Restaurant was practically empty and food took a really long time - came at 1:00 and food did not arrive until 2:05. I think they had to catch the fish. I had the Tilapia and it came stuffed with shrimp and the shrimp were these tiny little things that looked liked canned shrimp.

They set my group in a private “room” so conversation was easier to hear and communicate. I would highly recommend for a business meeting or a date night!

Service was a little slow - busy night because of Veterans' Day special. Food is consistently good/very good here which is why we come back. That night it was a bit loud for my taste - would prefer to be able to have a quiet conversation over dinner. Again, probably a bit unusual for a sunday night but the Vets special clearly was bringing in the business.

Menu is always one of our favorites - good variety, well prepared.

McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Rest. hit another “home run” on our most recent visit.
There were 6 in our party - and EVERYONE was very pleased with their meal. We had a variety - Seafood, steak, salads, etc. All excellent.
We highly recommend this restaurant for a “won’t let you down” place to take family & friends.
Kudos and thanks to all the staff at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant in Reston.
Very much appreciated all that you did.

I went in for the Veteran's Day special. I've eaten at McCormick and Schmick's several times in the past, but never at this location. Meal was phenomenal and service was great.

Great Food & Service! We were seated on-time based on our reservation. We were there for the Veteran's Day meal offer. The waitress had a pleasant smile for us and explained all our options. We were served quickly and everything came out in the proper order (drinks/appetizers first, then main meal). I enjoyed the ambiance and would recommend the Reston location to anyone.

My wife and I went there for their annual Veteran's Day special (actually they do it the weekend before, making it possible to not have to choose between them and someone closer to home. We've been to both McCormick and Schmick's and M&S Grill before, so the atmosphere was not a surprise, for food was outstanding. The bottom line is that it is a bit pricey. We only had to pay for our desert and the one glass of wine we each had, which as still $50. I always tip based on the actual value of what was served, so it was pretty healthy.

Once again, another quality meal at M&S ... delicious seafood ... four different entrees and an appetizer ... hit it out of the park. However, the cost for 3 adults and 1 child, with non-alcoholic drinks and one appetizer, and with two free adult meals due to a promotion was $120. Why? Part of the reason was the outrageous price for non-alcoholic drinks. $3.40 for an ice tea. $3.40 for lemonade. $4.00 for Arnold Palmers. $1.25 per refill for everything but the iced tea, and never mentioned. So the way to do this place these days and to save yourself $20 (or to pour that $20 back into the awesome food) is to drink water. Of course, we were never offered water and stared at 4 empty water glasses the whole time. Of course, we weren't staring really, as we thought we were getting free refills of the pricey beverages we purchased. Well, live and learn. Still recommend the restaurant for the outstanding food and friendly service.

Wonderful and funny sever. Food was very good and price was ok. The only problem with Mckormick & Schmidt is that it doesn't feel "special" enough for a fancy date night. There something generic about the decor and menu that could be improved.

The waiter, Mark, needs an attitude adjustment and quickly. He acted as though he was doing us a real favor to just be there at all. He never smiled but had somewhat a disgusted look on his face the entire time we were at the table.
Put in other words, Mark spoiled the evening. Food was so, so. Caesar salad bland and blackened chicken pasta was extremely dry and basically tasteless .

My wife and I go out most Saturday evenings for date night. We cover the spectrum and like variety when it comes to our dinning experiences. We had been given a $50 gift certificate over a year ago and figured we give it a try. To be fair, we both love the steaks from Ruth Chris, but this is not their review. The host started off the visit well by having our table ready and was engaging. The server was fine, but decided for some reason not to provide us with the bread basket that everyone else was getting; I wondered what we would do with plates. We ordered seared ahi tuna as a starter and that's when the visit really spiraled down. What come out was old, dried up tuna sushshimi. Not even sure why she did not notice that it was not served tuna. The first bite was the last; my wife spit hers out...it was rancid. When the server checked back, she returned it to the kitchen and we asked not to have it replaced. The dining room manager came by and removed the cost from our bill. After serving us rancid fish, I would have expected to have at least Bombay Saphire and tonic comped, but nothing. The server was pretty much non-existent for the remainder of our visit and we left after completing our main courses quietly and totally disappointed with a restaurant that is not only established, but considered to be somewhat upper end. There are lots and lots of restaurants in No. VA, we will passing on returning to this one.

Lunch visit, it was quiet, the service was excellent. Started with the calamari which was delicate and crispy. The $3 bloody mary was amazing, one of the best I ever had. Finished up with the crab cake and fresh vegetables. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Food was tasty. Though, the lobster bisque was a bit too salty. The salad, which I ordered with grilled salmon, was delicious, nutritious and filling. My husband enjoyed his ribeye steak. The lobster mash potatoes he ordered were tasty, but nothing to write home about. My absolute favorite however, was the Cucumber Mint Lemonade.
The reception staff was very accommodating, we were seated rather quickly. Our waitress could have been a little more welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, she was not the most attentive or hardly ever had a smile on her face, which could possibly be explained by her being Eastern European. It might have been a cultural thing.
Overall, the ambiance was nice. The low noise level allowed for a pleasant conversation with my husband and an enjoyable dinner experience.

My wife and I were out for our anniversary and were very disappointed with every aspect of our visit.

Our waitress warned us away from the wahoo, so we both chose the plank roasted salmon. It came out watery and devoid of flavor (water squirted across the table when I put my fork into it). We also ordered two slices of upsidedown walnut-apple pie for dessert; the pie tasted fine, but her slice was at least 25% smaller than mine.

