McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Pittsburgh South Side Ratings and Reviews
This was an office Christmas Party and the staff selected this venue. To say all enjoyed the service, food, ambiance would be an understatement. There were 10 of in attendance. The staff could not have been more attentive or friendly. This is the first party in 4 years (all at different venues) where there were no complaints about drinks, food, or service.
The worst food and service we have ever had at a restaurant that we have visited frequently over the years. There was less than a dozen diners at 1:00pm and the service was slow and indifferent. The order was wrong, the server was unapologetic (when she was around at all). The food was tepid and lackluster at best.
I have to say I was disappointed. I thought McCormick and Schmick' s was somewhat upscale. We had reservations, which they confirmed. We were seated right away. The waiter brought out appetizer before our drinks. The appetizer ( calamari) was under cooked. My husband's potatoes were also under cooked and greasy. My Turkey dinner was very nice. The wait times for beverages was too long considering the bar was not busy. So for the price point I was disappointed I expected better service and better quakity of food. Maybe it was an off day but considering it was Thanksgiving I would have thought they were prepared. Especially since they went to the trouble to confirm our reservation.
Our first Thanksgiving meal with this restaurant....I went ahead and made Christmas reservations after our experience. It was nice to have the option of a traditional turkey dinner, or something off the menu. We both chose a dinner off the regular menu, and really enjoyed it.
We both started with a mixed greens salad, it was simple and tasty. Very fresh and crisp, with a perfect amount of dressing. My husband had a steak, he said it was perfectly medium rare, exactly how he ordered it. I had the stuffed shrimp...it was delicious. We both ordered the mashed potatoes with Boursin and mushrooms...the ultimate comfort food! Best mashed potatoes ever. The bread was also simple but delicious...crusty and warm.
The service was excellent. We had been dining elsewhere for this holiday the past few years, but last year had a server that obviously resented working the holiday and made sure we knew it. We decided to try McCormick & Schmick's this year, and are so glad we did. Our server was pleasant, friendly, efficient, and made us feel welcome. We look forward to returning for many future holidays.
We came for Thanksgiving Day, because our family celebration was on Friday. Did not partake of the seasonal special, but ordered from the regular menu. Food was, as usual, outstanding; our waiter not only attentive, but very charming and most personable--adding to the pleasure. One observation: It was very noisy, but indicative of happy people. Did feel, as a musician myself, the music could have been eliminated--all I could hear was the bit of the bass line and the rhythm; not an enhancement of the ambiance in any way. Did learn this site no longer in the group for which I have a rewards card. No biggie--just a surprise.
I was looking forward to taking the family out for a change for thanksgiving dinner. The food was good, despite only a ketchup container of cranberry sauce. I found it surprising though that they were asking an extra $4.00 for a measly piece of pumpkin pie...what?? $27.95 for a turkey dinner and you want me to shell out another $20.00 for pie, not to mention the extra paid for beverages. I've eaten at your place in the past and then it seemed a reasonable value. Looking at your menu in general, your prices are outrageous. To be honest, you won't be seeing me anymore.... the pie thing really got me...what a con job....you people should be ashamed of yourselves.
Food was excellent and our waitstaff was extremely attentive. The only possible suggestion I might have is to change the lightbulbs in the multi-sphere lamp overhanging the bar walkway area. Several lamp glasses look like they have been burned, and for such an attractive place it stands out.
The restaurant was very cold and drafty.
We arrived at 7:30 and the waiter took our orders. But no food ever arrived. We asked twice to speak with the manager who did not bother to come over. We received bread on asking 80 minutes after asking. We left 2 hours after we arrived because we still had not been served and our waiter had disappeared.
We had a reservation but got there 15 minutes early to have a drink. The drinks were good and the bar staff was wonderful even thou it was extremely busy. Dining room was very noisy and tables too crowded. Waitress was awful. Had to ask 3 times for water and iced tea. She left us at one point for 25 minutes without even checking on us. The bread was hot and amazing. The food was average. We were a party of 5, and everyone had the same opinion. Too pricey for average food and bad service. We would go to the bar area again, but probably not for dinner.
We attended the Veterans Day special and the service was slow but we expected that there would be a huge turnout. Our only issue is that this happens every year and the restaurant does not Address this issue. We recommend more wait staff and line cooks on special evenings! A dinner for two took 2 1/2 hours.
Been going there now for over 10 years. Nov 5 was the worst
Service for an upscale restaurant as they are. Blame it on Waiter Steven, who had problems at 4 other tables also while we were there. Nothing went right all night, this was the "Veterans dinner", what a shame.food is great If you get what you ordered. Service actually Stunk?
Sorry, I am a veteran that is very upset!
This was a Veterans Day celebration. The restaurant offered free meals for all veterans. My husband and I are both Air Force veterans. It was very nice to know that someone appreciates our service. We have went here for Veterans Day for the past four years. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
I have nutrition here when on Southside with my Best Lady Friend. Never had bad service until on this Afternoon Luncheon ( Trick n Treat Luncheon)
Ms. Brenn only checked on us once, never inquired about food or brought to us. Another waiter brought food . Never received our appetizer baked stuffed mushrooms this was taken off bill.
I made Open Table 12:15pm October 31, 2017 took her at fifthteen minutes to wait on us . Received water . I feel Brenn needs additional training in this field as waitress. Not professional at all. Mention to Host Michael, please don’t seat us with her every again. Ps: We still attend this location and pray that the New Manager that just taken over Southside, due a review on all employees who waits on customers along with 30days reviews on their work experience for improvement (Training may be required to understand exactly what is required of them . Thank Ms Dorothy Bradshaw
