McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Raleigh - Crabtree Mall Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I came here for a date night. We ended up bringing our infant son so we sat at a booth. They have privacy curtains so I was able to feed our baby without any uncomfortable stares. We were seated immediately for our 6pm reservations and had great service. My boyfriend ordered the center cut ribeye which came out slightly under done but it was brought back and cooked longer. It ended up being very tender and beautifully seasoned. I ordered the new york strip and it was also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the future
The food and service were both good (not great). It seems to me that a lot of the price of the menu is baked into the location and ambiance rather than into the food product. Two of us had one appetizer (calamari), two entrees (seafood trio, ahi), and two glasses of inexpensive wine (Shiraz) and the bill with tip was almost $120. Unfortunately the food and service didn't live up to that price point.
Service and timing was very poor. It took 15 min to be greeted at the table and another 20 min to get our drink order. Followed by an evening of poor timing and chaos. Advised the manager that we had been there over an hour and s held snd still had not had our main course. He apologized and offered free desert for our experience. When we received our meals the food was good. However then when it came to desert another 15-20 min wait I said forget the free desert let's just pay... we were there for almost 2 1/2 hours and all we had was - 1 drink, mussels, salad/cup of soup/ and entre. We saw other tables equally frustrated and the manager running around trying to bridge the gap for poor service, kitchen service issues and all around chaos. Never again!
The food was good but the overall experience was terrible because of the customer service. I’ve been to the one in Charlotte several times and have had a great time. I drove an 1 hour and 15 minutes bragging about this restaurant just to get there and from the moment we walked in the door, it was horrible. It got to the point where I was getting ready to leave but we just decided to make the best of it!
My husband and I had a reservation for NYE and were seated 45 minutes later after checking multiple times on the status of our table. The host staff lied and said they had been calling us. Then we got a waitress who stated she would take care of us, well the salad came out wrong and the dinner was completely cold after we were lied to a second time being told the food was brought right out to us. We are talking stone cold. The manager did come over and said all the right things and covered one of dinners, but the entire bill should have been covered. We were invited to come back to be shown a better experience, that will not happen. There is nothing special about the place, the staff or the food that would make us want to repeat this.
Let me preface by saying that I never give reviews (much less bad ones), but this was a terrible experience. It was New Year's Eve and we had to wait 30 min longer than our reservation to be seated, overall, that really wasn't an issue for me. However, the attitude from the hostess wasn't great either, but I know they were stressed. The biggest issue was the food and drinks...
First - I ordered a dirty martini and they were out of martini glasses (really?) I got it served in a rocks glass (that's ridiculous) - not chilled, etc...not a martini that should've been served. How does a high-end restaurant run out of glasses???
The Oysters were very fresh and very good. The Ribeye steak was the worst Ribeye that I ever had out - It was cooked correctly (medium), it was just very dry - no juice at all and very chewy. I almost sent it back, but I'm in the food business and I just don't do that. I was trying to figure out how that happens...Ribeye is my favorite steak always tender and juicy - not this one. After my original order, I realized that I forgot to add on the "Truffle Mashed Potatoes" that was an option. I did it a few minutes after my original order and prior to the meal coming out. Unfortunately, the potatoes didn't arrive until I was halfway done with my steak (which I just didn't finish the steak). Additionally, I didn't realize until after I got home that I was charged a full side of $8 vs. the $4 add on that I should've been charged.
My wife had the Salmon and overall it was good (not great).
Just a terrible dining experience overall - Very Disappointing!!!
I wasn’t crazy about the restaurant and was disappointed that I made reservations for 7:45 but didn’t get in until 8:20 and didn’t place our order until 9. I would likely not go back considering we spent almost $300 for four people and everything was average.
All in all, our experience on New Years Eve started out most unpleasant. We had a 7:45 PM reservation on Open Table and were placed on a waiting list that seem to keep growing and growing. There were numerous tables available that sat unused the whole time we waited and when I inquired about those ...the hostess stated ---"uh they are being cleared and prepped." In case she didn't notice, these tables were already bused for the next guest and she was too busy making excuses of why anyone was not being seated.
The Hostess was obviously new at this and assigning a table and coordinating reservations was not her strong point. SHE ALSO DID NOT MAKE A NOTE TO OPEN TABLE THAT WE ACTUALLY DINED THERE?
Other than that, the food was delicious as usual, our server Leighanne was tops. Thanks Leighanne for us even considering dining here again......... but for sure NOT ON NEW YEARS EVE.
Had reservation but still ended up waiting 30 min for table. Receptionists were rude and not helpful. Rolled eyes and were very short with the customers. Would barely call a name in a very busy bar like atmosphere (not able to hear) and then move on to next on list. When those of us who were near the desk told them that we couldn't hear them they just rolled eyes at us and ignored us. Once we were seated it got much better. Only thing that I really didn't like was that the tables were so close together I would get bumped every time someone walked by our table.