We had requested a booth, which we were given, but that led our waitress to forget about us. A promised refill of our bread was never received, and she completely forgot/ignored us when it came time to pay. She circulated the dining room in a clockwise direction, never glacing to her left, where she would have seen me waving to get her attention to request the check. Our dessert plates were already empty when she brought the check, yet it was nearly 15 minutes before she picked it up, and that was only after I shouted at her by name to get her attention as she rushed past us.

I had been seriously considering bringing my check to the hostess stand to be processed, but that likely would have been for naught. I intended to mention our displeasure with the hostess on the way out, but she was too engrossed in her cell phone to look up or acknowledge me as I approached her station, so I turned away and left.

This was the third consecutive year my wife and I celebrated ur anniversary at McCormick & Schmick, and it'll be our last, as this was my second consecutive disappointment at their restaurants (K Street in March). It seems this chain has lost its way.

The restaurant has 0 view, it is hidden on a back street, very unnoticable entrance. The decor is not original, the nooks are some wooden boxes with a curtain, supposedly for more privacy that almost completely isolates you; art decor is very ordinary... Best service was given by the manager Amanda who was able to resolve a very unpleasant conflict with a server.

This restaurant once stood head and shoulders above the heavy competition. The decline has been gradual and uneven, the kitchen occasionally fluffing a dish, the wait staff friendly and engaging even when harried. The failure was complete at dinner, the swordfish dull, the rockfish lackluster, none of the McCormick & Schmick creativity apparent on either plate. The waitress? Harried, overburdened and seemingly working most of a large room, especially the larger tables and booths. The wait staff is constantly changing. Neither of us enjoyed dinner and we’re unlikely to return.

The food was fine and the service was good. However having been to many fine restaurants in the U.S. and overseas, the price is not justifiable. The cost was exorbitant relative to the food, service, and atmosphere ($191 for two with no desserts and only one drink each; no bottle of expensive wine) . For this reason alone, we'll probably not choose to return.

The food was not to the standards I had expected. I got a mixed grill, grilled shrimp was rubbery, salmon was over done, asparagus was stringy. Kids steak was over cooked but daughter ate it all so that was a bonus. Overall was disappointed.

We went to McC & Sch for my husband's 77th birthday. This has long been a favorite spot of ours but we were SO DISAPPOINTED on this special night. My husband wanted lobster, no lobster on the menu except for bits and pieces in other dishes. We should have left right then but we have had such good experiences at the restaurant that we decided to stay and try other things on the menu. My husband ordered a margarita, shaken with ice but with the ice strained off and specifically asked for salt on the rim. It can w/o salt and the waiter made no attempt to take it back or correct it...duh. The waiter perhaps was either new or spread too thin but he came off being obnoxious. If he said "amazing", "delicious" or"wonderful" once, he said it 50 times.,and nothing met any of those adjectives. The noise level was unbelievable. We could not hear what the waiter was saying (and my hearing just tested perfect!) when he tried to suggest amazing, delicious and wonderful foods to us. The hostess was excellent and actually came to our table to box up my amazing food and to bring us our check. The waiter just abandoned us by the end of the evening. My husband ordered the plank salmon which was very good but he did not like either the salad nor the vegetables. There was no offer of dessert even though they knew it was my husband's birthday. Luckily, we had Key Lime pie at home. We were so looking forward to this evening out and were so let down.

Not a good experience. The service was terrible and the food, which was very slow to arrive, was disappointing. It took forever for our server to bring our drinks. We were seated next to a large party of young women celebrating a bachelorette party and they were very loud. And to top it all off, my iPhone was stolen off of the table after forgetting itand leaving it there, and returning in 10 minutes. Terrible experience. I would not recommend and we will not return.

MS has become extraordinarily expensive. Also MS offers very few fresh fish selections and the fish are not the unusual fish MS offered for so many years.

Coming from Seattle and knowing the original McCormick's before they became MS, MS is not either the same M or MS as in the past.

Being a fan of both M and MS in the past, having spent many, many memorable experiences at MS throughout the nation, it grieves me to say that I will never come back to MS. Neither will I ever recommend MS to anyone again. Please note I have dined with MS across the nation and I am not biased by Seattle.

Please pass this review on to others.

BTW the bread was so stale it was really poor. If this is an example of MS quality there is a problem.

We drove an hour to Reston and we were delighted that we did! A beautiful restaurant with excellent food. In fact, there were so many enticing dishes it was hard to select. The close parking deck was added benefit. Our waiter was very professional, attentive but not intruding. My friend and I were able to carry on a conversation without being drowned out by music or conversation at other tables. We will definitely make the drive again to try some of the other foods on the menu and we will tell our friends the drive is worth the experience.

Poor and slow service. Drinks took forever and were wrong order. Food took longer than expected. Very poor portions for the price. "Over the top" server calling everything 'amazing", which it wasn't. I have taken many business clients there over the years, and I can tell you that the service and food have declined. No more for my company.

The service and atmosphere were great.

The only problems were the sides and entrees. The almond crusted trout didn't have enough lemon butter sauce and it was not lemony. The boursin mash lacked boursin flavor. The mushroom and spinach sauté lacked mushrooms while the spinach was overly salted. The broccoli side for the properly cooked steak was too salty.

The chocolate desserts were excellent.
