Bathrooms were disgusting!! Food was way overpriced. Something must have been going wrong that night. Terrible overall experience aside from the great waiter.
My wife is very gluten sensitive and she made this clear to the server. He assured her that many items could be modified to be gluten free, and that he could also get a gluten free menu from the office. They printed one out and she ordered from it. When the food came, she got a salad she had not ordered. She refused it, sat and watched me eat my meal, and eventually got the salad she had requested (I heard her, she did ask for it in the first place.)
It looked good and tasted really great, which was surprising to her since gluten free food seldom tastes so sensational. She ate pretty much the whole thing. However, once we had paid and left to go to a nearby museum, her gluten reaction began. I will spare you the details, but after spending two hours in the bathroom and taking an Imodium, she felt well enough to walk to the car and go back to the hotel and crash. Needless to say, her lunch was a waste and our trip to the museum was ruined.
Will we ever visit McCormick and Schmick's again, or recommend it to anyone? Never.
McCormick and Schmick's always remembers veterans on special Holidays. They are very gracious in providing a very nice menu to choose from. the meal is always delicious! We applaud this franchise for always doing something nice for our country's veterans. Thank you very much!

Service was awful waited 20 min to be greeted at our table after being seated. Then when I got up to speak with the manager all he said was oh.. then a server finally came over. The meal was excellent. The service was horrible.
It was just ok. The waiter was super friendly and that’s the reason I actually gave it 3 stars. The food was ok but not worth the prices on the menu. Its a shame as it could be a great contender but too many other fantastic restaurants in that area to choose from. Also, some sort of maintenance or vent noise was heard throughout the dining experience.
We loved our waiter, Chris. He made us feel so comfortable right away on Mother’s Day.
Excellent service, thanks !!!
Service was horrible and the bill was wrong. Had to send it back 3 times to get corrected. Server had no clue on how bad it was to get the bill wrong three times and that it took a long time to resolve. It was mother's day but we were their early so it wasn't extremely busy.
Great food and atmosphere. Parking garage close by.
mothers fay breakfast
Even after discussing my son’s dairy allergy with the server and requesting his steak be served without the butter, she brought his steak to the table swimming in butter. She and the manager apologized, but by the time they recooked his steak, the rest of our party had finished their entrees. Allergies of any kind need to be taken seriously at restaurants and McCormick & Schmick’s does not appear to do so.
We were one of maybe 3 tables, yet were rushed to order, rushed to eat, rushed to leave. Our food took very long to come out and we were waiting for 20 minutes for our drinks- which came after the food. Again, we were one of 3 tables. The food was okay, but I’ve had better quality food at a diner, not what I would expect for the amount of money. Overall I was disappointed and will not be dining there againS
Excellent food and service was great. Very convenient for our plans for the evening
Appetizers and meals were very good...the waiter was very pleasant and helpful.
I love seafood. Clam chowder was amazing. My fish was really good too
Outstanding service from our waiter, Prince. Food was amazing. Perfect pace and Nick the manager was also a pleasure to have visit our table.
They brought out a cake for my parents’ wedding anniversary and champagne for a toast. Very nice touch.
Overall, good place for dinner.
This is more of a seafood place.
Oysters were great, special menu salmon was cooked perfectly.
They give you large portion and side dishes were pretty good. Just wished they had more steak choices since the name of the restaurant included "steak and seafood".
The booth was little awkward due to the backrests seemed beyond perpendicular.
The waitress could be trained better for my comfort.
I will return again when I'm back in town.
We traveled to Providence to attend an event at the Providence Performaing Arts Center and decided to stay at the historic Providence Biltmore Hotel located a 5-10 minute walk from the Center. Located on the ground floor is McCormick & Schmick's restaurant. We dined here before the 7:00pm concert start time, making a 4:45pm reservation(as it was a Tuesday night, we were the first table occupied so reservations were not needed.) We were seated at a booth looking out onto the street directly across from City Hall, great for people watching as 5:00pm rolled around. Our server came right over upon our arrival and took drink order. I started with their jumbo shrimp cocktail, my wife, a simple salad. Shrimp were perfectly chilled, plump and tasty, sitting on a bed of ice with a spicy sauce in the middle, delicious. Wife's salad was crisp and perfectly flavored with a light vinaigrette dressing, she ate every bit. I followed with a 8oz filet mignon which I added a small lobster tail to for $13.00, creating my own surf and turf. Wife ordered the lobster mac and cheese. I also ordered two sides, asparagus and frites to share. Here is my only minor complaint. Based on experience, I have found that if I want my steak cooked properly I must order it one level up from what I want. This occasion was no different. I ordered my steak medium and it came medium rare which is how i like it. It was delicious from beginning to end, nice, hot, and juicy. Frites were devoured and my wife and I shared the asparagus. Wife's mac and cheese was delicious too.
