ENTIRE PLANET.......AND KEN THE VERY TALL CHEF W/A BEARD. GREAT PEOPLE - LOVELY, HELPFUL, PROFESSIONAL - AWESOME.
We had a great meal. The waitress was extremely attentive and made for a great dining experience.
Great time. The lobster bisque was the best I've ever had. The staff was great!
My husband & I were celebrating our 46th anniversary. We had been to this location 3 years earlier for the same occasion and experienced some issues with food and service. This resulted in management sending us a gift card for a return visit. Since it had been years since our visit, we thought we would try the restaurant again. We love seafood and M & S is popular for this fare in particular. The ambiance was still quiet and well appointed. The wait staff was personable and very accommodating. My meal was cooked perfectly. My husband’s not quite so, but not enough to make a scene by having to return it to the kitchen. We also had to wait an amazing amount of time just for bread, and ultimately couldn’t get any to go with our meal! This happened during our first-time visit as well! Something as simple as warm bread seemed to be impossible to provide. The excuse given was that it was close to closing time (45-50 mins.) and “its still in the oven”.
If someone was to ask about the restaurant, I’d have to say “Make your reservations with reservations!”
The food was delicious, it always is! But the service... the amazing AJ, our sever, made our night very special. He paid attention to every detail and was super friendly! Also the manager, had the wonderful gesture of stoping by our table to make sure everything was perfect. And it was!
Excelent experience! It’s my favorite restaurant in the area so... we will come back!
Excellent evening all around. Our guest really enjoyed it.
Service was very slow. Took a long time to get our food. Bill was incorrect and had to get the manager involved. The prices are high so high level of service is expected.
We went to celebrate my daughters birthday and Fathers day at the same time. I had the ahi tuna that was completely dry. I was surprised since they are a steak and seafood place. It was quite tasteless and also cold. My family really enjoyed their meals (steak, shrimp and crab cakes, and fried shrimp).
Although a bit noisy at prime dinner time, the food will be the main draw for coming to M&S Reston. M&S is a chain with consistently high quality offerings, and this one in Reston continues to further the quality of the franchise.
Great food and service! Ambiance was welcoming. Waitress was very attentive yet gave us space to enjoy our time. Well done!
perhaps we ordered the wrong thing - we had fried softshell crabs- over breaded, and just not tasty. Wine was good, service was good, and we enjoyed sitting outside watching the street scene in the excellent weather. we have dined at McCormick and Schmick's in other locations before, and totally enjoyed the experience.
Enjoyable meal with a great atmosphere and quick service.
I have been eating at this restaurant for years, but it seems it gets a bit more disorganized and noisier with every visit. I think this may have been my last visit.
Service by the primary waitress was terrible. She lurked around the booth, but when we needed something, she was nowhere to be seen. The floor-walker/manager --what ever the title of the person who walks around asking if everything is wonderful -- took care of things in the waitresses absence. In all fairness, the manager comped me a cocktail for the one the waitresses never ordered for me.
The biggest gripe is the noise. They have the sound in the bar cranked up enough to be heard a block away. This floods the dining area to the point where my guest and I could not talk in a normal tone. I kid you not, I had to cup my ears to hear the person across the table from me who was speaking in an elevated voice. Nuts. I would expect this in a taco or trendy burger joint, but M&S pushes itself as a bit more polished eatery than that -- and it used to be.
As for the quality of the food, I still give it top marks all aspects.
This restaurant should be rated $$
Excellent food and atmosphere. Our server was new, so a little awkward at times, but efficient and personable. The scallops are a favorite of mine, and my wire loved the soft-shell crab special.
Enjoyed an excellent Sunday brunch with a group of friends. Good menu options with something for everyone. $3 Bloody Mary (nice and spicy) or mimosa was a plus. Great service. Very attentive and no one rushed us out so we had time to visit after the yummy meal. Highly recommend for any occasion. (They also have an awesome happy hour!)
The Reston, VA McCormick and Schmick's has become my family's birthday dinner spot. Always excellent service, and delicious food. Their private alcove are the perfect spots to be able to talk and catch up with my family. The alcove is especially helpful because my father is hard of hearing and can be part of the conversation.
Our waiter Dean made excellent recommendations! Wonderful service and an excellent meal!
Excellent service , good food, friendly staff
Excellent service, food, and ambiance. Will be back again.
Good food great time and the staff are great. Please don't change a thing. Always love eating here. A real treat.
King crab leg meat was dry and limp. Salmon rigatoni was short on salmon, but the inclusion of artichoke hearts was ingenious. Food in general was okay and above standard in conception, but prices were overly high.
It's my go to restaurant. I love the food, drinks and atmosphere. Great service and it comes with a smile.
Restaurant provided a free lunch or dinner for veterans on Memorial Day. Very nice gesture. Very few restaurants honor veterans for their service in such a manner. The food was very good and the service excellent. Nice atmosphere. I would recommend the restaurant and food.
We went for Memorial Day and wanted to happy hour in the bar. When we got there, they then tell us there is no happy hour on Memorial Day. There were many people there who were unhappy. In addition, the food came slowly and was not very good.