The food was delicious, except for the dessert, the chocolate box which the chocolate was soft and the cream curdled. The steaks however, amazing... Unfortunately the staff from the moment we arrived was poor... 30 minutes after our reservation we were sat-which would have been fine except it took 20 minutes to get a drink at the semi-busy bar where we had to listen to bartenders wining about their day. When we sat our appetizer, crab dip (again delicious) arrived before our drink order... Which isn't saying much as it took 30 minutes for the app to arrive. The highlight was the steak, but the wine we ordered with our meal was delivered after we had finished. 45 minutes after ordering dessert it arrived and was terrible, the server felt bad and removed it from the bill, but reminded us what the ordinal total was so we could tip accordingly... 3 hours after our arrival we had finally had enough and left... My reccomendation : takeout or better yet, go somewhere else. I never write bad reviews, so hopefully you will understand my frustration...
We were there on New Year's Eve. We arrived early so our table wasn't ready yet. We sat at the bar and even though it was rather busy the bartenders took really good care of us until our table opened up. When we got sat, our server did an incredible job of setting expectations and following through. It was a great experience and we will be back.
Everything was wonderful. Celebrated my daughter's birthday. My waitress Bria went above and beyond to satisfy us. They even personalized the menu for her. Food was wonderful. Would recommend this to anyone celebrating or just wanting a quiet dinner. Will definitely be returning.
We went for Christmas Dinner. The second to last seating at 8:45pm - staff seemed a little burnt out and understably so...Food took almost 45min to get served, manager was very nice, stopped by and apologized for the long delay. Nice enough experience but will avoid the place during big holidays.
One of our favorite restaurant, but they blew it on Christmas evening. Two and a half hours plus for dinner and we tried to help at every occasion to speed it up by being ready to order, ready to pay, no desserts, etc. Was not the servers fault as they were working hard. Appeared to be a poor management decision to try to accommodate too many people for the staff they had on hand. Makes us wonder if we will go back.
Just terrible. We had reservations, arrived a little early and were seated at our designated time. Our first reaction was disgust. The table was set for dining, but not one piece of glassware, silverware or plate was clean. This wasn't a table that hadn't been bussed, it was set for four. We examined the extra two place settings but not one piece looked like it had been cleaned, just wiped off from the last use. We resolved not to drink the water or use the plates, and asked for new silverware. Our waitress took our drink and appetizer order and was gone for 20 min, finally another server brought our appetizer. About 5 min later our server returned and realized she had forgotten our drink orders. Our dinners took about as long to arrive and were forgettable aside from the fact that they were served at room temperature, not even warm. From the outside, this seems like a nice place....at over $120 for dinner for 2, no second chance for McCormick & Schmiks. I can't believe they even have 3 stars.
The restaurant was off key this night. Took a very long time to get food and waitress was not very pleasant. Asked for Filet to be pink and it was very rare for both of us that ordered it. Still purple in the middle.
Food was ok overall otherwise, but for the price, we expected much more. Unlikely we will revisit this restaurant.
We hadn't eaten here in a number of years as the last time we ate there, the service was lacking, the food was tough like it had been microwaved and the lighting was so bad we had to use the flashlights on our phones to see the menu.
Fast forward to now.
The food has improved, but barely. Mashed Potatoes tasted like the had dirt in them.
We had ordered Lobster Bisque and had to send it back since the chef had the stupid idea to stick a crouton with Olive Oil poured over it. Disgusting.
They messed up one of Entrees forgetting two sides, only brought out the fish and nothing else.
So we have decided not to drop another penny at this restaurant. Too expensive for what you get.
The general experience was very good. Our waiter was very attentive. And the food was generally good. This was Christmas Day and when we arrived the place was packed. Our food took awhile to arrive. My stuffed salmon was piping hot, but unfortunately my wife's crab cakes where luke warm. Based on a couple of comments from our waitress and the manager, we got the impression that the kitchen was struggling.
Over all though, we enjoyed our meal and would recommend this place to others and will return.
We had reservations early Christmas Day. We were seated immediately and the service was immaculate. Our mixed drinks were great. My wife’s steak was cooked correctly, but served on a cold plate, so she was eating cold meat almost immediately. My crab legs were steams a bit too much, so were kind of tough. Not that good for a $100 meal plus tip.
There are terrible problems at this place. We didn’t get our food for an hour and that was just the beginning. The waitress cried! And it wasn’t us being mean! The food was ok but not worth the upscale price. I was embarrassed to have invited my friends there on Christmas Eve. The manager was a wimp who offered very little compensation. A really bad experience and I’ll never go back.
We booked a 6:45 pm reservation for 6 people and were seated very promptly. However, we were seated at a table closest to the door and every time the door opened, we were blasted with cold air (we had 2 children with us). Our server was conspicuous by her absence. We were seated for 90 minutes before our food came and all we had to eat during that time was bread. We didn't even get the salads we ordered during that time, so we cancelled them. The manager did comp us with dessert. It was Christmas Eve and they took reservations. I don't know what the problem was, but it seemed like the entire restaurant was effected. We ate there last Christmas Eve and did not have a problem. I don't know if we will be back next year.
My husband and I eat out for lunch almost every day. I received an email saying that a certain dessert was going to end on December 31st. We had lunch at the restaurant on Thanksgiving and were so full we could only have a small dessert. We really wanted to enjoy the chocolate bag filled with fruit and white chocolate moose. When I heard it was going to end at the end of the month we had to get to the restaurant. The lunch was delicious and the dessert fantastic. Everything was very enjoyable.