We shared a bottle of wine with dinner, a nice Spanish Albarino. Their wine list is comprised almost entirely of domestic wines, both red and white but offered a nice variety.
Service was friendly, efficient and perfectly timed. All in all a great meal before the show.
We dine here a few times a year - it's an hour each way from home but we like it very much. We were here 2 weeks ago and had occasion to be passing by, so we had dinner again. It's so consistently good - fresh, well prepared seafood, creative presentations or simple, it's all nicely done. Just a nice dining experience every time.
Ahi Tuna was very good, paired with wasabi mashed potatoes which were good but way too large a portion. I would have like more veg (baby bok choy) and less potato. Excellent wine - Stag's Leap Chardonnay. Desserts are quite large so I opted for the seasonal sorbet which was available as a single scoop. Server was personable and had helpful suggestions. The bench seat cushion was lumpy - time for a change there, but overall ambiance was pleasant. It was a slow night so it was not noisy, but I have been there when there were a lot of people in the adjacent bar and there was spillover noise then.
As we were staying at the hotel we ended up going there for breakfast as well, and had a very tasty smoked salmon Benedict.
The clam chowder was much too salty, almost unedible, although the hawaiian rare tuna
was very good. We first tried to sit at a booth but the back was uncomfortable and when
we moved to a table my chair cushion was too soft, dented by the many customers who
may have sat in it. I think the restaurant needs an update. Also I made the reservation on open
table, but they still called to see if we were coming. Then when we got there, there were more
empty table than would be expected. Now it was St. Patty's day -- so perhaps that made a difference.
Lobster special was overcooked. Our server was great though.
The Restaurant was overwhelmed by the number of diners and could not handle the flow. It took at least a half hour for us to get our drinks, and we had to talk to another waitstaff in order to get attention for our drinks. We were there for 60 minutes before we even received our food and I I had to speak to the manager to let him know how long we had been there and we still do not have our food. We were late to our show, even though we gave ourselves an hour and a half of time to dine. I thought our food server was going to cry at our table, because she could not handle the situation. We tipped her, but I’m not quite sure anyone deserved a tip that night.
When you frequent an expensive establishment you expect good service and ambiance. First of all, this location looks dirty, old, and hasn’t been remodeled in over 10 years. Second, the quality of food servers is horrible. None of them greeted anyone, waters weren’t filled, drinks and food took forever. No bread baskets unless asked for and our server did not have any knowledge of the menu when asked questions. Again, I am not usually one to complain but someone should make this known as this establishment has potential but is clearly under poor management to allow so many of these deficiencies to continue.
They obviously had not planned for the volume of dinners for that night. They were seriously under staffed with visible stress on the faces of the wait staff. They had overbooked reservations and we were forced to eat at a bar table even though we had made reservations over a month I advance and it was a birthday. Most people in the restaurant were attending a concert down the street so we had time limitations. When we arrived we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, were not served even a drink for another 20 minutes and barely had time to eat the meal. My husband had oysters an 2 came without any meat in them. Very disappointing and we will never go back
Very good food but very, very, very, poorly managed. Wait staff way under staffed for busy night. All looked "frazeled". Host sat me at a table and never told waitress to cover the section. 2 complaints to the host and 30 minutes later, someone finally came to take a drink order. Another 15 minutes to get a glass of water. No silverware or napkins. Had to take them off another table.
Our waitress did the best she could, but her normal section was on the complete other side of the room. Too many tables for her to handle properly.
If understaffed, the manager should have simply closed off a section and turned away walk ins. Never again.
The atmosphere was fine, but I asked for a table away from the kitchen, and we were TWO tables away from it. The waitress was very nice, but it was obvious that she was overworked. Our drinks were very slow to arrive, finally came just before our food arrived. My clams were disappointing both in quality and quantity, but my wife's swordfish was good. The dessert, creme broulet, was okay, but the glaze was burnt in spots. For the price of the meal, we were not impressed with the overall experience.
Picked it because it was a 1000 point reservation. Seated right away for our 5:30 reservation, and let our very nice waiter know that we were attending a 7:30 show. Let our server know that I am gluten and dairy free, and he acknowledged both and brought a gf menu. (so far, so good). Ordered a side salad and hubby a cup of soup (which he enjoyed) and requested they come together. Ultimately, had to ask for my salad - hubby was long done with the soup by that time - and the "salad" was a bowl of lettuce with a very creamy looking salad dressing. Ordered a cosmo, which I had to ask 2x for, and when it arrived, the glass was 1/4 empty. When we still had not been served at 7:05, I spoke to the manager about the delay, the salad and drink. When our meals arrived close to 7:15pm, my plank salmon was not completely cooked! My husband enjoyed his sword fish though. Was expecting some compromise on our bill, which we had asked to divide on 2 cards with the other couple with us - neither of those happened either. When my friend was on her way to the ladies room, she witnessed another server drop an entire tray of food onto the table the waiter was delivering to. It's been a long time since I felt motivated to pay less than a 20% tip on a bill, but this was one of those occasions. Our poor waiter was sweating bullets and appeared to be overwhelmed, which meant to me that the manager did not put the time in to either properly vet the waiters or train them.
First off I wanted to clearly state that the food was excellent. However the front of the house was less than desirable. We had a 5:30 reservation and the restaurant was filling up but nothing over the top. The person who was trying to seat people looked overwhelmed and unprepared. They could not find out reservation even though I pulled it up on open table and had a personal conversation the day before with staff to confirm our reservation and to request a booth by a window. I was told that would not be a problem. They tried to seat us not a booth and when I reminded them that we had requested a booth by a window (we could see that 2 were immediate available) our hosted rolled her eyes and walked off leaving us standing in the middle of the restaurant. She then proceeded to help another person and then eventually we got a booth but in the middle of the restaurant. No apologies... nothing. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed. The best service we got was from a very friendly bus boy. Probably will not go back.
The combination of music and guests made it way too loud and almost impossible to hear each other talk. That is my only complaint. Otherwise, the food was delicious and our server was wonderful!
Had a reservation and they tried to seat us by the bar, even though the entire dining room was empty when we arrived. Then they got our order wrong, had to wait forever for our dinner and then another long wait for the check. Restaurant is completely mismanaged. Food was ok, but I will never return.
Service was great but food was sub par. Ordered a cheeseburger but it came without cheese. When it was sent back to be corrected there was a shard stale piece of cheese on the burger but it was not remotely melted. Very disappointing because now I had cold fries to go with it.
Service was slow but the restaurant was very nice. Prices were a bit high for what we were looking for but it worked out well for us.
great food, great service. server was very pleasnt and welcoming
The Potatoes were raw and we wanted to order additional drinks with our dinner. By the time the waitress brought the drink menu and came back to ask what we wanted we were 3/4 through our meal so we passed. At the end of our meal the waitress provided us with the wrong bill.
Not a great experience.
Wow, is the first word that comes to mind...and unfortunately I don't use this term in a positive way in this context. Parking is nearly impossible to find in the area, but only after we asked a parking garage attendant did we find out that you can Valet Park at the Biltmore Hotel (where the restaurant is housed) for only $7 for up to 3-hours. Would have been nice to know that before we drove around for nearly a 1/2 hour trying to find parking!
Once inside, we were greated by a friendly, albeit young, host staff. Seated to our table and then it all goes downhill from there...It took our waitress nearly 10-minutes to come to our table and greet us. Upon arrival, she proceeds to take our drink order and advises that the ENTIRE restaurant is out of Green Olives and Olive Juice (for my Dirty Martini)...basically that they have abandonded the practice of carrying such rudimentary delicacies =)
Another 15 minutes for our drinks,as we have yet to get even cold water poured or warm bread delivered to our table at this point. Upon arrival she (our waitress), appears inexperienced and flustered, proceeds to drop my martini, spill my wife's red wine, which gets all over my two young daughters' clothes, and cuts her hand in the process. She proceeds to give my wife, her now half-filled glass of red wine and hurries off in a tizzy. Minutes later, mind you no manager has come over to us yet, she returns with a bandaged hand and my new martini, which by the way had so much olive juice I could barely taste the vodka (oh right, they don't have olive juice anymore!). I asked if she was alright and let her know that it's ok to slow down and take her time and she responds by saying "it's been a bad first week on the job"!!!
The food which came out was tasty, although my wife did have to send her steak back as it was undercooked, but the ambiance and noise level were a little less then desirable.
Icing on the cake is that we were given the wrong table's bill to pay!!!!
A shame that this chain has gone down hill so much. Ambiance was horrible, prices were ridiculous. Went to 3 other places in Providence and there was absolutely no comparison.
It was Valentine's night so they were busier than normal so food took about a half hour to come out. It was understandable considering the day. We made reservations and our table was waiting for us. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
NICE PLACE TO EAT I ENJOY MYSELF ON VALENTINE'S DAY WITH MY WIFE
